After what happened to Brent Seabrook last night, I agree with this.
I can't believe Wisniewski got two lousy minutes for that.

Apparently further action is being considered now....?

Hit the youtube in that blog and watch the slow motion replay right around 1:10.
Wiz frickin' knocked him right into next week.

Sorry to be bearer of bad tidings, but that was a legal hit.....NEXT!

Explain why that was legal. Seabrook did not have the puck. Wisniewski plowed into him in retaliation for the hit on Perry.
He steamed in and went straight for him and leveled him.

Puck, or no puck...the HIT was legal. Did he receive a penalty? If he had the puck would you be complaining? Seems to me if he had the puck he still would have been jettisoned to next week....

Sorry S2M. I have said it before and always will, your intelligence really impresses me, and I am being serious, however, your hockey knowledge is a bit suspect. Kim is right, that wasn't close to being a "legal hit." Good God, the puck wasn't even in the picture. Hell, Wisniewski just forgot about the play and went after Seabrook. You could call it a few things, like interference, as the puck wasn't in the same time zone as the hit, or roughing, or elbowing. I am surprised no Hawks unloaded on him. Chicago is losing guys left and right, and along with losing their players, they are losing tons of games now. They are only up 5 points over Vancouver. Home ice means a lot come playoff time. The Hawks are incredibly talented but we will see just how deep they are. Their blue liners are thin, real thin right now.

I will say S2M is right on the money with Ovie though. That guy is a tremendous talent and fun to watch, but he is a dirty player and this only cost him 2 games. Somebody somewhere will line him up and he will pay for the shit he does. I have never seen so many knee on knees from any player in my life. Yeah, he plays the game hard and I love that, but he can leave out the dirty element out of it.

I'm telling you, I watched that happen and when they showed the replay in slow motion, my stomach turned over watching his eyes roll back and the way he just sank to the ice. That was brutal.

It's like they're starting to pick these guys off one by one because they are (finally!!) a team to really contend with.

Shows how little you know about the sport. Fights are few and far between now. Don't run your piehole on something you are clueless about. You couldn't tell me the difference between a red line and a blue line or an end line.

Now you're being myopic. Teams aren't picking off Hawks players because they are finally good, Kim.

Ovechkin would have hit that player (Brian Campbell) in that game if he was wearing a white Hawks sweater or and an orange Philly jersey.

Wisniewski is a shit player now, just as he was when he was in Chicago.

You can't whine about players being out. Vancouver just played 40 games without 3 of their 4 top D men, and they managed to win 70% of their games, including the longest road trip in NHL history, 14 games and 42days away from the Garage. My point is players get hurt, not normally how the Hawks guys have went down, but it happens. There is no excuse for losing to Philly with 2 seconds left after having a 2-0 lead after 2 periods. There is no excuse for losing a 3-0 lead against the Caps, giving up 4 unanswered. You better find some defensive help, or get a goaltender in there who can steal you a game. It's rough right now in Chi-town.

I was just musing in an "it figures" kind of way, like it figures, we finally have a team that's worth something and they're dropping like flies. That;'s why I said "it's like"

Baseball is about as far away from hockey is as Jason is from pussy.

Hockey is loaded with passion and fire, and must be played with extreme emotion. Baseball is a great sport and I love it, but it's a cerebral game. You need to really think ahead a lot and while it entails much talent, it's obviously played at a slow pace.

Hockey fights happen for a reason. The players police their own sport. Fighting keeps the dirty shit out of the game. If a player pulls a dirty play, he knows he will be paying for it sometime, and he knows he deserves it. Hockey players show great respect for each otrher, even if they are fighting. You won't see a guy hit another guy when he is down on the ice..it's strange, but I don't think they really want to "hurt" the opposing player. A fight doesn't "hurt" another player. A cheap shot in the back sending a guy into the boards defenseless is "hurting" another player. So you can't make these bland comments about the game not knowing anything at all about it. Baseball is a different animal, and sometimes they do it the cheap way. When a pitcher throws a heater at a guys dome, that is intent to injure. Most classy pitchers who dot a guy do so in the back, not the head. In baseball you see dugouts and bullpens empty out and it's really a farce. Look no further than that cocksucker Pedro Martinez chucking old man Don Zimmer into the dirt. That was a real classy move there. If baseball guys want to go mono e mono, I say great, awesome. Then do it, but don't crown a guy at 95mph, where it could end his career. Fight like men.

I am actually surprised at you stevew2. Every guy I know loves a good hockey scrap. You are the only guy I know, guy or gal, who doesn't like it.

Dude stop it already, you are making a fool of yourself. While that play is considered "dirty" I have my reservations. Campbell was off balance...it didn't take much to send him on his way. Ovechkin is a strong guy obviously. This isn't the NBA, where a guy gets his fingernail scratched and he is out a week. I am beginning to think you are just a fuckin antagonist, nothing more. If the NHL is a joke, why do you watch it? It is by far the hardest sport to referee, because it is by far the fastest game on Earth. Plays happen so fast, that it's tough for referee's to make the correct calls let alone be in the absolute proper position to raise the arm. Without looking, was the Ovie play a penalty? I can't remember. And if you are a hockey fan S2M, and I assume you are, then Ovie will get his payback in the terms of a nice boarding penalty dealt up by a 6'3" 230 lb defensemen. He'll get his.

Great post. I don't agree with the cheap shots that do seldomly happen, but I can't imagine hockey without a scuffle or two, like you said it is played with such passion and fire.

BTW, just noticed your sig too........

There's just no getting through to you anymore dude.

Besides, I have seen much better fights on the ice than I have in the ring. Just look back to last Saturday, and tell me that was a good fight. And no, just because Pineda sang the anthem doesn't make it a good fight either.

Antagonist? That's rich. Mike Milbury sat down with Colin Campbell, who related that Ovie got the 2 games due to the Repeat Offender rule. But you know what? Cooke is a FIVE time offender, it was intentional, and the hit to Savard was to the head. Has a grade 2 concussion. You ask me why I think the NHL is a joke? Wisz got 8 games for a hit that occured LESS than 24 hrs ago. It took the league a few days to determine Cooke's fate.

It would be cool if your own goalie started a fight with you when that happened.
