I've been going thru some situations lately; been under a lot of stress.
I had to put myself on "autopilot" and put the blinders on, so to speak, just to get through the days.

I am no longer dealing with those situations....but now, that I have a chance to RELAX, I've been in a ton of pain! :x
The muscles in my back, arms, and legs are absolutely KILLING me!!

I haven't had a chance to get to my Dance Class in a few weeks, due to the Mixing Sessions of our new CD ~ I've GOT TO get back there! I know that exercise is the best thing for this, etc....

So, my question is:

 Is this a normal reaction? Is the stress kind of "working its way out"....or something.....?

YES. Get a proper massage. I've had similar things recently and my wife's an LMP. She fixed me up before a couple of shows and it worked wonders.

OH THANK GOD!

Thanks....going to make an appointment.

One more thing- extra stiffness and stuff could be a sign that you're getting some kind of cold or something.
Same deal last week, wifey fixed me up great, went out and sang fine (the day before I had no voice) and the next day- I came down with bronchitus. Could be related.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

stiffness... created by stress. is a normal thing... and also stiffness is created by sitting at a desk job for over 25 years... that will do it too...
I will 2nd that getting a great proper massage is an awesome stress reliever.. love massages, when I have the time and the finances... this along with a great work out...helps solve the stress issue in a good way!!!

If you smoke; stop it. If you don't work out; start doing it.

Yoga is real good if you stress a lot..

Problem solved :)

Are you sure because I hear smoking helps relax...and perhaps she could use surgery too, just sayin'?!?! :?

Nora, I hope you feel better soon. Exercise, exercise, exercise ...kickbox your stress away!!

It's a myth. Smoking stresses your body a whole lot. And this is for everyone: work out!

Running, pilates, Boxing, swimming, banging your wife/fleshlight - whatever. Just work out. That solves a immense number of issues right there.

Just got back in from Garden Cleanup - my rock-garden & front garden - approx. 1 hour of raking / clearing out debris.

Manual work (disguised as exercise) never killed anybody! LOL

Yipe....I sound like my Mother!

Nora, I've been rummaging through my house trying to look for my test results from an incident that happened to me about 5 years ago & so far I haven't been able to find the papers, so let me just explain what happened the best I can on memory & maybe Parfait or one of our nurses will recognize what I'm talking about & they'll be able to connect the dots, medically speaking. You said you’re in a TON of pain & your legs are absolutely killing you. How well are you able to walk? Can you still walk normal? When was the last time you had blood work done? You might have something out of balance.

What happened to me was I woke up one morning & I couldn’t walk. I know it sounds weird but I’m serious. I couldn’t walk. My legs were in excruciating pain, the same as you described. I lifted myself out of bed by placing most of my weight onto my forearms. I was able to pull my computer chair over to the side of the bed so I could hoist my body into that & wheel myself to the bathroom. As the day went on I was finally able to walk a little, but only if I leaned against my computer chair & use it like a walker. That lasted for a couple days till I could get in to see my doctor. By Monday morning I could walk without my “walker,” but, ...... & I don’t know how else to describe this, ...... except to say that I walked like a person with polio. I couldn't stand fully upright, so I did the best I could. I wobbled back & forth with my knees turned inward almost touching one another & my feet kind of turned inward on their sides. Now, mind you, this all happened when I was only about 25 years old! I was a dancer. I was physically fit, didn’t smoke or do drugs & so I had no idea why all of the sudden I could barely walk. My ex-girlfriend, who I was still with at the time, thought I was trying to get sympathy b/c she & I had been fighting in the days that led up to this, & so she wouldn’t call the doctor, but I was finally able to get to my doctor when my mom was able to come & help me.

My doctor immediately sent me to a specialist who did all kinds of x-rays & blood work & ---- here’s where I need Parfait or someone’s medical input ----- as it turns out there was a component in my blood that I believe starts with the letter “L” that my doctor said was off the charts. He changed my diet, upped my vitamins, put me on some pain medication & had me go to physical therapy. In about a week I was 100 % fine & it was as if nothing had ever happened. I had no lasting side effects & no reoccurrences. I can’t remember what the doctor said might have caused that imbalance in my system & so that’s why I’ve been trying to find my medical papers from that experience.

