Stupid story to tell/need some advice

Postby artist4perry » Sun Mar 28, 2010 3:56 pm

O.K. This is a bit of a stupid story to tell, but I found it funny. I was drawing at the Barns and Nobles Starbucks today. I had the usual passers by, saying nice things from time to time about my artwork. I overheard this guy say the funniest compliment I have ever recieved. He said: (AND I QUOTE)

That is some Pimpin Bad A*&&%#$ SH*t

He kept saying it over and over. I was a bit suprised, and tickled.............I mean what do you say? So I just said....Thank you. He seemed to be a nice fellow, and I had others say equally nice things today, but I had to stifle an urge to bust out laughing at that one.

Sorry, I know a bit dry, but I found it funny. Hey, it is not every day an artist is told their art is some Pimpin BAD A#$ SH$t

Sorry, this is an older photo of the drawing when it was about half done. It is finished and I will update a photo later.

On a sadder note:

I also have been invited to sing for the pop music group reunion this year for my old high school. It will be to benifit my teacher who used to be in charge of our pop music group Horizon. She was so sweet. She has cancer. Please keep her in your thoughts. She was a great lady, and taught me a great deal. :D

Hmm, that would explain the surrealism of her works ;)
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

An update on the concert for my teacher. I will be singing a solo of Cyndy Lauper's True Colors. I am going to dress up like her. The whole group will be dressed in 80's garb.

There will be two songs we will sing as a group. We Are the World, and Life in a Northern Town.

I can imitate Cyndy pretty well, I have to change my singing style a bit........LOL! But being an artist, and seeing the trials my teacher is going through with her cancer, I think the song is perfect.

A little history over our high school band Horizon's. I was in the first group, and new groups were selected every year. I had to audition to be a part of it. I had a great deal of fun, and we did pop music of the time. My teacher was kind and she did a great deal to help me love music. I was also in a choir at the time. I am worried about her health.
This is a reunion of all past group members from 1981 till now. I graduated in 81.
A couple of years ago I was in the first charity event for her. This is the fourth annual. The procedes are going for scholarships in the name of a young man who died a few years ago.

I am a bit nervous about this, I have not been on stage for 3 years, and that was with a large group! Any advice from our musican friends or just support would be nice. Guys I really want to do a great job. This song is so perfect for the situation. The concert is April 17. We will have all day that day to practice together.

You have a pretty voice, you'll do fine! You can't be shy dressed like that, so have fun with it and kick @ss. Somebody's got to record this. :)

A lot of colors in the drop down menu here... http://www.funfx.com/coloredhairspray-manycolors.aspx

Don't forget to pull your hair back on one side and wear earrings down to your shoulders on that side. If you didn't live so far away I'd come help you get ready.

I would let you! LOL! Your too kind. :D I really appreciate any advice. I want to do a great job. You guys would love to have a teacher like her. She loves 80's music, so that is why they chose this theme. I will only get to rehearse with the band for about 30 minutes.
