Sean Penn, the douchebag

Postby 7 Wishes » Tue Mar 30, 2010 4:41 pm

He's a brilliant actor and director, but he is a real yahoo. He's so far off the radar it's not even funny.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

She disappeared off the radar after the early 90's, but she was in many of the great cheesy 80's early 90's violent movies I enjoyed in my youth (Running Man, Predator 2), she looks much different now. Her name is also fun to say fast for a non-native spanish speaker (makes me sound like a News host turning over the broadcast to the spanish co-host)...

Agree with you though, Sean Penn, a little too far to the left.

I guess the Alonso family REALLY has it in for ol' Hugo..

http://www.chavezcode.com/2009/09/exclu ... ainst.html

In 2004, approximately 100 Colombian paramilitary forces were detained in a farm outside of Caracas belonging to an opposition leader, Robert Alonso, who has often called for the violent overthrow of the Chávez administration. The Colombians were detained and accused of a plot to assassinate the President. They were found with military uniforms, weapons and sufficient ammunition to cause serious damage in the country. Robert Alonso, a Cuban-Venezuelan and brother of the famous actress Maria Conchita Alonso, fled in exile to Miami, where he has remained ever since, continuing to plot violently against President Chávez.

I think he is typical of a lot of blowhards in Hollywood - their hearts might be in the right place, but unfortunately many don't do the research on what they are supporting and because they are famous, people listen. The worst are those who jump on the bandwagon and spout off (currently) about global warming and carbon footprints, but they own several houses (which require energy resources), travel (carbon emissions), have more consumer goods than they could possibly need, etc., and then use their money to buy carbon credits to be politically correct but maintain an excessive lifestyle. If they walk the walk, then I can respect that, but few do. I appreciate the celebrities who were trying to effect change before it was "cool".

My impression of Sean Penn after his behaviour a couple of years ago at the Toronto Film Festival is that he is, in fact, an arrogant jerk.

agree with everything you said about him. But, wow, he's an amazing actor, and I always get over it when I see him in his next brilliant performance. He's fearless in his roles. Inbetween roles he's irritating. What did he do at the film festival?

I agree that Sean Penn is definitely a brilliant actor, director, filmaker, yada yada yada. Can't take that away from him. He's also a self-important idiot who has never met a dictator he didn't like. Saddam Hussein, Hugo Chavez, Raul Castro (he flew there hoping to interview Fidel, but I don't think it happened). If the dude hates the U.S. this much, he ought to go live in one of those countries WITHOUT his fortune to pay his way and see how he likes it.

I agree.

I also would LOVE to see these liberal blowhards' tax returns and accounting records. Wanna bet they are taking full advantage of every tax loophole and shelter, in spite of all their verbal diarrhea about their "causes" and "helping"?

It was back in 2006 and despite everyone being told about the new law prohibiting indoor smoking in a public place (or perhaps because of it), he decided he was so important that he lit a cigarette right there during the press conference and wouldn't put it out. It was a minor incident, but to me it demonstrated an unbelievable degree of conceit and a bad attitude on his part.

I agree that he is a brilliant actor though - it's a good thing I don't have to like an actor to appreciate their performances or I would miss out on a lot of great movies!

I can't stand him so much of the time, and then out comes a new movie. And at first I say I'm not interested b/c I can't stand him personally. Then I hear it's a great movie and I cave and go, and he always blows me away with his performance. He disappears into his roles.

Agreed. Always thought he was an arrogant SOB. White Kanye West? Although I thought he was amazing in Mystic River.

As far as brilliant actors go, I'll take Johnny Depp over Sean Penn any day............class and coolness, on or off the set.

Not to mention Michelle Obama. How on Earth did she get away with saying "For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country"? That is a direct quote from a video of her speech and it's amazing how many supporters jumped to justify it with what she "really" meant. There is no way to twist that - she was not proud of her country in her adult life until 2008 when her husband was a candidate for the presidency.

Depp lives in France half the time, for the anonymity and the simpler life style (according to him).
Of course he has said somethings which may be construed as anti-American also, which has endeared him to his European neighbors.

"America is dumb, is something like a dumb puppy that has big teeth — that can bite and hurt you, aggressive."

In regards to his children, he would like them.. "to see America as a toy, a broken toy. Investigate it a little, check it out, get this feeling and then get out."
