JOURNEY RELEASES VINTAGE 1981 TOKYO GIG

Out now on import is Journey: Live In Japan. The two-disc vault release was recorded on July 31st, 1981 -- the same day that the band's multiplatinum breakthrough album Escape was released. The concert features Journey's classic early-'80s lineup of Steve Perry, Neal Schon, Ross Vallory, Jonathan Cain, and Steve Smith.

Among the classic tunes performed that night at Tokyo's Budokan Arena were "Don't Stop Believing," "Stone In Love," "Lights," "Wheel In The Sky," "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'," and "Any Way You Want It," among others.

Journey cofounder Neal Schon, who's the sole member of the band's original 1973 lineup still on board, says that over 35 years after their first gig -- he honestly can't recall a bad show, or a lousy audience: "The audience that we've, you know, attained and kept throughout these years, I mean, it's just been unbelievable. And all the shows that we played to those audiences -- they were all great. I don't remember playing a, a show that was bad, ever, or that people didn't like or, you know, something bad happened."

The tracklisting to Journey: Live In Japan is: "Where Were You," "Line Of Fire," "Don't Stop Believing," "Stone In Love," "Keep On Runnin'," "Guitar Interlude," "Who's Crying Now," "Lay It Down," "Piano Solo," "Dead Or Alive "Turn Around In Tokyo," "Lights," "Stay Awhile," "Too Late," "Dixie Highway," "Lovin' You Is Easy," "Guitar Solo," "La Do Da," "Drum Solo," "The Party's Over (Hopelessly In Love)," "Wheel In The Sky," "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'," and "Any Way You Want It."
