Here's food for thought...do you think it's possible that, since the radio station is in the UK, maybe they got their wires crossed altogether and were accidentally given the contact info for one the other Steve Perry's who just so happend to be in New York? There are two other singers with the same name (Cherry Poppin' Daddy's frontman and an R&B singer). I know it's sounds far-fetched, but it would explain the 48 hour, 3,00+ mile oops.

That's too much thinking for me.

Well, I learned that DSB/Journey is hitting it big in the UK all these years after the fact! That's mighty impressive...if I remember correctly they never toured there when SP was with the band back then. Success.
And, look with the re-recording of "We are the World" (which personally I wish they didn't), another old song will find a new life...maybe, another SP interview?!

I enjoyed it.
In the UK we never get anything like that.
The only interviews I have heard from SP have been from links posted on here.

Lora, Cyndy when you next speak to him, please tell him thanks. It was a real treat to hear him interviewed on a UK radio station.
A real treat.

He did several phoners today with UK media. The others were recorded to be broadcast later on various stations. I believe they were all short - the Planet Rock phoner was the longest. I'm not sure on which stations or when the other interviews will show up but if we get any further info, we will post it.

To be kept constantly waiting for the guy, only to have him emerge and say the same old stuff... How can anybody still be holding their breath for him? I don't get it.
I was THE hugest SP fan. Swear to God. He's the reason I wanted to sing. Greatest friggin rock voice of all time... But man... I just can't support the guy any longer. It's nice that he came out to throw out his usual tidbits of information (which have already been heard a billion times) but man, there's just NOTHING there.

It'd be nice to get SOMETHING in the way of information about what he's doing, etc. If he's doing nothing- great-Say it. According to the interview, he's really not.

All the predictions about albums in 2010, etc. appear to be nothing more than BS if you listen to the man himself. But others out there 'in the know' claim differently. Why?

Whatever. Keep waiting on him and good luck to ya. To me, he's the biggest dissapointment Rock and Roll ever had. That doesn't take anything away from his legacy, but damn, enough of the waiting.

Thanks for the info Lora.I would imagine one of the stations would be BBC Radio 2 as a few of the DJ's have played various Journey and Steve's solo stuff before DSB became so popular again.

I don't think he's asking you to hold your breath or support him. He never said he had an album ready for release so it is not his fault if people created their own illusions of that happening and are disappointed that it hasn't. He was contacted by Sony to do these interviews to promote something he is very proud of. Nothing wrong with that. I guess I can't relate to all this misplaced anger.

He didn't say anything different than he said for the last few years and most of it was verbatim. That wasn't the point of the interview.

Looks like it didn't hurt them.

Its a great sadness to me that we never got the chance to see and hear Steve over here. I didn't hear Escape until after their first mini tour here, so I missed them.
And it is only since the internet that people like me have been able to get any information about him at all. And thank Goodness for youtube and the Escape and Greatest Hits DVD's. Without them I would never have even seen the guy on a stage. So yes, it does hurt a bit that a singer I [and many other Brits] hold in such esteem only performed here once - but, thanks to the 'net I know that he gave his reasons for not returning here. Punk was huge and he thought we weren't interested in Journey's music. An easy mistake to make. He was wrong. We were interested, but I can understand why he thought we weren't.

And maybe as Bry says, he didn't really say anything you guys haven't heard before, but WE haven't heard it and WE haven't had the privilege of hearing him speak to us until now. So it was a treat to me.

And nice of him to take time out of his day to give the interview.

Well, I thought so, anyway.

I haven't heard the interview but from the things that Steve talks about in the open shows he is a very sensitive guy and that's why I think is a big reason we got some of the best music in rock and roll history from him. I am glad he is well and can't wait to hear the interview but would be lieing to say I wasn't disappointed about not getting a release date. Doesn't sound like there will be one anytime soon. :( :(

And you know what else?

As a fan since Escape came out, it has pissed me off for years that Steve's solo stuff or Journey's stuff didn't get as much airplay on UK radio as I think it deserved.

And it's a real buzz to hear their stuff being played here now.

Maybe I'm easily pleased but so what.

I'm enjoying hearing them on my radio Band it's great tharits who never knew the difference between Journey, Boston or Foreigner are now all singing DSB.

It's great!

SusieP- I get why you'd think it was cool- Britain hasn't really gotten to hear the whole Journey thing first hand.
I just don't get the rest of it, but hey, to each their own. Tired of waiting on the guy.
