Apparently someone knows they exist.

Someone does ...not a superbowl sized crowd and TV audience!! Did you see their crowd in the beer
garden ?!?! People weren't rushing them and being sqeezed out for sure!!

Deano is right, Pinheads are delusional!! If it happens it will be nice for their fans, though!!

Wow! Didn't see that one coming!

When has the half time show been about talent? Only the singer and guitarist are even allowed to play live.

Sorry Chubby, Journey is never getting close to that stage. They just aren't, despite what all the myopic retarded Pinoy's think and believe. Pineda is not a star, in fact he isn't even close. Not to bag on him, but you Pinheads out there are being laughed at by other music fans. Again, not a Pineda basher, because I like him, but dude hasn't written a single song yet. No doubt he can hit a note, but he is not in the league of the previous SB Halftime guests, not even close.

There is no harm in trying to lobby for Journey to perform at the superbowl. If it happens, well and good; if not, no big deal.

I beg to differ that Pineda is not a star. He may not be as big as others but he is definitely a star. Btw, did you hear the warm reception of the audience when he was introduced at the Pacquaio fight? Do you think somebody who is not well known will get that kind of reception?

On the song writing, be patient, it will happen soon. 8)

Of course he's not in the league of the previous SB halftime guests but vocals wise, he's better than others (WHO? ). Let them hold live auditions for Superbowl halftime, I'll bet you that Journey will be a hot contender.

Are you sure you have not signed the petition?

Ok, I have looked at this post three times and I just can't not respond to it.

It's one thing to love your favourite band, and your favourite band's lead singer as well, which in this case is Pineda, but at some point you need to check yourself for reality; you have to be fucking honest with yourself. NO ONE knows Pineda. Ask people who is the lead singer for Journey and the responses would look like this-

1- Steve Perry
2-Uh, the little guy they found on youtube...talks a little funny but he sounds pretty good
3- Journey is still around?

Maybe 2 out of a hundred would actually know Pineda's name. You people are doing nothing but making him look stupid, lofting him up in discussions with the previous Super Bowl greats is rather embarrassing. Tell me, who doesn't belong in this list:

Paul McCartney
Mick Jagger
Bruce Springsteen
Bono
Tom Petty
Arnel Pineda

That's a pretty easy list to see who is the odd man out. I bet if you asked the top 5 on this list who Pineda was, they wouldn't have a clue.

As for the Pacquio fight, Hell, half of the audience was Filipino, so they would definitely know who Pineda is. That doesn't measure his name recognition. Tell you what, When the Yankees play Boston on opening Day in the Bronx, and Pineda sings the national anthem, do you really think the 60,000 New Yorkers are going tro know one iota about him? Hell no they aren't.

On the song writing, be patient, it will happen soon. 8)

Not counting on anything.

Like Gunbot said, most of the bands aren't live anyway, so your argument is moot. As for Pineda sounding better than previous acts? Maybe a few. Tom Petty lipped and was pretty weak, as were the Who. No way could Pineda entertain like Bruce, Bono or Prince did. He simply is and will never be that good, ever. Those guys are at the top of music for a reason. And if I really wanted to be an ass, I could point to the beer garden show Journey put on 2 years ago, and he wouldn't have passed a trial test that day to be sure. He was awful. What if the NFL saw that? You think they would hire Journey and Pineda based on that show? Hell no they won't.

Are you sure you have not signed the petition?

Hell no I didn't, but I would definitely want to see Neal up there shredding with his curly locks flying around! That is just rock n roll sexy!

When you decide to let Jana/ Fredinator come up for air, how about clueing them into the news that Fellatio Reduces the risk of Breast Cancer? They won't only be servicing you for the benefit of Neal but will also be safeguarding their own health.

Loved that song ...One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

Really? First of all, you're underestimating the readership of this site. That alone is huge.

Then the many people who attended:
2008- 2009 concert in USA, example, five sold out shows in Hawaii, ,26K alone in Chicago
20K Chile Amphitheater and more than 25 millions on TV
2008-2009 Concert in Europe - to name a few, 35K Sweden Rock Fest, more than 65K Download Fest.

How about the millions of viewership of:

Oprah Shows,
The Early Show
CBS News Sunday
CNN

The readers of GQ, People's Magazine, Times Magazine, internet blogs, etc.

Pacquiao Fight - 50K inside stadium, millions on TV

And of course millions of youtube hits - like Open arms alone has 4 million hits

(BTW, do you know that many people could not even name the Vice Pres of the USA.)

Rockindeano wrote:No way could Pineda entertain like Bruce, Bono or Prince did. He simply is and will never be that good, ever. Those guys are at the top of music for a reason.

Yes way, through the magic songs like Separate Ways, Anyway You Want It and of course DSB which will be the loudest sing along in the history of Superbowl. When they hear that piano intro, that stadium will erupt. 8) You better believe it.

Btw, I am not comparing him to the greatness of those artist mentioned. I am just commenting on the entertainment aspect.

