They are looking lethargic and sluggish. They didn't show up to play tonight! They better pick it up soon. My cousin goes to UK, so I'd like to see UK pull it out so he can get more fucked up tonight

WVU is also doing its best Orlando Magic impersonation... ridiculous 3s.

I've enjoyed the games tonight and always enjoy the tourney to varying degrees. But honestly, game to game, college ball doesn't do as much for me any more as it used to. The talent level is so depleted and some of the rules are awful (eg 30 second shot clock).

Hope my cousins don't get arrested tonight... they're at UK partying and they get extremely belligerent when they're drunk. My one cousin's headed to Special Forces after he graduates and likes to pick fights with random dudes at bars... lol. I better call those fuckers.

I would...you know how UK fans can be! I would imagine there will be a fair amount of mayhem before the sun rises tomorrow.

Seriously, I'm not surprised at all that they lost---and I wouldn't have been surprised at all if they won the whole thing. Quite interesting though that the downfall of the last 2 Calipari teams was free-throw shooting. Two teams with better free-throw shooting and he would have had two national titles (well, one official and one unofficial) instead of no titles.

That was also just downright fuckin bizarre... what was WVU, 0/16 from 2 pt range before finally making a layup? What'd they hit, 8,9,10 3 pointers before scoring a 2 point field goal? lol. Then UK goes 2-25 or whatever it was from 3 point range. What a mess. I think the youth factor played a huge psychological role in the end, especially at the line. I don't know what UKs free throw shooting was like throughout the season, as I don't follow college ball that closely during the season, but it had to be better than that?

Kentucky losing gives me a good shot at winning since everyone ahead of me picked either Kansas or Kentucky to win it all. Now I just have to hope Duke wins and I'll probably be bringing home the big eagle.

3 brackets? Be a man and just use one.

My final four was: OSU, KSU (both of whom screwed me), WVA, and DUKE.

I had KSU and DUKE In final. With DUKE winning.

How far Duke goes is very dependent on how well Scheyer can shoot 3pt shots. If he starts hitting again, they have a good chance. If he's struggling, they won't make it.

Resident DUKE fan chiming in....conventional wisdom would say you are right. However, he shot horrible yesterday and they won going away. The key to tomorrow's game against Baylor is turnovers, and Zoubek and Thomas staying out of early foul trouble....Scheyer will be just fine.....

Zoubek is THE difference between this year's team and the last couple of years. He's given Duke the one thing they have been missing--a big man who can get rebounds. He doesn't even have to score all that much, but increasing the number of possessions increases the percentage that Duke will get a bucket on any trip to the basket.

Scheyer shot horrible in the first half...then hit a few in the second half. Duke has several people that can get hot on any given night, but they need Scheyer to be hitting shots for the defense to give the guys around the basket room to operate--ie keep the defense honest. Sooner or later, Duke will face a team that refuses to give up, and they will need everybody to be firing to win. Zoubek and Thomas need to stay out of foul trouble, but Duke need points more than anything. Scheyer has been consistent at that (minus the last game or two--but he looked better in the 2nd half). You can't count on someone else being able to consistently compensate for him.

Scheyer is really a marginal shooter if you look at his overall game. Sure, he puts up 18+ a game but his shooting percentage is actually UNDER the basketball version of the mendoza line, or under 40%. Fortunately, he gets to the line and is a dead-eye from there or he wouldn't be worth his salt. I actually think both Singler and Smith are more of a threat on a regular basis.

It was bizarre indeed! The Free throw shooting was never great for the Cats, but it was a HELLUVA better than they shot tonight. I think you pegged it- Age and inexperience finally caught up with them. ANd honestly (insofar as the fans attitude is concerned_) folks are dissapointed, but I think everyone is just happy to be back in the mix again after such as lousy run under Gillespie.

The issue is that when your method of operation is recruiting one-and-done players like Calipari does, that age and inexperience is something you never really get fixed. If I'm not mistaken, I think that was one of the Memphis fans complaints about him. You can overcome a LOT with pure talent, but the NCAA tournament is based on team chemistry, maturity, experience and coaching. Relying on a freshman-led team in the NCAA tournament is always a dicey proposition.

Under Calipari, UK will always field a talented team, but very rarely will they have much senior leadership.

I'm not totally convinced that Gillispie was all of the problem. Talent, injuries and team chemistry in the 2nd year (similar to UNC this year) played a large part. He self-destructed under the UK pressure, but as a pure tactical and recruiting person, he has the potential to be very successful somewhere else given the time if he keeps his personal demons under control.

DUKE reminds me of the Yankees... GREAT teams always... and you either have the passion to love them or hate em...
and if your dick vitale...DUKE will always be HIS team... he has a real homer issue with DUKE. almost lusting after them.
and nothing else matters... GOD HELP US IF ESPN gets the TV rights for the NCAA tournement in the next two years or so...

They haven't been the most talented team In the field of 64, but they are ALWAYS the most prepared, and Krzyzewski is the master of halftime adjustments.....
