Sources: McNabb may be Raider

Postby AlteredDNA » Wed Mar 31, 2010 1:31 am

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5038866

The Oakland Raiders have emerged as the leading candidate to land quarterback Donovan McNabb in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, league sources tell ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The sources say all the ingredients for a trade are in place. Of all the teams the Eagles have spoken with, the Raiders have been the most willing to meet the Eagles' asking price. Last week, The Associated Press reported that the Eagles want a pick in the top 42 of the 2010 draft for McNabb. Oakland has a second-round pick that is the 39th overall selection.

Also, the sources say McNabb's contract, which has one year and $11.2 million left on it, has scared off other teams. But, the sources say, Oakland is not concerned that McNabb is due a $6.2 million roster bonus on May 5 nor that the quarterback is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2010 season.

There also are connections between the Raiders and McNabb. Raiders owner Al Davis and McNabb each went to Syracuse, and Oakland's new offensive coordinator, Hue Jackson, is a distant cousin of McNabb's.

Should Oakland trade for McNabb, it would be the most stark admission by the Raiders that former No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell has not been the player the team had hoped. Oakland selected Russell with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 draft and awarded him a six-year, $68 million contract that included $31.5 million in guaranteed money.

One source familiar with trade discussions said no deal was done with Oakland. But other league sources predicted it soon would be done in a trade that would be the NFL's biggest offseason move.

And although McNabb has informed coach Andy Reid that he wants to stay with the Eagles and, if he has to be traded, would prefer to go to a winning team such as the Minnesota Vikings, the sources say the Eagles will do what they believe is best for team even if it means trading McNabb to the Raiders, a team with a recent history of losing.

McNabb and four others, including cornerbacks Asante Samuel and Sheldon Brown and punter Sav Rocca were no-shows at the Eagles' non-mandatory workouts on Monday, ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports

More proof that these thugs are remorseless and just don't get it

Earlier today, we pointed out that Steelers receiver Santonio Holmes has been trading jabs with fans via Twitter, in the wake of Monday's news that he has been sued for assault and battery.

We noticed, for example, that Holmes reminded one fan that the fans don't cut Holmes' checks.

We hadn't noticed a far less charitable exchange with another fan. Holmes accuses the fan of trying to make Holmes look like the bad guy, and then says that the fan "shud try finding the worst thing that you could drink n kill urself."

Nice.

So while Holmes looks to be in the clear from the perspective of the Orlando Police Department, he's still going to have some explaining to do to the folks who actually cut his checks.

Looks like stupid is contagious and has crossed the short distance from Shitsburgh to C-Town: SHawn Rogers arrested for gun possession at the airport - couldn't this moron wait until we traded him?

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... ossession/

The folks at WOIO in Cleveland report that Browns defensive tackle Shaun Rogers has been arrested for possession of a gun.

Per the report, the incident occurred at Hopkins International Airport, as Rogers was preparing to board a plane. The weapon was discovered in a bag; Rogers claimed that he forgot it was there.

We realize there's a chance that this is an April Fool's Day gag. But we assume that the folks at WOIO understand that the laws of libel and slander don't disappear on the first day of the fourth month.

That's why the safest April Fool's gags focus on concept like trades or retirements, not arrests or "outings."

UPDATE: Donna J. Miller of the Cleveland Plain Dealer confirms the report. The Plain Dealer adds that the gun was loaded. Thus, if it's an April Fool's Day gag, it's gone multimedia.

The shitstains just can't be outdone, they felt left out. A loaded gun.. on his carry on, onto the plane itself. Did this degenerate think it was going to pass through the security system? What the hell is going through human beings minds anymore.

In the Santonio case it's now being said that it was another women who threw the glass in this chicks face, who was 21. After the incident, Holmes agreed to talk with her one on one outside and the police officer covering the scene said that the chick was seen laughing and rubbing Holmes's face as they walked off.

This shit is ridiculous, all around.

the redskins have changed their approach since getting a new GM and Shannahan as coach.they haven't broke the bank like years past.they still don't have a good offensive line plus they went and got two old running backs parker and johnson.i think its going to take shanny a couple years to rebuild the horrible mess in washington.

been wondering if mcnabb will stay in philly or get traded.heard he wasn't too fond of being shipped to oakland.many are wondering if kolb can lead philly when mcnabb does eventually leave.

