The dominance of that UConn women's team just set women's basketball back even farther than it already was. It's embarrassing that there is that little parity in the game.

UNC should be grateful for that gift they got in the final seconds of the NIT semifinals against URI, and call it fuckin day..

RI also got lucky that they didn't call the foul on the 3pt shot at the end of regulation that would have won it for UNC then without going to overtime. If you watch the replays, the UNC guy was fouled on the 3pt shot with about 1 second left.

I was always taught that the HAND was part of (extension) the ball...judgment call, at best on that play.

see comment below....

StocktontoMalone wrote:In a related story...NJ has supposedly offered Krzyzewski 46 million bananas to coach.....in the past Coach K has turned down offers from Portland, Boston, and most recently....L.A.

He has a LIFETIME contract at DUKE...he won't take it.

Tonight he will pass Robert Montgomery Knight for 3rd place behind Rupp and Wizard of Westwood....he'll pass Rupp within 5 years.....no one's touching Wooden....

GO DUKE!!!!!!!

I don't think he'll take it either. I'm sure he would be successful in the NBA as good as he is preparing for games (which is the major difference betw college and the pros, IMO...as talent can compensate for a lot at the college level). Unless he has something to prove to himself, he has nothing to gain by leaving Duke at this stage. Some people may not like him, and some of his players are certainly easy to hate (ie Laettner), but he graduates players and wins. It's hard to ask more than that from a college coach.

I'm more of a UNC fan than a Duke one (hard to escape it when you live between the two and have ties to both), but I think Duke will win tonight unless they have a monumental collapse, cold shooting night or major injury.

StocktontoMalone wrote:However, tripping another player, no matter how inadvertent, is a foul no matter what....

No disagreement there. Watching the replays, it's obvious the reason was the RI player who fell into/pushed Graves who then collided with the ball-person. For better or worse, things aren't called in the last few seconds the way they are for the rest of the game. I think it should have been called...but it is what it is.

My biggest beef with hockey as well.

If something is a foul at 7:31 of the 1st half, its a foul at :46 of the 2nd.....is college basketball 3rd period hockey now?!

I'm with ya dude. Hate Duke. They feel they are entitled to this championship every year. I love it when Coach K starts balling when he loses, and calls them :kids" like they lost a parent or something. Hey dickhead, there's 200 other teams out there as well who didn't win it as well. Go get a napkin you fuckin fairy.

You surer about this? Butler hasn't won 25 games in a row on luck.

At least you didn't say Coach Crybaby was as good as Coach Wooden. The best coach ever in any sport.

Oh and while I'm at it, I hope to Hell Stanford takes down that gum chewing asshole Geno Auriemma and his stable of horse looking bitches the UCONN 'women." Go PAC10.

DRAKE got screwed in 1969 final four against the Bruins... ;-) DRAKE still talks about it today Thats how Butler feels tonight I bet...
they will get screwed somewhere in the game...

agree... UCONN is just phenominal... its like all the other teams get scared to even go on the court with them... When Iowa STate played them... it was like all the spirit went away from that Iowa State team... but UCONN still havent reached 88 in a row that the UCLA team run had... DAMN those Bruin teams were GREAT.

The point spread for tonight's game from various casinos. The first number is the amount of points Duke is favored by and the second is the over/under (combined point total).

Bird rights, my friend. Cavs can give him the max, $30 million more than any other team. It IS all about the money for sure, forget what these guys saying about wanting to win. The fact is, he can win NOW and make the most money with us. He already renewed his Nike deal and it's been confirmed that there's no LA/NY/NJ bonus clause in it. He's already a world commodity in Cleveland. He's not getting bigger elsewhere.

He's also an astute student of the history of the game. He knows that the true greats had a legacy with one team. Tack on the fact that it's his hometown, and it's a pretty tough case to make that he's leaving. When he wants to party in NY or LA, it's a mere private jet flight away. He wins and makes the most cash here.

Like I said, if he leaves, I'll be glad to record and post a video doing something incredibly embarrassing for all to see.

Was watching 24, so I missed most of the first half aside from watching on commercial breaks... and damn if these Butler kids aren't hanging around! I thought they'd totally wilt in the face of pressure... no dice. They aren't afraid of anybody or anything. This game is theirs to lose at the half!

Butler is right there. There are on the boards and competing. The fact that they are beating Duke on the glass is the difference, along with some bench scoring in the form of timely three's.

I wonder if S2M is gripping. He can't be too confident. Fuck him anyway and fuck Coach K and his fake tears.

A few things I've learned from the first half:

Lance Thomas sucks
Over the back isn't a foul anymore...
Refs ain't calling shit
Zoubek is slow as shit

When you complain about calls or non calls, you lose ALL credibility. It's always the refs fault. Come on man, you can't be serious. I can only imagine being a teammate of yours..Bitch bitch bitch complain. I would throw your ass off the fucking team faster than Shaq mowing a double Whopper.

Geez, no kidding. I'm having a hard time you even enjoy watching sports with your incessant bitching about the refs. It can't be fun if you really see things that way every fucking game in every sport.

What happened to the "Duke wins in a blowout, bank on it" bullshit Einstein?

Dan, I hope you took the points brother.

Fuck you S2M.

And don't start your bad call bullshit, especially when Butler got robbed on a bogus charge with 11:45 to go? Yet I'm not complaining.

I don't gamble.

And Howard fouled out about 5x in the last 3 minutes...not to mention that bodyslam he gave (singler?) to allow Heywood to even be able to get that prayer off....

I am impressed as hell with Brad Stevens... they're gonna have to tear his contract up and give him tons of $ quick if they want to keep him at Butler. It'd be cool to see him stay there at a mid-major for once, but it probably won't happen. The guy probably still gets carded at bars, but he's got a hell of a basketball head on his shoulders!

I was rooting for Duke, but the officiating was pretty bad...the Devils definitely got a 6-10 point swing on some pretty bad calls. I'll take it, though. But I'd be peeved if I'd been pulling for Butler.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

I am Duke girl, but I must say I would've been ok if they would've lost to Butler. I like their coach (he reminds me a lot of Dakota's HS principal), and it would've definitely been an 'underdog' kinda thing.

Jon Scheyer is awesome. Kyle Singler looks like he belongs in the "Thriller" video as one of the zombies, but he's a great baller. Coach K rocks. 8)
