Schon/Cain instrumental song...

Postby G.I.Jim » Thu Jan 28, 2010 1:31 pm

Hey, I just saw this Schon song "Big Moon" and noticed that Cain was playing the keys on it. It's very different for Neal, and it's definitely got a serious jazz vibe going for it. He looks pretty funny in the video and looks all uptight in that suit, but I understand he was just doing this for the "Higher Octave" label he released this for. It WAS a cool album though, and I thought it was pretty cool to see this video. Hope you like it.

Cool jam. Neal's all slim and trim with his best James Caan look going on.

I can't believe you're hearing this song for the first time dude! It's the classic lead track from Schon's best solo album. This is THE song that inspired me to buy a Strat after playing humbucker guitars for years. It's so tough to match Neal's feel on this track, but I try.

I hear hints of the title track Trial By Fire in that song.

Same key if I remember right, a lot of the same note choices and guitar tone as well. Good ears.

Yep, Yep- Neal's best solo CD by far- Beyond the Thunder. Love to "try" to play this song along with Neal. Personal opinion, but what made BTT so good was Cain played on several tracks and also co produced the CD.

Late Nite is my absolute favorite, although this is my favorite track off of Beyond the Thunder. Didn't the liner notes say they JC tried to get Neal to put all of his classic Journey solo lines into this song? Sorry it's been SO long...
