Coming from you...that is high praise indeed.

The country I love is FUCKED by this travesty of a law, and you and Deano are worried about a forum post?

As I have said, enjoy your little "victory", the reality won't even be upon us for 6-8 years...then lets see how you dance around.

I think it's pretty pathetic when anybody goes to that level. I said it to you about Dean when you first joined this forum, and I'll say it to you about that post. If the only way you can 'win' is by throwing a bunch of insults about, then you really have not won anything.

I'm not worried about anything...or enjoying any 'victory'. There should have never been a 'war' in the first place. Obama put himself in this position by allowing this issue to be fought out and politicized in congress and the conservative mouthpieces in the media. It's not a victory, at all. It's a lesson learned for whatever he chooses for his next 'battle'.

A number of years ago we were set to go to war in Iraq. One of my main arguments against it was that it was a war that we could not afford, at a time where we should be investing our money here at home to improve our economy, our nation and the people who live in it. The 'argument' I got back was that it was a war we could not afford to not fight.

I submit to you that THIS is investing in America, the American economy, and the American people. I find it repulsive, unAmerican, and unPatriotic that people would say this nation can not afford to invest in its own people. That is so backwards and seems so retarded that we are willing to build nations in the middle-east but are unwilling to build our own. How pathetic the conservative movement has become when it thinks this way, that other countries come before our own.

I actually agree with you here...but the nation building isn't the problem...it's a drop in the bucket next to this monstrosity.

Answer me this: Do you REALLY think that Congress is ACTUALLY going to cut $400 Billion from Medicare? Do you know how high they are going to have to raise the marginal tax rates to PAY for this??? Think 60-70% at the top. Do you know what that will do to GDP?

Woah, I didn't expect you to have some decent points, but you do. The problem is that you're basically saying that every person who "needs welfare" is in fact just lazy, and needs to work. That's ridiculous. One shouldn't be lenient with the ones who's lazy. But come on MG, your mindset just speaks for itself. It's egotistical.

The thing that'll cost you tax payers the most isn't a slightly higher tax, but the effects of the growing obesity epidemic. That'll slowly but surely cripple the health care system, as well as the job market. If the government had some balls, it would put some bad ass taxes on unhealthy crap food, and force its citizens to eat healthy. That'll solve a shit loads of problems right there, as well as prevent even more.

1.) You've got to be kidding me/yourself?!?!
2.) Absolutely, I should have clarified! Those that want to help themselves and try to help themselves are the very people I would
give my last dime to!!
3.) The food thing ...yeah, I can see you have a burr up your ass about our eating habits and I agree!!
4.) You have got to be kidding me ... :?

Parfait, you speak of our obesity problem. But you don't truly know the problems that lead to it. Our schools have starchy unhealthy meals. Why? Cost. Good food.......healthy food is more expensive. The poor can eat cheeper with bad food. Chicken, fish, vegetables........these are expensive. Junk food feeds hungry stomaches cheeper. When good food can become more affordable, then people will eat better.

Fast food joints increased the size of their portions, making people feel as if they need to eat it all. I was raised to "clean my plate". I don't teach my children that. I teach them to push away when they begin to feel full.

Our old system of the food pyramid taught high carbs, and did not stress vegetables and fruit. A great deal of Americans were raised to eat badly. Not to mention the south, where if it could be eaten it was fried. Soul food, comfort food, all the ways people ate when they were raised on a farm and worked physically from sunup to sundown, was passed on to children who got jobs behind a desk. These children still cook like mom and dad.

Not to mention that our lifestyles leave us little time to exercise. I know as a teacher I seldom get the oportunity to exercise. I am on my feet walking around my classroom all day. I sometimes work from 7:30 am to 6-9 pm doing grading and class prep. I get up at 4:30 am because I have to get ready and drive an hour and fifteen minutes to work. And on the nights I work till 6-9pm that does not include the long drive home. Then you are looking at 7:15-10:15 pm before I can even get home. Then I have responsibilites to clean house and feed my family.

Those aren't insults...that is the gospel truth about Dean...he could be more than what he is, he is one of the most intelligent people I know, but he won't use that gift for anything...and he chooses his lifestyle, and more power too him, that is what freedom is about however, I don't ask him to subsidize my life...but he is asking me to subsidize his and then has the shear GALL to come on here and crow about it? Please.

I certainly have my faults, I usually rather glaringly expose them here from time to time, but I work on making every day of my life BETTER than the day before. I am not perfect, but at LEAST I try. If Deano did that he could be President of the US inside a decade he is that smart and capable, but he just won't. All he cares about, other than Wyatt, Lula and his other kids is being Deano the Magnificient; Savior of all things MR.

