I had planned on going for Sat and Sun. My main reason for going in the first place (Andrew don't kill me) was to see WET...now with the cost of air which is 275.00, hotel and tickets, I am waiting to see if the air comes down...like Deb said it's a lot of money for those of us who are coming from a distance. Those who live in Chicago don't have the cost of air and needing to rent a car to get to the actual venue and back to the airport.

The point I was trying to make above is that.....I was not going to prove myself to anyone...I would be going for the music and to hang with some of the people here that I really think are great people who share the love of the music I grew up with.
I would not be attending due to the fact that my life here will have no peace if I don't go.....and I don't think that Dan actually would make good on that threat anyway...I think he actually has more class than that.

Anyway......I am not going to "deal" with the issues of who is who or what here.....it gets old fast.

I get the financial thing too, trust me. But a long time ago I realized if I don't do these things now, these bands won't be around and when I'm older and my 3 kids are grown, I'll have missed out on all the fun I've been having. But I don't know your situation, so I wouldn't judge. I haven't heard much about what's going on with the airlines lately. Maybe they will start going down as summer gets closer.

A couple of months ago I PM’d one of Dan’s allies & I let her know that I had some apprehension about going to MRFII b/c I had heard that he had plans for me once I’m there. Since Dan & I aren’t friends & since I would have no reason to believe it was just good hearted humor that he had planned to steal my hotel keys, slip something into my drink, pull my pants down in front of the MR ladies, mess with my car & punch me----, I was thinking it wasn’t worth it to take a chance at hoping that’s all a joke. I confided to Dan’s ally that I was concerned.

The cost to attend this event is well within my budget; however, once I considered the cost of the room, transportation, food, drinks, souvenirs & other essentials, I got to thinking that's an awful lot of money just to have a lump in my throat the entire weekend wondering when Dan’s gonna do what he’s gonna do. Like everyone else who’s going, I wanted to be able to relax & enjoy the music. There are 2 people from this site who I know are attending that I would really like to meet. And so, with me still wanting to attend at this point, I took a chance & PM’d one of Dan’s more level-headed & mature allies hoping she could say a few words to kind of put my mind at ease. This is what she told me: “Dan’s an asshole to everyone. Don’t let him bother you. Once you go & prove yourself to him, everything should be fine.”

As much as I may not agree with all the Blueskies bashing that takes place on this board, a part of me can understand somewhat why Dan & others do what they do to her. It’s b/c she is a very vocal & opinionated person & she comes on here & challenges some of these people. When they respond, she tends to turn up the heat & takes her rebuttal to a higher, more personal level which leaves them twisting in their seats. They feel they have to set her straight. That said, what I don’t understand is why Dan is so compelled to be venomous towards ME b/c I never mess with him. I’ve been told a lot of things. I’ve been told he’s jealous b/c people on here like me & that takes attention away from him. I’ve been told that it’s the typical “big guy versus little guy” routine where the big guy picks on the little guy for entertainment b/c the odds of winning are greater & b/c he’s no match for someone like, say, Deano. I’ve been told it has to do with a story relating back to his childhood which, if it’s true, sure would explain a lot of things.

In any event, when I PM’d Dan’s ally & she responded, I’m sure she thought that what she was saying would ease my mind, but to ME her words were wrong on so many levels. First, why is it acceptable for Dan to bully someone who does nothing to provoke him? Second, why should I hafta prove myself to Dan or anyone, for that matter? And third, her words “.... everything SHOULD BE fine” were not encouraging words to me.

Yesterday, Dan came right out & asked if I was going to MRFII. I gave him the answer he’s been expecting, & so now the ball is in his court. He can go on & do whatever he’s going to do.


(I left the name of the ally out b/c I don’t know if she would want me to mention her. If she wants to “out” herself, I have no problem with that. I wasn’t trying to be secretive, just respectful.)

Not always...I travel a few times a year for work.....and if you use Hotwire and the trip is close you usually get a better fare.
