One of My Favourite Shows Got Cancelled

Postby SherriBerry » Thu Jan 28, 2010 8:45 pm

I'm a big fan of 'Surviving Disaster' on SPIKE TV and I just found out there won't be a second season - that really sucks!! There is so much garbage on TV and this is a great show that is interesting and can save lives. A lot of the viewers watch online and I believe that really skews the ratings and numbers indicating how many watch. I admit that I'm also disappointed I won't get to watch Cade Courtley every week  , but I looked forward to every episode and what I took from them.

Anyone else losing a favourite show?

I'm fretting because I'll miss Cade Courtley! I haven't seen Deadliest Warrior - when is it on?

Did you ever see Combat Missions? It was a Mark Burnett production in 2002, but they only produced one season and then the war started in Iraq - I recently watched it on YouTube and found it pretty interesting. My biggest surprise was the level of training by the police SWAT teams - they were just as good and often outperformed the former special forces members.

I've lost a couple, including Without a Trace. But, the worst cancelation of the last year or two for me has been canceling The Unit, the military action-drama starring Dennis Haysbert and Robert Patrick. That was a GREAT fucking show with great production values. It had decent ratings, but apparently not enough to stay in business longer than the 20th CSI

It got canceled after 4 seasons... they didn't even really get to wrap up the characters' story lines, either, which was important because half of the show was focused on action and the other half was focused on the soldiers' personal lives/their wives/families. The show ended with lots of questions.

As long as they don't cancel 24 and Criminal Minds, I'm good to go. :) Need my Jack Bauer and Spencer Reed fix. Could those 2 characters be any more different?!

I love both of those shows too, although I've gotta be honest, this 24 season has me lukewarm at best so far... right now it feels like Season 6, with a mess of side plots and not enoug Jack per episode. The side plots are certainly expected, but I want a solid main story line more established before they get into all that crap, especially with the blonde CTU girl and her ex-bf/partner in crime kinda stuff, even if they do eventually tie it into the main story line.

I actually watched it the first couple seasons, then it got really weird and creepy, lol, but I've caught a few this past season again. Not too hard to pick back up on, though there is obviously a bunch I missed not watching all of them all along.

I never could really get into that show. Seen it once or twice maybe. Seems like that's one of those "Love it! I'm addicted" shows though, from those who I've known that watch it.

My currect addiction is Big Love, But I don't have HBO so I can't see it.

I liked 'The Unit' too until the last season. It started getting a bit farfetched with the wives getting into the spygame, but I liked it before that. They could have gone back to the original formula. The least the network could have done is let them wrap up the storylines!

Everyone in my family watched Jericho and it was an excellent show, but I think it hit too close to home for many. I know it scared the crap out of me because it was a very realistic scenario in terms of what could happen and few people live in a town like Jericho. At least now I own more survival gear and that reminds me that I have to resupply after I move!

They should make a film out of Jericho - I really think it could be a hit at the box office if they do it right.

There was something about TIVO/DVR not being accounted for in the Nielsen ratings, but apparently there was a big letter writing campaign for the show. I never saw anything about it on the website and only found out after searching online for an update to find out it had been cancelled.

It's funny - all of the networks are trying to attract the 18-39 demographic and haven't adjusted their technology so they know when they actually have it. Don't they know the younger the audience, the more likely it is to watch using the latest technology?

It sounds like they will probably cancel Cold Case after this season because setting the show in the various decades really increases the production costs. I love it when an episode flashes back to the 80s and they play a Journey song! This is one of my absolute favourite shows - I want the series on DVD, but the licensing for all of the original music is a very expensive holdup. They ruined the Quantum Leap DVDs when they released them with replacement generic music.

Did the Unit guys decide what to do about Colonel Ryan fooling around with Tiffy? I missed a lot of the last season, but I caught that he was being promoted to General and they needed his help.

SPOILER FOR ANYONE WHO WATCHES THIS SHOW/MIGHT BE INTERESTED: HIGHLIGHT FOR TEXT

They were gonna kill him when he went on a mission with them, Mack had him in a room and started beating the shit out of him and almost did it, the other guys gave him the go-ahead, but eventually Jonas talked him out of it. Then they just kinda stayed pissed off at him the rest of the season and I THINK he was gonna have to basically give up his command at some point.

Worst shows in the past 10 years:

1) LOST - this show sucked. Writers making shit up as it went along. Totally fan driven drivel.
2) 24 - another lame show. I couldn't get through 10 minutes of this show.
3) Any cop/forensic/criminalistic show - especially CSI: Detroit. Enough already. (I was gonna say CSI: Haiti, but would have been castrated)
4) Any and ALL award shows....The industry just loves to pat itself on it's back. CRAPtastic!

I don't like CSI much except an odd episode or two reels me in. I've seen little of Lost but it didn't reel me in.

But basically, from this list above, you must own a TV exclusively for sports

2) 24 - another lame show. I couldn't get through 10 minutes of this show.
3) Any cop/forensic/criminalistic show - especially CSI: Detroit. Enough already. (I was gonna say CSI: Haiti, but would have been castrated)
4) Any and ALL award shows....The industry just loves to pat itself on it's back. CRAPtastic!

I don't like CSI much except an odd episode or two reels me in. I've seen little of Lost but it didn't reel me in.

But basically, from this list above, you must own a TV exclusively for sports

CSI Vegas still is the best.... Fishburn has just added an edge to it...
The Mentalist is just fun...
Medium is great!!
and my favorite new show... Human Target.

worst show... Law and Order... all of em... ;-)

1) LOST - this show sucked. Writers making shit up as it went along. Totally fan driven drivel.

and dont mind me, I am still pissed about JERICHO being cancelled a few years ago now already!!! ;-)

They should make a film out of Jericho - I really think it could be a hit at the box office if they do it right.

for me, too much time has now past for a movie to work with Jericho... I loved the last few episodes though and how the series ended... and yes... hit way close to home and my guess in rual small town america especially...were just a bit freaked out by the series. BTW, I was one of the geeks that sent peanuts to CBS when the show was cancelled... sent emails and all that stuff as well... now that was a fun cause to be a part of!!