Oh, blah, blah, blah. You can't even predict what will happen six months from now, let alone six years. ANYTHING that would have been passed would have caused doomsday predictions from Republicans and conservatives. That is just how it is.

I also find it ironic that conservatives are worried about the deficit NOW. When a conservative is in office, nobody worries. In fact, when Reagan was in office the talk was having a deficit was a GOOD thing...and not to cut his military spending. And, when papa-Bush had to go back on "no new taxes", he lost conservative support and was booted out of office. Then, of course, Clinton makes huge strides cuts back government...and he STILL gets attacked by conservatives. Then W comes along, has HUGE expansion to government and takes his wars off the books...and he is somehow a conservative.

It's all hypocrisy and meaningless political rhetoric. This was the right thing to do. The fact that a Democrat actually got it done is what pisses everybody off and why they want to say the world is going to end. Well, you know what, Chicken Little can run for President in the next cycle and see how he does.

And YET again...you still don't answer the questions.

I have stated many times the latest Bush was a wild spender and nuts for doing it. Reagans deficits were small in regards to GDP, so were Bush I's...Clinton did finally work on making government smaller, thanks to a GOP lead Congress...before they lost thier way.

At times you HAVE to run deficits...we all do it, the private sector and the government, but this thing is going to KILL GDP, no one is going to lend us money to pay for this, the expansion of our debt to GDP will cause the debt servicing to to eat such a huge portion of our budget that we won't have money to pay for anything else. Those are pie in the sky things, its simple math and observation on what is going on today.

But as I have said repeatedly you and others won't look forward. The time to look back is OVER. Yes the politicians screwed us time and time again, from BOTH sides. Both are too blame. That is the past, are you content to let them ruin us further? Looks that way.

And I don't care if Obama is a Democrat or if he is black, green, red...whatever...I don't care if he is a liberal or conservative...this law, as written, is going to kill us economically. And no fancy Enron-accounting by Congress can change that.

10% unemployment is going to seem like the good old days when this is all said and done.

Look- These politicians always pit rich vs .... Well, there is BIG business and then there are the small business employers( the majority of employers in this country) who will let workers go if they have more than 50. I hope my son is not one of them. All they needed to do was help those who could not afford Ins according to their income, allow Ins co's to compete by selling in all states and get the LAYWERS THE HELL OUT OF MEDICINE WHEN FRIVELIOUS ,require Ins Co's to cover Pre-existing & yes your premiums will go up like they are now. Now ,it is the fed gov't backed by the IRS to enforce.Who needs more IRS? It is to enforce penalties like seizing bank accounts etc. This bill taxes immediately, and doesn't take effect for 4-5 yrs. Medicare is just about bankrupt( 2017 funded), Medicaid is no longer accepted by many, and they want to shore up this health care bill with $$$ from Medicare. Doctors say they will retire early & there is already a small shortage. So how can 35,000 million more be seen in appointments. Soon we will join Canada and Europe. I feel sorry for you younger guys because this ponzy scheme ,house of cards is collapsing. The U S credit worldwide is losing AAA rating. We owe China trillions & they have been our credit card. When they pull it ,we are so over. The highlight is all the crappy politicians that started this in the last 20 yrs are either dead or out of office. This is unconstitional, and will be in state court for years. States are taking this to court,so get the popcorn out. It is not over, stay tuned for November !

ROFLMAO! Welome to the MelodicRock Forums...ever seen Deano's posts??? Hmmmmm....if you don't like the heat get out of the kitchen.

But when Dean does it, "it's just dean" that's just "his posting style" so it's acceptable.

2 things Nat.

1) I agree with you 100% about the frivolous lawsuits, and the absolute need for tort reform. Good arguments on your behalf. I am surprised that measure didn't make it into the bill.

2) My posting style is pretty over the top and semi ridiculous. However, if you go back and read my posts to "him," it wasn't at all mean spirited or evil. I have never been mean spirited or hateful to a guy who did a great deal for me during my son's funeral and a personal hard time in my life. Perhaps I should have used a smiley face or some other emoticon, IDK. It's his choice to post the way he did to me. I am a big boy and can handle it, but a friendship was absolutely just severed, and it was hurtful; not because of what he said, because I can be 100 times more "mean" but I feel I do it without the definitive, direct hate like was just thrown at me. Not too worry, because this thread is not about me, it's about the country. At least I now know where I stand with him, and that's that.

By the way Nat, I stand by comment that you are correct 95% of the time, and while I really don't quite understand your disdain for the bill, I respect your knowledge and takes on this. Moving on now with more talk about the bill...........

