I thought he couldn't do any worse than Two Fires and Vu.....F2F proved me wrong. That CD was the worst I've ever bought, and I've bought some lame ones.

say what u want too..but Fly 2 Freedom beats the tee total shit out of arnie's remakes.

I disagree my man. I like Chalfant's version but the rerecords are way better. More of a live feeling. :D

Kevin's Open Arms was awesome on F2F, but so is Arnel's. I like both CDs, but on the whole Arnel's edges it out b/c of his energy on it vocally. I don't get the total bashing of Arnel at every turn and giving him no due at all by SG.

Dont hate me for believing in the Chalfanator!!!! Truthfully, Im just devastated that he didnt get the gig.

I take it back. Kevin's recorded Open Arms is much better than Arnel on the rerecords (just relistened to them), but I do love Arnel live in concert on Open Arms. He nails it every time.

Kevin is a vocal talent, and when they were reforming, with Rolie back in '95, he would have been great, but he's too old for the gig now, SG. Just a fact.

Dude, Soto was not the right fit for the band plus JSS blew his chance and he knows why.

It was a smart move on Neal's part for the future of Journey. His reasons were sound and the outcome was amazing - Arnel.

Jana, this aint karaoke or some cover band, its Journey, and arnie boy is way out of his league. I think Journey's buswiness is going into a recession thanks to their "frontman".

Oh I would love to know why. You have no fucking clue. I was as close as you could get to him. There's no way you know more than I do about this. I spoke to the man himself, face to face for hours and days on end. I know you think you are somebody, and my guess is you are a crew member of the band, but who are people going to believe? A guy like you is a friend or an ally of Schon, a proven liar, or me despite all my faults, who knows Soto and Soto is as honest a straight shooter as you will ever get. You're fuckin' warped. Stop trying to put the Journey spin on things. For God's sake Gator, don't believe a fuckin' word he tries to tell you. He has NO credibility. He is trying to spin this from the group's side of things. I can speak the direct truth because I know exactly what the fuck happened, not that I am going to speak to all instances, because Soto probably doesn't want that, but be forewarned this motherfucker is dead wrong in everything he says. I would never have entered this thread, but someone who knows has to say something. Now he will come in tell you all I am full of shit and blah blah blah, but I think people here know I have been pretty solid in Journey tales.

You're delusional, SG. They're doing fantastic.

And karaoke and out of his league is your perception, but, apparently, a lot of people disagree judging by their success. My friend thought JSS was karaoke, the word she used, and said she felt bad for JSS b/c he was trying but his vocals trying to do Perry songs wasn't working and was about to give up on Journey until Arnel was hired. I don't think JSS was karaoke, but wrong fit for Journey. I don't think any of the singers after Perry were karaoke.

Personally, I absolutely loathe name-droppers. Anyone who chimes in about having inside information is just playing the I'm cool card. it's the 'I Know something you don't' syndrome.....

But I will say that - God forbid if someone joins this board who has more info than the self-appointed, supposed - cool people on this board.....

posted on Facebook yesterday:

Frontiers confirmed what I have been keeping a secret. I have been quietly building a new Two Fires cd over the past year and a half. My band stepped up & we are nearing completion. We will be finalizing the project soon, release date is roughly August. No hurry right? I am also booking a European tour having conversations with several concert promoters. Have a great weekend everyone. Kevin

Sorry Gator, I'm going to have to disagree with your Arnel hate. Of course, Arnel is not going to please everybody, esp diehards, so I can only speak for myself and I respect everyone's opinion on why a certain singer doesn't live up to their musical taste.

Here's my opinion. Your hearing has to be absolutely delusional to categorize Arnel Pineda as a karaoke singer. It just isn't right nor does it make remotely sense. Arnel has solidly came into his own and is an UPRIGHT pro in how he handles himself not only onstage, but off the stage. I'm a big, BIG Steve Augeri fan, and I've seen Jeff Scott Soto 3 times on the D/L tour and let me say that those shows couldn't even come close to rocking as hard as Arnel as the front man. His vocals fit Journey's style perfectly and I now can NOT say the same thing for a guy like Soto, or Augeri who blew out his voice and never even reached the level of vocal capability Arnel has showed in 2 young years.

I never got that "blown away feeling" with a live Soto as I first heard Arnel belt out his first note live. I loved that Soto was there at the time, but there is NO QUESTION who is the right fit for this job and Arnel knocks it out of the park with no outs. Also, cut the guy slack, they threw him in the fire, had to fly him overseas out of his native Country, all the while recording a HIGHLY anticipated album in Revelation in all of a few months, who happens to be paired with an 80's AMERICAN MEGA BAND that is Journey. The man stepped up and proved that he can handle the job when his life prior was nothing but rags and getting by in garbage circumstances. Arnel's a gem, and that's no disrespect to Steve Augeri, Jeff Scott Soto, Jeremey, Kevin Chalfant, or someone like Hugo who are A-L-L top notch performers in their own deserved right.
