Apologize
The original, by Timbaland:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePyRrb2-fzs

The cover version, by All Ends:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U87jvpm15gQ
(No explanation needed. Any song converted to hard rock or metal is an improvement.)

----

Larger Than Life
The original, by The Backstreet Boys:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uewJN__RykY

The cover, by Jaded Heart:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuTVWGESsCw
(Same reason, any song converted to hard rock or metal is an improvement.)

---

Edge of Seventeen
The original, by Stevie Nicks:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1b53KMS4RM

The cover version, by 3-Faced:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BAfcn4mIL8
(Perfect modern rock reendition.)

---

Call Me
The original, by Blondie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH3Q_CZy968

The cover, by In This Moment:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW2n79L5_lo
(I will admit that the music video is friggin' cheesy, but even Debbie Harry was shitting bricks when she heard this cover.)

---

Land of Confusion
Original by Genesis:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oepXF2B5NK4

The cover, by Disturbed:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6KXgjLqSTg
(And it takes a LOT for me to say that a cover version of a Genesis song is better than the original. Genesis was my first and still favorite band to listen to.)

Another worthy cover version of a Genesis song: Transatlantic's take on The Return of the Giant Hogweed:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svSVnvYhc5Q
(No offense to Peter Gabriel, but I can actually understand the lyrics now! )

I remember in the mid 50's Perry Como singing Unchained Melody on his TV show. I think I had the sheet music dated 1948 with his photo on it. Anyway, Bobby Hatfield - ( Righteous Brothers) will own it for longer than we live. Oh, that is unless Adam Lambert decides to sing it.

A couple that I really like the more edgy cover versions of..........

Mony Money ~ Billy Idol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLRAggWfuX8

Crazy ~ Talisman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieMVdbFHNYQ (I think this was probably the very first song/video I saw of JSS on youtube, and had to have the Talisman dvds, what a killer dvd set.....especially priceless now. :( )

I love Van Morrison, but also love these covers of his songs:

Colin James - Into The Mystic (in his live performances of this song he puts so much feeling into it)

Freddy Curci - Brown Eyed Girl (not to be found on YT, but can be seen on Freddy's site):

He is! (and a cutey and helluva nice guy  ) When he sang that last time I saw him here at an 'unplugged' show, I was mesmerized.

My favorite cover version goes to Sarah Brightman:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuwZsbNQaOg

And just for kicks, here's a link, where somebody copied and pasted both the Sarah Brightman & and Leaves' Eyes versions as one track...just to be different:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dk3Ei_yoI4c
VH - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB8WHA3WWz0

The Kinks - Where Have All The Good Times Gone

VH- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NiE1p0h7HM

The Kinks - Waterloo Sunset

Green Day covered it and did a good job
