I can't stand these pervs. Female, male, it makes no difference. They make the profession of teaching look bad, and we have enough bad press as it is. Not to mention we are not paid very much considering we have to deal with combatitive students, and emotional abuse from the students who's parents let them run their houshold. Teaching is getting harder and harder every year. I love teaching art, but it is stressful some days to teach. I teach at a school where poverty and bad parenting is very rampant.
me too.
but, I still manage to abuse my students daily. hehe. I ignore them when they act up. they HATE that. "miss, are u mad at me?" (after class) or, "I'm sorry, Miss".
Tuba boy ( 7th grade tuba player) gets in trouble friday. I asked him to sit in the hallway until he feels calmer. inch by inch he creeps back in and sits right behind me, motionless and speechless for the rest of the time. (we were having a play day in the gym).
I understand. You deal with it. And I have most of my students walking in line now. I have had to file a police report over a student that basicly threatened my whole class and myself. This student is quite capable of doing what they say. The student has a history of violent behavior.
I still love teaching, don't misunderstand me. But on the whole, I don't see younger generations being able to handle the teaching profession. Most will find it too demanding for the pay.
I am very good at classroom management, and I seldom have to send a student to the office. I try to make my own consequences for actions. The disciplinarian at our school says he seldom worries about me, because I have a good control of my class.
I have a student doing observations with me in the morning. She is trying to see if she wants to become a teacher. So far I cannot get her to have the courage to work with the students. She has to teach a lesson soon, but won't get to know them. I am going to have to push her into working with them or she won't be able to handle teaching them.
