Whoever you like and don't like, it's still ironic tough talk considering Dave can't beat Leno and by March 1 he'll be getting beat again![]()
When all is said and done, I really don't see how ANYONE can stand Leno, or find his stale, formulaic, "safe" humor funny at all. To each their own, I guess...
I used to like Leno, but he has definitely gotten stale. I watched Letterman thursday night and it was simply DREADFUL. The monologue was awful. He's not funny at all, it's depressing. It's like listening to that disgruntled old guy widower cracking "jokes" about every one and everything around him while sipping beer on his porch.
I also used to like Conan, but for whatever reason, I guess I just grew out of the silly humor he tends to use as a monologue/joke delivery guy involving facial expressions, voices, and sound effects.
I still think Conan is a tremendous, genuine guy.
But, his strengths were always the "spot" bits that he did all the time on his old show, like Triumph the INsult Dog, "In The Year 2000" and the presidential/celebrity TV puppets or whatever you call them. That kinda stuff just doesn't appeal to the older demographic as much, I don't think. As a straight monologue/joke/delivery guy, he just didn't work on The Tonight Show for a lotta people.
