Ok. We agree.

Liberals have killed plenty of people.
If you believe the official story, JFK was murdered by a lefty.
While the media cannot be held accountable for what other people do, there is a level of responsibility that comes with being given a platform.
Beck abuses it all the time.
If this fan was snooping around the National Guard Base looking for FEMA camps, as some speculate, it stands to reason she heard it from her favorite Fox News sociopath.

conversationpc wrote: Yes, Beck pointed that out but he also has a painting of it in his office (I think?). He doesn't dislike the painting but pointed out where the painting came from.

You make it sound like Beck simply pointed this out with the incurious detachment of some museum curator.
Hardly.
Rambling about a hammer and sickle in front of Rockefeller Plaza, and how the UN building was built on land given by the Rockefellers, which is located near a sculpture donated by the former Soviet Union, all the while reaching to connect it to a secret agenda by “progressives, commies, fascists"...I’m sorry, but these are the coke-fueled ramblings of a mad man.

I hate political gatherings. I don't like the mob mentality. I don't attend them. That applies to any gatherings that Glenn puts together as well as any from the loony left. I can do my own thinking, thank you very much.

Now I'm a Marxist? You're a card-carrying Hannity acolyte, and you have the audacity to cast aspersions upon my character? Seriously - you're one Beck-summoned "town gathering" away from having your very own, private, wooded plot with a cottage and plenty of spare ammunition and combustibles. Just make sure you write plenty of letters to your brother before you start mailing packages to us, aright?

I'm sure there are a bunch of GW peeps who are now swimming around in circles since it leaked out that GW is bullshit. It created a vacuum and they have nothing left to hold on to. It's kind of like a kid who suddenly finds out there is no such thing as Santa Clause.

The difference is, Clinton did not declare a completely indefensible and unnecessary war against a sovereign nation (regardless of what an evil bastard Hussein was, 41 knew better...read his book and you'll see).

I'm pretty sure it's spelled "Santa Claus."

Dave, re-read for a few pages and you'll see.

Now that Phil Jones, the head of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia (and the epi-center of the Climategate scandal), has disavowed "the science-is-settled" slogan and narrative, can we agree to stop repeating that notion?

There's a HUGE difference between the science "not being settled" and disavowing climate change.

And yet we continue to hear advocates for AGW explicitly using that phrase or implying it, further damaging their credibility. The science is anything but settled. Nor is the debate over. If the science is not settled (an understatement that is), then all models, assumptions, conclusions, and policy prescriptions are open to question as well.

Here's a comment from an open letter written February 24 by Judith Curry, head of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Tech University. She's one of the few pro-AGW scientists convinced of the potential of catastrophic global warming who's willing to debate climate skeptics:

Judith Curry, Georgia Tech University wrote:No one really believes that the 'science is settled' or that 'the debate is over'. Scientists and others that say this seem to want to advance a particular agenda. There is nothing more detrimental to public trust than such statements.

Well said. She should be applauded for approaching the subject scientifically.

Returning to the BBC interview: by Phil Jones admitting in the BBC interview that the CRU's surface temperature data are in such disarray that they cannot be replicated (or even verified) calls into question all the research that used this data set. No replication = no science. I'm not sure the AGW advocates realize how damaging Jones's interview with the BBC actually was.

Right. But it doesn't damage the credibility of the thousands of dittoheads who parrot what Beck, Hannity, and Limbaugh tell them to say and what to think, all of whom don't actually have ANY credible science to back their counter claims? WTF?

What do you mean we don't have any science? It's not up to US to prove that MAN-MADE global warming exists. It's up to the people that are trying to say it DOES exist. You've got scientists who have altered and changed all of their data at the highest level to support their theory. What science do we need to prove it isn't true?

It's funny how for YEARS, we were creating "global warming", but now it's just "climate change". Funny how we cause global COOLING too! You follow them like little puppies trying to get out of the rain, but WE'RE the followers? I'd just like to hear how the dinosaurs caused the first ice ages, then suddenly warmed the earth again. Please justify to me how you think this is possible! :?

Dude, I'm just using common sense here. The earth has ALWAYS had warming and cooling periods. To think we're the reason of this is just fucking retarded! I still liked hanging with you and drinking a few beers, but I don't get your thought-process on this. :?

Well, I guess that's the point I'm prattling on about. Just because there isn't a consensus and an irrefutable hypothesis does not change the fact that there is a vast array of information and independently collected data that shows it's at least quite possible mankind has helped cause climate change. I think the right tends to sieze on the "science isn't settled" component and make that their battle cry, and the left tends to discount any possibility that other factors are likely contributive and probably dilute the "entirely" claim they make.

So, now you are saying that Clinton and Kerry are not only military "hawks" but twice that of Cheney?

Sorry, don't buy it. Bush and Cheney started the two current wars we are now in. Not only that, but they propagandized the entire debate surrounding them to the point to where if you were against those wars you were unpatriotic and being unAmerican. They are the very definition of chicken-hawks. Get over it.

There was no way to 'prove' Einstein's theory of relativity either...until decades later. That did not make it any less believable to science or that it could not be used to explain the universe. What is 'fucking retarded' is people who have no clue how the scientific method works say that they don't need to prove it isn't true and then in the next breath not have ANY convincing explanation for the observations made round the world that show that the Earth is getting warmer. All that has been done is to say it's some kinda cycle. But, according to THAT theory, the Earth should be getting COOLER - and it's not. So, if you want to come up with a better argument, then do so...otherwise, you're just full of 'hot' air.

Huckabee is also intelligent. I don't agree with everything he says...but at least he has his reasons for his beliefs and they don't simply involve hating the other side, like so many others on FOX.

Agreed. I met him at one of his fundraisers here a couple of years back - very kind man, very well-spoken. At the heart of most issues, I agree with him - we just completely disagree on how to get there.

Now, conversely - Hannity is a blithering idiot, Limbaugh is a feeble-brained master manipulator / disinfotainer, and Beck...well, he's incredibly stupid, and very scary to boot.

I would challenge any of the dittoheads on Fox to an intellectual ho-down against Olbermann or Franken - the latter two would bury them where they stood,
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

Seriously, dude? He's a stuttering, inept hatemonger. The only guy on Fox who's truly intelligent is O'Reilly.

Personally, I think George Will s fantastic, and if I were a Republican, I would read his editorials every day, because he knows his stuff, doesn't pander to the extremes, and is extremely eloquent.

Holy crap. I agree with you! :)

On everything, but Beck being inept and a hatemonger. He may be a lot of things, but I don't think he's enept...look at his career...and I don't think he's a hatemonger.

I've hear George Will speak twice. One smart SOB and unbelievably well spoken. Olbermann and Franken may make a good debate with the Fox guys, but Will would make them all look like bafoons.