LOL, I won't count on hearing those songs at a Super Bowl game, because it wil never happen.

To your point about Pineda being a star already. Um, maybe it's me, but I have never seen a star emerge after one tour, who has never written a single song, let alone one heard on a radio.....the guy sings other people's songs :? How the Hell can he be a star? Maybe a good singer, yes, but dude is nowhere near being a star. Let me know when he graces the cover of Billboard, Time, Rolling Stone or any other magazine for that matter. The is great..a great karaoke singer.

Truthfully, fans like you, who suggest stupid shit like this, is an embarrassment to Pineda.

Bruce, Bono or Prince

Let's see, 65 million albums sold, 52 million and 40 million(all US figures)...Pineda, 0 sold, or ok, we'll give him 1 million sold. Yep, he can blow Bruce off the stage alright, and probably make quick work of Bono too.  :D Quit now while you can save some face Chubbs.

Or something that's debatable. Like I have said a thousand times, I like Pineda, great dude, great pipes, it's just the goddamned myopic fans who see him as number 1 in music, right out of the box...That just pisses me off, and also the fact that the Pinoy's never knew a fucking Journey song prior to Revelation, are you listening Chubby?  Seriously, do something of significance, write some songs, make it big, on your own body of work, stop singing Perry tunes to get there, and show me something!

You know damned well Steve, Pineda is not even mentioned in the same breath as Springsteen, Bono or Prince...and I haven't even brought up Mick and Paul yet. Just keep things in perspective is all I am saying. No one is saying that Tim Teebow will be the best player in the NFL next year, even if he does well. Argh!

I'm not arguing with you Dean. I understand exactly where you are coming from. Difference is, I have faith that Pineda will do something great along the way. From what he's come from, I think he's done a good job. Now, starting with this next album is the time to show us what he's got. :D

I never said he can blow Bruce or Bono. You said, "no way could Pineda entertain like Bruce, Bono or Prince", but there could be a way. The three Journey songs I mentioned are still very popular to this day and can work like magic especially with elaborate production they do at the Superbowl. Now, will this happen? Maybe not, but never say never. I am just saying that in the entertainment world nothing is impossible.

Journey performed and tamed more than 65K metal fan and got rave reviews, how hard it will be to entertain football fans?

Everyone starts from scratch, Arnel being a cover singer is nothing to be ashamed of. If there's nothing special about Arnel, he won't be where he is now. Him, being maligned and insulted all the time I think is giving him good luck.

Laugh at me all you want, you call me an embarrassment, I don't care. To reach greatness, an artist should have devoted and passionate fans, remember that.

Wronggggg. Journey was very popular in the Philippines. You can get a glimpse of what's popular back then by merely looking at Arnel's covers. People expect cover bands to play only the most popular songs and with that, may I remind you that he covered Separate Ways, DSB, Faithfully and Open Arms.Pretty cool huh. 8)

Journey doesn't have a shot at the halftime show, with a fairly new replacement singer (only 2 years), even with all the hype of DSB (thus the Journey name) these days. If they came out with a huge hit from this new CD and it was well known to everybody, and if DSB still was a big deal for the rest of this year, I could see a chance MAYBE, and that's a big maybe. But I doubt DSB will keep the momentum and there's practically no chance in hell they will have a huge hit. So I still chant Ma-donna, Ma-donna, Ma-donna.   She had a huge tour last year. And her latest hit, 4 Minutes, featuring Timberland and Justin Timberlake as guests would be amazing live and deliver great energy.

Here's where Justin showed up at one show on her tour and performed it with her - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ym4w_ShRI8I

Chubbs, I am not getting personal and mean, but you didn't even know about Just the Same Way when you got on this board! Every Journey fan knows the old Classic lineup hits, from Infinity through Captured.

Oh, and if you are talking popular songs, dear. Springsteen has twice as many hits as Journey, and I can list them if I want. This isn't a pissing contest, but Bruce has these hits and he doesn't really aspire to be a hit machine.

I grew up in the Philippines and I came here in the early 90's. I admit that I don't know all the Journey songs but I am aware of some of the dirty dozen because they were on regular rotation. That song was not even in the list of the most popular songs by Journey in the Phil back then. Btw, SP's Foolish Heart was very popular.

Btw, I found this article, I don't know if this is a good or bad news...

http://content.usatoday.com/communities ... alftime-/1

Speculation started about the 2011 Super Bowl halftime entertainment the minute the 2010 Super Bowl ended last month.

But yesterday, Fox Sports Chief Executive David Hill was quoted in our Game On blog as saying he's sure the 2011 show won't feature an aging rocker.

"Oh, please, God, yes," Hill told the L.A. Times. "If I saw (Who guitarist) Pete Townshend's belly again I was going to throw up. In his younger days it might have been rippling muscle, but now it's like mine -- rippling fat. From the conversations I've had with the NFL, we won't need oxygen."
