This thread is getting some interesting responses. Some, very predictable. Others, not so much.

I've been catching a little heat over the "Fast Food Restaurant" question & so I guess I gotta explain that one.

I originally put "What is your favorite restaurant?" but decided I'd better change that b/c (just like with myself) I'm sure most of you have a fave restaurant that is exclusive to the city in which you live. Since the rest of us would not be familiar with the name of your fave, I figured I better change the question to "Fast Food" b/c they are more recognizable. What I should have said is, "What is your favorite nationally known restaurant?" b/c that way each of you would have understood that YES I did want you to include places such as Applebee's, TGIFridays, Tony Romas, Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Outback Steakhouse, Chili's, Olive Garden & Red Lobster.....

..... And so on that thought..... I would like to change my vote to Tony Romas. Arby's is DEE-lish in a pinch when I don't have time to sit & wait, but Tony Roma's has really good ribs.

Sorry for the confusion ya 'all. :D

What is your favorite TV show? I've had a ton of "can't miss an episode" shows, but think I got into The Shield more than any other show I've watched.

What is your favorite movie? Glengarry Glen Ross

Image

If you could have a romantic relationship with a famous person, who would that be? Jennifer Connelly

What is your favorite fast food restaurant? Popeye's!

What is your favorite non-Journey related song? Wayyyyy too many to list, but first song that came to mind was "Old Rose Motel" by Great White.

Who is your favorite actor/actress? Jennifer Connelly

Assuming you could act or sing, if you could guest star on any TV show, which one would that be? I actually proposed to a friend who ran a big The Shield fan-site that we should use her connections to try to land ourselves in an episode as one of the weirdo, stupid criminals that you'd find in a Dutch/Danny/Julian subplot. I think the idea I came up with was that we'd be running some sort of street-side fortune telling scam and cheating people in some slum out of money. It would have been hilarious but aside from laughing about it, we never pursued it.

Who is your favorite non-Journey related singer? You mean there are singers out there who haven't been in Journey before? Do tell!!!

Excluding Andrew & T-Bone (no sucking up ... in other words) who are your top 3 favorite male MR members? JSS, Neal Schon, and my Dokken buddy Weatherman90! Just ran across your Kelly Hansen interview yesterday too, bro and loved it! I'm looking forward to the Kip Winger interview. :)

Who are your top 3 female MR members? I love all of them but Rhi and BJG make me laugh constantly. :)

Anyone brave enough to admit their least favorite MR member? I like everyone.

What is your favorite season? Fall, especially those days where it's just cool enough that you can smell the smoke from a few chimneys.

Excluding water, if you could drink only one beverage for the rest of your life, what would that be. Iced-Tea flavored Gatorade -- I didn't buy enough to keep it on the shelves, I guess.

Other than what you currently do for a living, what non-entertainment career would you have liked to pursue? Paleontology.

If you had to choose how you would die, what would that be? Probably in the heat of battle so I could die a hero, but only if I took a cyanide pill first to help calm my nerves.

Image

What is your best physical feature? Probably my mouth, but only when I keep it shut.

Image

What is your best non-physical attribute? I try to see the good in everyone. Except Adolf Hitler and Axhole Rose, of course.

If you could live anywhere you want, where would that be? Hmm.... New Zealand?

Are you mostly a neat or messy person? Neat

Do you have any hidden talents or unique traits about yourself? I can waste an inordinate amount of productive time when I set my mind to it.

Jack Lemmon owned that movie for me. It was heart-wrenching watching what his character went through, and Lemon disappeared into his character. My stomach was in knots by the end of the movie with his plot line and watching his desperation. It was an outrage to me that he wasn't nominated for an Oscar in that co-starring role. But it was definitely an ensemble piece as far as the brilliance of the movie and everyone was fantastic.

LOL!!! I've never seen that before! BRILLIANT! Loved the glitch he made when he said "CLOSING" instead of "COBBLING". Speaking of reenacting that stuff, I remember Kevin Spacey guesting on "Inside The Actors Studio" and one of the audience members talked him into reading thru one of his scripted GGGR scenes with him.

It really is my favorite film of all time, and it's definitely not for everyone. Excellent cast and a ton of laughs for sure, but it's also an extremely sad and desparate story and you really get the sense of being in those people's shoes. I also seeing it showing kind of a hierarchical stepladder of manipulating or being manipulated for personal benefit, and it's interesting how quickly the positions can change and someone who was dishing it out so cruelly one minute can have the script flipped and be begging for mercy from the same person he was beating up a minute before. Really a great character study, and if nothing else a good reason not to dish it out if you can't take it. It's a film without kindness or mercy.

So true. This movie was so gripping and unrelenting. I loved it, but hard to recommend to friends (females) unless they love dark movies and don't mind a ton of profanity, which this movie had.

I totally agree, Jana!!! I didn't mean to overlook Lemmon in my earlier comment. I do think Baldwin owned his role as a convincing royal dick, but Lemmon owned the movie & YES, he should have gotten an Oscar nomination for his performance. My heart especially went out to Lemmon in that scene where's he's standing in the phone booth in the rain. You just knew he'd reached the end of the road by then. He had once been the company's "Golden Boy," their top seller ---- & here he was begging for table scraps, trying to get a lead. The desperation on his face looked so genunie. Glengarry Glen Ross is a "must watch" movie for anyone who's ever had a crappy job or crappy boss.