This isn't about truth hurting. This is about a brother hurting another. You know damn well that you're both great guys. But you also know that you're a hot head. You have very strong feelings about your opinions and that's one of the things I admire about you , cause you're a master debator ( yea haha , shut the fuck up all you fucking steves ).
But once youre calm and cool down, you'll realize that you went too far and you'll do the right thing to try to fix it.
You're better than this god damnit.

Bullshit, MG. I make valid points.

And a4p; it's like that in every country in the world. People are slowly killing them self all over the world, and it's becoming a huge problem. Some healthy food is more expensive true, but far from everything is. Supplements isn't necessary, except for concentrated cod liver oil, which everyone should take each day, but that's about it. Fast food isn't cheaper than healthy food; that's just not true. It's all about changing routines, for example; change normal hot dogs for turkey hot dogs, pasta and white rice with barley and whole grain rice etc. The problem is that the government (that includes France's) doesn't got enough balls to tax shit food, so that people would be forced to eat healthy. Sure, a lot would whine about the government taking away their right to choose, but who cares - it's that right to choose who fucked them up in the first place.

I'm sorry, but even a couple of extra dollars isn't more important than your own health! It's truly sad how many people are willing to ruin their life just cause they love cookies and burgers. I honestly don't get it.

Turkey hot dogs are not hot dogs. I say eat one real hot dog once a month and screw the turkey  It's about moderation, not changing food to different foods. People ate these foods for years and obesity wasn't a problem. It's the whole over indulgence of EVERYTHING these days that causes the issues. Not the junk food itself. Fast paced society not wanting to take the time to put the right things together for a meal. You REALLY have an obsession about this!!

No shit, Sherlock! If it was legal, though I'd doubt it'll ever be, I'd stack up on harpoons and shoot every washed up, piece of blubber and end their suffering right there. The fact of the matter is that eventually will all the obese people cripple the health care system, and ruin the job market.

And no, I don't agree about doing it in moderation. But true enough; It's not the food, it's the people eating it, but don't blame it on a fast paced society - that's no excuse! I wake up every morning at 07:00, eat a banana and goes for a morning run. Back at 08:00, where it's off to school until 17:00. Then I head to the gym, and chill with my girlfriend for an hour - and I usually sit up to 02:00 studying, and I go clubbing at least two times a week. Fast paced? Sure, but that's not an excuse.

Everyone can have their comfort food though. Mine is Patrón and Goose.

That's a fast paced life to you?? You have a lot to learn about life still so I'll give you a pass   It's having kids and 20 places to go in only 3 hours and everyone in the family on different schedules. You have no clue about fast paced yet. That's cute you think THAT is a fast paced life!! I miss those days

And that's great you chose a healthy way of eating and living. Doesn't sound like much living to me though. Food is a joy in life and your description sucks the joy right out of it. Not everyone who enjoys good food that may not be on your list of "healthy food" is a whale. It IS about moderation. It's typical for Scandinavians to prefer healthy boring food over tasty/unhealthy food. He's missing out on a lot of great tastes and flavors. Piss on him. ;)

Yeah 2 kids with sports schedules (so they don't get fat  ) 12 hour shifts, meals, laundry, yard work, classes for my masters degree...I have so much time on my hands!!

I still try to run three times a week. I try to make good choices for my calorie intake but Lynn you are right moderation is the key. There are still some people who have to work harder to keep it off and for some it is a constant battle....I know for me it is.

I don't need fast food and cakes to make me feel good, and you shouldn't either. Living isn't sitting on a dingy fastfood place and eat a tasty burger. It's buying a fresh salmon, a lemon, some olive oil and salt, and take your dads sailboat out on a island and enjoying simple food with friends/gf's etc - now that's good living.

Now, I don't have kids or whatever, and not planning to either, but I'm talking out of my own experience. Just because you got knocked up a couple of times doesn't make you anymore seasoned than me, every woman who have reached puberty can get a kid.

Food is fuel, that's it.

Edit: Post a pic of yourself, Portland. Sounds like you're beautiful.

First of all, I am not saying I am more "seasoned" than you   I am saying my life is faster paced because I don't only have MYSELF to worry about. I have 3 children and a husband too. And yes, I do care about them and I actually plan out and make great meals. But they aren't what YOU deemed as the only foods we should be eating. Your list of grains and bland yuck they are not. But they are healthy meals including veggies. It's about moderation and portion size. And EXCERSIZE!

