Seems this keeps getting pushed back or your source (the source) is wrong.

I had originally heard March.

Excuse me, it's April.

Chubby seems to be right. I haven't kept up lately and it looks like that's the word now. My point though was really about the new album -- he's not going anywhere. :)

Goin' nowhere. His voice is sounding fantastic.

Actually, doing these little gigs lately has probably been good for him. Vocals are a use it or lose it thing, as long as they are not abused. He's gonna come out rockin for the new album. Can't wait! :D

Probably. I'd say don't listen to any of the shit you hear out there. There is a new album coming out and there is a big world tour planned for 2011. Those are not things you plan for when it is known that a member is on the way out. I understand there are a handful of dissenters out there over a few different forums who would like nothing better than for this news to be true, but they are a major minority. Even if they got their wish, then what? It's not like just anyone can carry the Journey catalog though a world tour. Some people need a reality check.

Oh yes and I always look to you for my reality check!

You're starting to cave. You'll be an Arneliot before it's all over. j/k But I think the dude can sing circles around anyone else vying for the job. And I don't include JSS in this, because he isn't vying for the job. I sure would have loved to have seen what he would have been like on a new Journey record. But I'm happy with what is. And Jeff is working his ass off too, making great music, so all is well with the world. The only thing that could make me happier, is if Perry could rejoin for one more hurrah! Now wouldn't that be nice?

After listening to "sappy" FTLOSM with its thousand co-writers, I would say Jon Cain and Neal were a HUGE part of the songwriting, too.

No, it's not "time to realize Perry was the voice," because we all already know that. And they're not the huge band they were? So what. They're still a successful band and I love a lot of the music they've made after Perry (some of my all-time favorite Journey songs), so they're still creative. Tears for Fears isn't huge like the 80s and their CD this decade didn't even make Gold, but I love it. Should I not b/c it isn't a multiplatinum album like their heyday?

Actually, in the 90s, no, and I followed Roland with his new regrouping under the TFF moniker and loved both albums, even though one, Elemental, only went Gold and the other, RTKOS, was a poor seller (somewhat like a concept album). In 2004 they did reunite and still didn't sell huge on their new CD.

And I will always repeat, I love Arrival more than TBF. Arrival didn't even make Gold and didn't have Perry, but it's better to me as far as an album I still go to listening..

Did Journey sack Arnel Pineda?
By ALEX VALENTIN BROSAS
February 19, 2010, 3:51pm

Journey frontman Arnel Pineda was utterly surprised over rumors that he has been sacked from the popular rock group.

According to rumors, Arnel’s contract was not renewed by the group.

Journey is also said to be lacking in gigs in the US.

The singer is clueless abut the recent controversy that befell him.

When Tears For Fears was w/out Smith they made their best song "Break It Down Again" and best overall album, Raul & The Kings Of Spain.
Are they plannning a follow up to Happy Ending soon? I thought that record was good in many spots.

Regarding the topic, I'd sit on my lawn and stick rotten apples up my ass if Pineda wasn't the singer on the next album, that's how confident I am.

I thought the songs Elemental and BIDA were fantastic, and, I agree with you on RATKOS. I still listen to it. They've said they have no plans to release another album, but were talking about a live one being released soon. But I have seen no signs of it. A remastered version has been released last year of RATKS with four bonus tracks and a couple acoustic live songs. They don't really tour. The've done a handful of shows every other year on the west coast. but I think they enjoyed it this summer when they got together and so are going to do some shows this year and come to the east coast. And Roland even sings BITDA and RATKOS in concert and Curt, I guess, doesn't have a problem with it.

I think it was b/c ELAHE didn't sell that well that they're not putting out a new album, so not worth it to them trying to get a deal, plus they live in different countries. They always said coming back together and doing ELAHE was b/c they had had such an ugly split and wanted to leave it in a better place and said that might be the end then. I wish they would do another album and bring back the sound with the saxophone in it.

He did a concert for his charity in Dubai last week, I think it was. About a 30 song setlist.

It would be interesting to see how long his star would shine without being in Journey. Even at the last few gigs he's done he hasn't sang even more than one of his originally penned songs. He's already got some media critics in his homeland deriding him and Charice for not creating their own identity as they continue to to play the covers circuit. If he can't write, at least have some local well known Filipino talent write songs specifically for him that might appeal to that audience if only to test the waters for when his career with Journey is over.

Not like the guy's had a ton of time to get writers together or write his own stuff since the Journey tour's been over. Also, if he's not faced with "I'll have no band after 6 months for the rest of my life", there's really no hurry for him to do this.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I think in that interview in Dubai he discussed he has lots of ideas and interest for the future, I took regarding his solo career, but stated his focus was Journey right now.