Extra thanks to Rip for mentioning this movie. It's excellent!!! I think I'll rent it again this week. :D

What is your favorite TV show? I love TV shows... Law & Orders, 24, The Shield, The Wire, The Sopranos, and Dexter are among my top favorites... certainly not an inclusive list there

What is your favorite movie? Falling Down w/ Michael Douglas

If you could have a romantic relationship with a famous person, who would that be? I'd like to say one of the hot women's pro tennis players, but I really can't think of one off the top of my head that also seems to have any semblance of a decent personality. ZERO interest in the Hollywood actresses from what I can tell.

What is your favorite fast food restaurant? Taco Bell (Drunken Grande Meal for the win)

What is your favorite non-Journey related song? The Guess Who - Dreams ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2tNZBcXH4g )

Who is your favorite actor/actress? The man, the legend, but no myth because he's all real... Clint Eastwood

Assuming you could act or sing, if you could guest star on any TV show, which one would that be? The Wire

Who is your favorite non-Journey related singer? Burton Cummings - Most unique voice ever

Excluding Andrew & T-Bone (no sucking up ... in other words) who are your top 3 favorite male MR members? Lotsa cool guys on here, many that I hope to meet soon, especially the guys I get in dust-ups with here a lot that I know would be a blast to party with IRL

Who are your top 3 female MR members? Same as above, 3 is too small

Anyone brave enough to admit their least favorite MR member? Lula or whoever posts the nasty vitriol towards me on a bi-weekly basis from her account.

What is your favorite season? Early summer before it gets too hot

Excluding water, if you could drink only one beverage for the rest of your life, what would that be? Diet Coke w/ Lime (not socially acceptable or healthy to drink beer at work or mid-day etc  )

Other than what you currently do for a living, what non-entertainment career would you have liked to pursue? FBI Field Agent

If you had to choose how you would die, what would that be? Quietly/quickly in my sleep, without suffering, after my parents have gone but before any of my future kids/wife have passed

What is your best physical feature? Depends on the chick I guess... certainly not my height

What is your best non-physical attribute? Brain

If you could live anywhere you want, where would that be? Right here in Cleveland baby

Are you mostly a neat or messy person? In the middle - not terrible, but I don't clean daily or anything. Definitely weekly and I'm not the type to let dishes stack up or things of that nature

Do you have any hidden talents or unique traits about yourself? I've talked a lot about my other hobbies and pursuits a lot on here, no need to rehash

Lemmon's performance was tremendous. I got the 10th Anniversary special edition DVD the day it came out, and it has some cool extras in it, including a tribute to Jack Lemmon. Been years since I watched them, but somewhere in there I believe they said he was an underdog choice for the role because he was mainly known for comedy and they weren't sure if he could pull off the role. Correct me if I'm wrong about that, because I could be confusing that story with his choice for the role in "Days of Wine and Roses". For an old film, that's a really effective story about alcoholism.

Back to Glengarry, someone who knew my love for this film recommended Boiler Room to me years ago saying Ben Affleck pulls an Alex Baldwin in it. What I saw was Ben Affleck trying to mimic but paling in comparison to Baldwin's scene, and I think he even mentions "GGGR" in his rant which I took as a weak attempt by the scriptwriters to credit the inspiration to avoid criticism that they were ripping off the part. I don't think they should have gone there at all. I mean, how can you top THIS???

Baldwin didn't even associate with the other actors when he came in to do his role. I think he hung out in his trailer until it was time to shoot because he didn't want anything to compromise the unlikeability of his character.

All the acting was incredible, and I enjoyed Ed Harris' role quite a bit too. He's like the cowardly kid in school who resents getting kicked around by the A-groupers, and lets the s*** roll downhill by manipulating the weaker people who look up to him. Yeah, the manipulation in the film is incredible from all angles. I have a relative who can't even watch the film because it brings back bad memories of past coworkers.

Another really diverse actor -- Jonathan Pryce, who plays an extremely insecure guy who falls prey to the con. The next time I saw him on screen, he was the main villain in a James Bond film.

It couldn't have been for that role, I wouldn't think, because he's known for many fine dramatic performances. But maybe he was an underdog for the part. I didn't know that about Baldwin, but that's an interesting fact since he did play such a hated character.

Here's a clip with great acting with Ed Harris, Pacino, and Jack Lemmon thinking he's back on top and recounting how he nailed a contract, of course, not knowing he was set up. Terrific scenes.

You're right -- I think Lemmon told that story in an original promotional interview I found in the Days of Wine and Roses DVD extras.

Jana wrote:I didn't know that about Baldwin, but that's an interesting fact since he did play such a hated character.

Yeah, he wanted the tension to be as real as possible. Talk about staying in character huh?

Definitely, and thanks to that I just realized they have the whole film on YouTube! Wow... Here's some interesting stuff -- one website gives it the #2 slot on "10 Movies to Avoid on a First Date". :

http://blog.zap2it.com/thedishrag/2009/ ... ously.html

Now check this out! Here is a quote from Alec Baldwin from last November. WHAT?!? Is he fishing for a compliment?

"I don't have any interest in acting anymore," Alec Baldwin, 51, tells the December issue of "Men's Journal."

"I consider my entire movie career a complete failure," he added. "The goal of movie-making is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that. Every movie I've ever been in, I just avoid."

Nuts... GGGR has a 98% positive rating on RottenTomatoes.com.

One more quick thing -- it's really interesting that the film came from a play, and once place where you can see those roots is that the entire 1:40 movie only takes place in a very small handful of long scenes. There's the restaurant, the office, a house, and a phone booth -- not much else.