Does any of this sound like what you’re going through? You know your own body better than anyone else does, so please understand that I'm not trying to diagnose you. Still, if you have even the slightest feeling that something is wrong beyond life’s normal aches & pains, you really should see a doctor. Don’t put it off if you’re still in pain. Good luck to you. I hope everything turns out okay. :D

No; I don't have any of those complications.

Bottom line, regarding your question:

When I wake up, I feel like I ran a Marathon the night before....just general muscle soreness....it IS getting better.

If I laid in bed that long my back would be so sore I wouldn't be able to move. If I sleep 8 hours I'm still and sore the next day. Of course I'm old, fat, out of shape, eat and drink too much and am totally stressed out as well. :)

That's very good to hear. I'm glad it's nothing serious & you're starting to feel a little better. Don't forget to drink lots of liquids & stretch those muscles, even if it's hard to dance right now.

BTW..... to those of you who've tried to guess what the "L" was in my blood, & to those who also PM'd me, I'm embarrassed to admit that you could have guessed all night & still not be right. I found my paperwork & I was WAY off the mark. I don't know where I was getting the "Lo..." combination. It was ESR. My paperwork reads like this, "Otherwise visibly healthy 27 y/o male with significant arthralgias, morning stiffness, acute onset, worse in morning, lessens throughout the day, markedly elevated CRP & ESR, Elevated Sedimentation Rate = 82 mm/hr. Normal Range = > 15 mm/hr." Just thought I'd solve the mystery. Carry on. :D

lol ... you probably got drunk and went sword diving with Greg Louganis. If your goal was a "positive" experience, you're a winner!

Yes. Unlike you, after a night out with "the boys."

JasonD wrote: I couldn’t walk. I know it sounds weird but I’m serious.?

Doesn't sound weird to me at all. When you let another guy pulverize your asshole until it looks like someone poured ketchup on top of chocolate icecream, not being able to walk seems pretty normal!

JasonD wrote: I was physically fit, didn’t smoke or do drugs

Liar. You were smoking the skin pole and probably on AZT.

JasonD wrote: there was a component in my blood that I believe starts with the letter “L”

Close! But I think the letter(s) you were looking for was H ... which is right before I and V.

Dan, why do you always hafta make it sound so gross? There isn’t any shit or blood involved, & as for the rest of what you said, skin is very pliable & everything goes right back to its normal size once you’re through. Plus, if you really must know, my boyfriend's very gentle. He doesn’t “pulverize” anything. I know you'd like to think we’re both disgusting, but Brandon & I are more like the couple in this montage from my favorite show, than the way that you theorize:

This one’s good too, but it's a little more volatile:

Gee, let me see ... maybe because it doesn't make any sense, is completely unnatural and has to be painful. But you know what ... nature has a way of weeding out creepy, demented shit like this. You notice 2 homos can't reproduce and the rate of HIV is exponentially higher in the fag community? That's mother nature telling you to GO FUCK YOURSELF!

JasonD wrote:Nora, I've been rummaging through my house trying to look for my test results from an incident that happened to me about 5 years ago & so far I haven't been able to find the papers, so let me just explain what happened the best I can on memory & maybe Parfait or one of our nurses will recognize what I'm talking about & they'll be able to connect the dots, medically speaking.

I just got a fuckin headache have you been pluggin blueskies?wht is leesix.

Norah, whoever said 'yoga' made a good call.

I had a nasty accident some years ago and I took yoga classes for a while. I found them to be very calming and theraputic.
I learned how to just relax, breathe and almost meditate.
And all that yoga breathing they teach you comes in really handy for singing.

Hope you feel better soon.

Stress is a killer.
You do NOT need it in your life.
