Apolo needs one more medal to hold the record and he still has 3 more events. There's no way he won't do this! :D

Did you see how he "won" his Silver medal? If not, you need to watch the race. he was a soundly beaten 4th, when two of the South Koreans took each other out when one got greedy and tried to go from bronze to silver. I can't see Ohno getting any gold.

Yeah, I'm glad he got it, but he didn't really win it. Won it by default That was a fluke for a fall to happen that close to the finish line. Falls happen, but right there so close was a gift to Apolo. I love him, though. I hope he wins another medal here.

This is a touchy subject. Japan's Aya Yasuda has been disqualified from the women's luge event Tuesday for being over weight.

Not "overweight." At 132 pounds, Yasuda is the ideal size for luging. It's her equipment that weighs too much.

Because of a miscalculation, Yasuda brought too much ballast with her to weigh-ins for Tuesday's competition. Lugers are allowed 13.1 kg of "additional weight." Yasuda brought 13.3.

Though there is no weight requirement for luge, women who weigh less than 75 kg (Yasuda weighs roughly 60 kg) may make up 75 percent of that difference without going over the limit. Yasuda exceeded that limit by less than half a pound.

Though Yasuda was not expected to be a medal contender, this would have been her first Olympics. It's unfortunate that the equivalent of the weight of a cheeseburger would keep her from competing, especially when it's the result of accidentally miscalculating a somewhat complex formula. But so are the rules..the IOC has to draw the line somwhere, and a small technicality can mean an athlete can't compete.

She should have taken a nice dump before her weigh-in.

Yes I saw how he won it... I saw the two Koreans ahead of him wipe the hell out and crash into a wall. You're not supposed to do that. Apolo didn't wipe out. The Koreans did wipe out. Therefore, Apolo did his job and skated the way he was supposed to. The Koreans did not skate the way they were supposed to.

Skated the way he was supposed to? Are you drunk? He was a well beaten 4th. He lucked into a silver. He wasn't even close to the winner.

Skated the way he was supposed to = did not fall the fuck down.
He didn't even trip over the dang Korean pile up!! He's a ninja. :D

So, if the two Koreans had wiped out early on and fell behind because of it, would that be different?

So does this mean that Seth Westcott didn't deserve his medal either, since he had been last until Holland wiped out and cleared the way?

Hey if you're happy with that silver, more power to you. I am just telling you it was a backdoor silver. Don't get me wrong, I love it when the dude goes from 4th to first in half a lap, I am just saying those two fuckin Koreans gave him some metal.

So if Canada gets a goal against the US on a cheap power play, where there was no real penalty, will that not chap your ass? As a fan of Team Canada, I will take the gold, but won't feel satisfied. I want to win it the right way or I don't want anything.

And Westcott flat out beat the Canadian in the final 5 feet. Props to him.

Part of winning is staying on your feet. :D I don't know the exact rules of short track skating, but bumping & interfering is not allowed. I don't know what the two Koreans did to trip each other out of the race, but Apolo didn't bump anyone. He's got speed & finesse and he deserves all his medals.

Can't wait to see the American snowboarding girl, Lindsey do her race. At the last Olympics she was near the finish line, way ahead with the Gold medal in sight and she got a little cocky, grabbed her board having fun and boom...she wiped out and lost the Gold. That's what makes the Olympic games so fun (obviously, excluding the luge accident)...ya never know what could happen. I also love the artistry of what the human body is capable of...not just strength or speed but control & balance...just look at the photos capturing the athletes in motion...like Apolo...like in this pic...it doesn't even look humanly possible: http://x6c.xanga.com/3afb2a756423336793 ... 312694.jpg

That's the first thing I thought of when they showed him in a straight shot while he was on the ice. I had never heard that b/f until reading this just now, but at that angle I saw it before reading here.
