No shit. I think Hoosiers love John for his music but realize he's an uber lib at heart. This is the guy who said the Statue of Liberty meant nothing to him, and that he didn't care if it fell down. I've hated him ever since he said that, and I was one of his biggest fans at the time.

No political stance would ever stop me from loving a good artist's music (see: Bruce, CSNY, Jackson Browne). With that said, Mellencamp is a fucking moron. I do love his music, or at least the old stuff... I think recent tours have seen him try to go folk and go all political-hippie

Plug the guitar in, crank it up, and let Hurts So Good, I Need a Lover, and Jack and Diane rip please...

I lost respect for him when I ended up sitting through a 20 minute political video on the screen right in the middle of his concert. That's not what I paid money to see. I like his music, but will never spend another penny to see him live again.

The only one worse for Indiana than Mellonmoroncamp would be Dave Letterman. Oh wait I forgot the mayor of Gary, Rudy Clay would be the worst, that guy is an absolute piece of work.

Me too! His Lonesome Jubilee tour is still up there in my top five favorite concerts of all time. He had the whole arena up dancin' and rockin' to Cherry Bomb, Authority Song, etc........was a great concert. :)

LOL, stay out of politics and stick to music. 8)

But I thought that Mellencamp fought authority. And we know authority always wins.
I sense a fail.

But seriously... how they gonna get that big ol' forehead through the Capital doors? :?:

Huh? A lot of people supported Edwards. I liked his politics. I liked his "Two Americas" pitch. How could any of us have known he was stuffing another woman?

By the way, back in 2003, in the Iowa Caucus, Edwards lost to Kerry. I am a believer that if that ticket were reversed, Edwards/Kerry, they would have won the presidency in 2004.

Well, you coulda guessed that possibility was there, seeing as he was an overly slick sleaze ball trial lawyer who made a fortune chasing ambulances like a dog chases its tail.

You liked Edwards, "If you elect John Kerry, Christopher Reeve will walk again"? I didn't take you as the type to watch prophets in Armani suits that represent big mega-churches offering to heal someone for mailing in a couple of bucks. Edwards disgusts me as much if not more than those preachers.

Edwards always struck me as a transparent phony, but you're playing fast and loose with the quote.
He said:
"If we do the work that we can do in this country, the work that we will do when John Kerry is president, people like Christopher Reeve are going to walk, get up out of that wheelchair and walk again."
And as a general statement about expanding science funding, he's spot on.
It's not a coincidence that Dolly the Sheep was cloned in Scotland and the first face transplants came out of France.
We are falling behind big time.
We spend entirely too much R&D on the next Viagra knock-off, rather than truly life-altering breakthroughs.

And yet, strangely, your boy Rush can make fun of Michael J. Fox's Parkinsons, and you think he's an outstanding patriotic American.
Funny how that works.

Actually, her son, Trig, is afflicted with Down syndrome, not her daughter.
And unlike RedWing, I’m not the one piously calling out public figures, like Edwards, for piggybacking onto someone's disability for political gain
Go right ahead and poke fun at Christopher Reeve, Palin’s backwoods clan, or Michael J. Fox.
See if I give a fuck.
