South snow storm coming in......No school!

Postby artist4perry » Fri Jan 29, 2010 3:14 pm

We are getting hit in Arkansas with freezing rain and sleet tonight. Possible 4-8 inches of snow. This is right about the time we were hit by the big ice storm last year.  We seldom get a winter like this..............the global warming is taking over the south! LOL!  Hopefully we get more snow than ice and we keep the power on. I had a student last year tell me horror stories of how they had to huddle over a trash can with fire in it to keep warm. (He was burned a little because he got too close.)

How are you folks around us who are getting the storm earlier? Texas? Okhomer? I have been watching the news..... last year my mom and dad had no power for two weeks.

I am sure you northern folks have had much worse...........but it is rare here. Keep warm and safe folks........Missouri, Tenn. Thoughts are with my neighbors in Texas and Oklahoma. :)

I have really been trying not to complain. I live in SD and we have had a TON of snow this year. been cold and crappy here, but the poor folks north of me, that have NO power AND no water. ( they run off wells in the tullies). but i have had enough of winter. on that note, i need to remember to go buy a pool pass. ;)

Absolutely- also, when alot of southern infrastuctures aren't built for freezing temps. Had some friends in Jackson MS who's pipes froze because they're not used to those temps (thus improper insulation) and they said half the city was without water for nearly a week.

Well, I got the call...........school is cancelled for tomorrow! 8) Good thing too. As I said in the Global Farming thread........I fell at the foot of the stairs, and hurt my back, hip, arm, and leg............I am so sore! :( My hubby moved the rug that was wet from snow, I didn't know it, and my foot slid and I did the sideways splits on the floor and fell into the edge of a sharp wall! I landed in a T possition with my legs. I am lucky I am double jointed.

Image

I landed like this.....knees turned in and both feet making a T. I have been able to do that since I was a girl. I can actually turn my knees in, and touch my toes together. Made one of my coaches almost pass out when I landed like that on the trampoline. He thought I broke my legs.

Anyone else here double jointed?
