Hmm, we don't have those bars here! I am thinking mine are better only because they are made at a candy shop, fresh. So usually the chocolate is better and creamier when you buy it from an actual place that makes the candy. But I'd have to try that bar to know for sure! Is that Canadian?

Really? They sell a lot of Cadbury here, but I don't think I've ever seen those! I should check. I think there must be other places that sell that sponge candy too, maybe somewhere closer! But I think Erie has 3 local chocolatiers who make it! They're all good. you can order it online, but living in Florida, I worry it will melt in the mail

Flan is one of my favorite desserts on the planet. There is a local hole-in-the-wall Mexicano grocery/restaurant where they sell huge cubes of flan with plenty of light caramel sauce for about $1.25. So much better a deal than those small round ones you get for $2.95 at most restaurants. Also love Horchata, especially on a hot day. My other weakness is baklava, even better with pistachios -- yumm!!!

Do people who normally eat shellfish have problems when they eat these? Is that why they're "allergen clad"? (I have a class 5 allergy to all shellfish, so I get to carry an epi-pen around because of it)

So it seems...'Shellfish' I think is a blanket parent group covering mollusks & crustaceans (crabs & co.) in the allergen hierarchy.

They also had this thing called "rellenitos" - sugared plantains stuffed with black beans... yum!

This place will definitely become a "must" on all future Cali visits.

There's a place called Porto's in Burbank and Glendale that our office uses for all our holiday and Birthday gigs. It just awesome. There's a few other bakeries there that we used to use on a rotating basis for the morning donut delivery when I worked at Nick Animation but Porto's is king for me.

Martino's isn't bad either

Muscovado, unrefined coarse organic red (customarily...dark brown de facto ) "sugar" from sugarcane juice, still bursting with inherent natural minerals...preferably fresh off a crude rustic mill, with compacted by-products yet unsegregated...

But, doesn't a plant have feelings? I know it can't scream or anything.........but my science teacher said you eat a salad while it is still living.  I just don't understand the whole vegan thing. But as I said to each it's own. If it bothers your beleifs to eat it, then I say refrain. I can respect ones decision to do so. :D

Oh Gunbot, shame on you for reminding me. Well, I'll recover by tomorrow. I am going to a sale with 2 for $ 5 for Lindor truffles and I have 2 $1 coupons off. That means I can eat them with less guilt as in 2 for $3.00.