And I don't eat fast food often at all. Not every american uses fast food as their daily dinner source as you seem to think they do. I don't eat cake and other foods I may enjoy ON OCCASSION to "make myself feel good". You are talking about a whole different thing here. Food addiction maybe? Trying to cover up emotional issues through eating? That is NOT me! If I enjoy a piece of cake, it's because I like the taste of the cake. Same for all the foods I enjoy too. I love trying all different foods from different cultures. It's a great thing. And I dont' have to weigh 350 lbs to do that either. You really have a skewed view of things.

And if you are judging by what you see in touristville here in florida, that is people on their "fast paced" vacations trying to see all the sites and theme parks and everything in a very short amount of time and fast food is all they have time for. It's not like Disney and other such places offer much more. And of all the restaurants in the pavilions at Epcot, Norway's sucks the most!! And by the way, I love baked salmon. I make it a few times a month actually, along with other types of fish too. I think I am a decent cook and I have a very well rounded diet including many different things. I just HATE smoked food. Yuck!!!

Look at the spoiled brat talking out of his ass again.

First of all, just cause your mom popped you out as soon as she hit puberty doesnt mean all the people around here had teenage moms.
Secondly, Food is more then FUEL , you moron. Cooking and serving GOOD food is an art. Something you will never understand cause of the scandinavian genes in you.... no doubt someone peed in that gene pool ;)

There are many people who eat very unhealthy and dont take care of themselves,,, more so in US than in Europe...... but there is also a great way to BALANCE things and ENJOY your meals, while you also live a healthy life. Not all people eat fast food like you think. Theres a lot more to great food than your
one-sided vistion. Fast food is generally not only nasty but not even great tasting,,,,, I have had salmon the norweigian way and it tastes like shit.
You can use some imagination and add some FLAVOR to the damn food and make it a flavor party in your mouth , rather than having a fucking bland fish, swimming in your mouth with the same flavor it has in a fucking bear's mouth.

Last but not least, you came here for a visit as a guest. Dont like what you see? Then I suggest using that return ticket and get the fuck back to the shit hole you came from, where guys piss in girls mouth and girls dont know what this is :

parfruitty is right about overeating and America is more fat than other countries. We live off more processed foods and fast foods, but, more importantly, larger portions. but where he loses me is that food is just fuel. I watched a show on the French. They are healthier (and thinner) than we are, but really enjoy food. They aren't on the run for lunch, and love great meals, heavy sauces are included on their food. It's just that they eat fresh, natural foods, not processed, and eat it in much smaller portions than Americans do on the whole, which is the key. But they definitely love and enjoy food and the social activity involving great food and wine, and look at Americans who eat in the car from a fast food window on the run at lunch as tacky.

It's not bad, P, to enjoy all kinds of food and to look at it as enjoyment, not just fuel. It's when the overeating comes into play or obsession with food or junk food that it's unhealthy. Like sph said, balance.

great post above, Behshad.

Listen up you ugly, Swedish little midget; now you've pissed me off. I keep it civil and you come in here, as you usually does, with some retarded conspiracy theories or some wannabe Deano post. You're not the self appointed king of this place; you're a keyboard jockey, who contribute nothing to this board at all.

First of all; don't talk shit about my mom. She's a respected neonatal surgeon, and she has provided more love, care and help in this world than you'll ever, ever do. Last time I did that to someone here, it became a national crisis and I recall you were one of the people who pointed out that talking shit about ones family is uncalled for. I could go that route too, but I won't. Man, seriously; you got no shame. Why did you have to ruin this topic? And how in the blue hell is that a good post? It's just a load of shit! You guys are a bunch of bigots.

My dad is French, and my mom is half Norwegian, half Italian - and I've been in France three months every year, and lived in France the first years of my lives and for the last two. Almost my entire family live in Cannes, though some live in La Réunion (Google it), Norway and Italy. I know what good food tastes like, and that's not fried, overly seasoned crap. It's supposed to be natural, fresh and tasty. I don't expect a retard like you Beshad, to understand that food isn't so important, as the company you eat with - after all, you're just a pot bellied uncultured nobody.

Now, are you seriously talking shit about my gene pool? Are you serious, man? I want you to go in the mirror and take a hard good look at yourself. You see that ugly, receding hairline? And your narrow, beady eyes? What about those ugly ass teeth you got? Not to mention the 20 pounds extra blubber you got strapped around your waist and face. Fucking hell, dude; you're ugly! You're a ugly, pudgy, big eared loser! It's time you realize what's reality and what's not. Look at me, and look at you, man. I'd gladly beat your fat, worthless ass into a bloody pulp, but the next best thing is to helping you realize who and what you really are.

Dude, I've done more, seen more and experienced more in my 19 years, than you have or ever will. Don't ever talk to me again on this board, man. Ever.
