Y-E-S! I'm a HUGE wrestling mark, huge. We need to keep this thread going. I'm against the WWE, always have been a big WCW fan and remain bitter at the buyout of WCW from McMahon. Now I'm a big TNA mark. Monday Night Wars are coming back starting March 8th, so get your pop corn ready.

Anyone watch the Elimination Chamber PPV last night? Terrible, so predictable it wasn't even remotely funny anymore. Taker lost the belt and will go up against HBK for the second straight year at Wrestlemania, which anyone who watches knew that was coming as far back as December!

I was a huge fan when it was REALLY big in the mainstream like 10, 11 years ago. They had a great cast of colorful characters back then on both WCW and WWF/E. Nowadays, the few times I've stumbled on Raw or whatveer it's called while looking for something to watch at night, it seems they've totally run out of ideas.

Dude, for years there in the mid 90s wrestling, love it or hate it, had quite a nice run. It was consistently way up at the top of the ratings every single Monday night. A lot of that had to do with the characters they had back then.

Nah, I haven't seen it yet but I rarely do anymore. WWE is really lame at the moment, with that ugly ass dwarf and Sheamus. No one's gonna mark for him, ever (Please google Sheamus; you'll first get shocked and then laugh your ass off)

I like the technical aspect of it, wrestlers like Angle, HBK and Eddie Guerrero. JBL was pretty cool though. Doesn't TNA have Hogan now? He can't wrestle for shit

Not necessarily. WCW: Bash at the Beach 1996. The formation of the nWo. Hulk Hogan/Kevin Nash/Scott Hall. Something wrestling have never seen before and this was the angle that drove wrestling into the mainstream of top notch popularity. Wrestling will always be wrestling. There isn't much give to what you could do as far as freshness. It's how you pull it off during an angle and build of a certain gimmick and character to spin a story for entrainment and appeal. Wrestling will always be good vs evil, period and it'll always run circles around it.

I remember Hogan saying that they were having major problems as far as creativity as far back as 1995 and the nWo angle slowly transformed into turning the American Hero of wrestling, the model of all citizens and kids around the world a bad guy which broke many hearts and turned the business upside down. The Red and Yellow was now Black and White.

Since then, and since the attitude era of the Rock/Stone Cold around 1999, and since Vince bought his competition in 2001 in WCW, wrestling was on a downward spiral and are struggling mighty to come up with that freshness and uniqueness of the nWo. Hogan and Flair are both in TNA now and the TNA product is light years from where the stale WWE is at this point, they just need the recognition and pull value of the audience now. As of right now, Thursday nights, 9pm, spike TV is TNA's time slot but they now got the deal done to return the Monday Night Wars, ala the WCW VS WWF days of when wrestling was at the height of their popularity, starting March 8th. Great for the business and could turn it back around.

Yeah, the WWE is ridiculously embarrassing. Hogan is in TNA now, but is pretty much signed a contract to take control of the company and turn it more into the wrestling product that wrestling was meant to be and is an on screen character of management rather than a wrestler. It's confirmed that Flair and Hogan will wrestle on the March 8th show, but it won't be what you think. If you like technical wreslting then TNA will make your jaw drop. The best I've ever seen and they have UNREAL in ring workers, something WWE is lacking in pretty badly.

PPV was TERRIBLE, a big yawner. HBK and Taker are legends that I'll always love, and they are said to take a break from TV for a little while since they are both banged up. Other than that, WWE is just getting by only because of 0 competition, which will all change soon! 8)

What made wrestling great in the 80s was the fact that you had to wait til Saturday morning to watch it.....ONE day. Today it is all in your face.

I liked watching a grown man eat the turnbuckles.....

If I'm gonna watch a bunch of guys stick their nuts in each other's faces they had damn well better be naked.

Otherwise....... women wrestlers are the only ones worth watching.

I'm sure you've seen a soap opera and probably liked one at a certain point in time. Maybe a T.V show? Wrestling is a story mixed in with top notch athletes that work together in telling a story in the ring to where they show a mixture of brute strength, agility, and athleticism to the point of danger to the body. I've ALWAYS had a respect for wrestlers and what they do is NOT easy.

They sell their body pretty harshly just to get a pop or cheer out of the thousands in attendance. Anyone can sit there and say it's fake and the story always is, but the bumps, broken bones, dislocated hips, neck injuries, knee replacements and missed aligned back ailment is certainly real. One single chair shot to the head can gash you open and 20 some stitches could follow. Also, concussions play a big part in wrestling which led to the deaths of many well known wrestlers today and of the past. Entertainment yes, but top notch athletes and workers as well.