Now they have traded for McNabb. Not sure this is a great move for the Redskins... McNabb probably has a good season or three left in him, but not with a depleted O-line and running game like the Skins. Huge news, whatever the case may be.

Look for the Redskins to raid DC United's roster to load up on guys capable of catching balls with their feet.

well we know the skins could use help at receiver.donovan and owens are supposedly friends now so i could see the skins perhaps bringing terrell in if they needed help.after seeing this trade i don't doubt anything.i do think the skins will draft an offensive lineman in the first or maybe bradford if he falls to the fourth pick.

Are you on Meth, Rick? McNabb sucks. Kolb is the real deal. I would like to go to the WAS @ PHL game though. They will be on that poor interception throwin' motherfucker like thousand island on a Big Mac.

McNabb kept that team afloat many times during the coarse of his career in Philly. There's just something about McNabb that I like as an overall quarterback and still think he's a franchise QB wherever he goes. He led the Iggles to 5 straight NFC Champ games and went to a Superbowl. I think he can still manage. How can Kolb be the real deal when in reality, the dude started all but what? 3 games? Kolb is nothing but an unknown optimism player in Philly right now. Washington is getting that quarterback that has been on huge pedestals and is only 2 years removed from an NFC Championship stage.

They also have Portis, Johnson, and Willie Parker in the backfield. Sad to see Willie go from Pitt. His time was up, but he did some great things here in Pittsburgh that's overshadowed for whatever reason. Willie can still go and should get some reps atleast ahead of Larry Johnson in the Redskins run attack.

they are reporting that the redskins are trying to get rid of albert already in washington.i don't think shanny is to thrilled with haynesworth at all.for the right price i'd love to see albert back in tennessee although it probably won't happen.albert fit best in the titans scheme.he didn't fit in at all in washington but he got what he wanted which is a boatload of cash.i think already that he has made 31 million.

This chick has major inconsistencies in her story, all that lacked evidence and it's being said her blood alcohol level was 2 times over the legal adult limit, and she was under 21 years old. This bitch should be tried for extortion and being underage and beyond shitfaced to begin with in ANY nightclub, let alone being in the position to be in a V.I.P room with grown men. Witness's had nothing but nice things to say about Ben's actions that night and wasn't aware of ANY crime until they heard it that next morning. This case was dead from the start, this chick has no CLUE who cumed on her face.

I still say Ben should get at least 2 games suspension for doing his best impersonation of a mentality challenged person.

Santonio is going to be cleared as well and got viable evidence that he did NOT throw a glass in a women's face, but it was a 3rd party male who did. The girl was sitting in Holmes's seat and asked her to leave. She became irate, point in his face and grabbed his arm when a 3rd party threw the beverage at her but not the glass.

While outside, this girl's friends went back in the nightclub to identify the man. They brought him outside but the chick told police that WASN'T him and went in to point out Holmes instead. The same man who the friends first pointed out confessed to throwing the beverage in her face. This girl also has a criminal background of tres-passing and shop-lifting. Nice. These stars attract low life homewreckers.

I was just fuckin' around callin him a retard. I guess it's going to be all up to Roger Goodell, who still could slap Ben on the hands but I doubt he'll be suspended. I bet he goes to a fuckin psychiatrist for a little while or something, I wouldn't put anything past the NFL when it comes to these cases that involves the face of the NFL.

What a waste. That stadium was originally supposed to be enclose, but there was a flaw in the design, and the structure couldn't support any more roof surface. The public wouldn't approve any more money for it, so it became what it was, with a hole in the roof.

Steelers trade Holmes to Jets for fifth round pick. Seems pretty meager for a player of his caliber. I'm guessing his contract has one year left on it or something? They're definitely making him the fall guy. Big Dumbass Ben has caused a few more headaches than Holmes in his career so far...

The Jets could be quite a force in the AFC if Sanchez can clean up his turnovers. Shoulda never gotten LT.

Something NEEDED to be done, PERIOD.

It needed to happen. Get the garbage OUT of Pittsburgh. Since 2006, Holmes has had a brush with the law 3 times. That's 3/4 years. Facing a 4 game suspension RIGHT after Ben. Now being accused of throwing a glass in the face of a women IN his last year of contract of an uncapped season, it was time for Holmes to get outta town. He is now the Jets problem and they might be without him for a whole month to start the '10 season. He was becoming a GREAT player, but I applaud the Rooney's for taking a stance. Thanks for that catch in Super Bowl XLIII, appreciated it!
