Nope, I blame lazy, self-loathing people, not any food additive

Your wrong. I went 60lbs overweight due to no change in diet, caused by a thyroid condition. There are people who are predisposed to weigh gain without eating like trough hogs. Obesity is not a one size fits all situation. Fortunately, I got my situation under control medically and am now a normal weight.

Understandable, but that's certainly not everyone's excuse. Furthermore, a thyroid condition, not a food additive caused your problem.

My problem with the food additives is this. I want to clarify what I meant. See, we have people being told day in and day out to eat better. We all eat horrible. Make better choices. So what do people do? Do they go out and by fruits and veggies and throw away the cookies and crackers and chips? No! They still buy them, but they switch to what they see as the "healthier" choice. So they go to those "lowfat" cookies, because hey, they are less fat right?? Less fat means weight loss! Well wrong! When they take out fat, they add the corn fructose. And that corn fructose may as well be eating sugar from a bowl! It's not a good thing for being healthy or weight loss. I think there is a lot of misinformation in the marketing of these items and thats' where it came from. Food additives alone are not the main cause, just to make that clear. But they definitely add to the problem when it's added to so many of our foods!

This is the funniest statement I've ever read!  Don't get me wrong... Science HAS produced a lot of knowledge and benefits. There are many areas of science that are great that we learn from (Chemistry, biology, physics, etc...). The problem is that evolution is not science. It's a religion. It can't be replicated in a lab, or proved to be true. It's a hypothesis... a belief by most modern scientists. That doesn't make it a fact.

Absolutely no argument from me on any of those points. The other thing is that they think by buying the low fat or "healthier" alternative that they can then just go nuts - eg, buy a bag of Baked Lays and pound the whole thing while watching TV at night. No way .

I worded it wrong, sue me. My point was that thanks to science, we can now put some answers to age old questions. There is nothing wrong with learning and religion likes to stick to what the book tells them. If it were up to the book, the Grand Canyon would have been caused by the great flood and the world is only 6000 years old.

Exactly! I mean the baked lays are definitely healthier than the other option. But still not healthy and you have to read portion sizes on the bag. Eating a whole bad of anything is never a good idea. I think the fact it's baked makes it more tempting to eat more of it. I can't open bags of that stuff or I do eat too much of it. I only open bags of chips when we have people over. Otherwise they stay sealed! I have no self control once a bag is unsealed, don't ask me why a sealed bag is different!!  That way the kids aren't eating it everyday either.

I mean yeah, if you're at Subway getting the combo meal, it's definitely better to grab a small bag of the baked (they taste better to me anyway). But man, those big bags spell trouble for me. I usually only buy them if expecting company

Science welcomes scepticism, encourages every theory to be debated and proven false if possible. If there is a better theory out there, let the evidence be introduced and put through the highest scrutiny. It's only fair that alternative ideas be subject to a uniform standard of testing.

Nothing, if that's what you want to believe. Evidence suggests it is 17 million years old and reveals up to 2 billion years of the earth in it's layers. I am not confirming or denying anything, but I am going to go with the better theory. I understand if you want to be skeptical. Everyone has their own beliefs.

Do you also understand that a good portion of that river would have had to flow uphill to form it? There's a HUGE misconception about the layers of the earth and the geologic column. The geologic column exists nowhere but in text books. If you were trying to find out how old a fossil is and took it to the leading scientists, they'd ask you what layer of earth it came from. They date the fossils according to the "age" of the dirt, and date the earth based on what fossils they find in it. It's circular reasoning!

I know the next thing to be discussed will be carbon dating, but it's been proved wrong! On top of that, they base the entire formula on the fact that radiocarbon has always broke down at the same rate. Nobody KNOWS that it has always broken down at that rate for a fact. Nobody.

And what would be wrong with the great flood forming the Grand Canyon?

Nobody.

Are you taking requests this afternoon? I would like to hear this tune:

Not happening today. I've been sick for a week now, and I've been on the couch for days. As a matter of fact, that couch is calling my name. You guys will just have to argue without me!
