And more fallout...

ATLANTA -- The Georgia police officer who took the first report from the woman who accused Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of sexual assault has resigned.

Milledgeville police Chief Woodrow Blue on Friday confirmed that Sgt. Jerry Blash resigned Wednesday, a day before the Georgia Bureau of Investigation made public all documents related to its investigation of a 20-year-old woman's claim that Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her.

Prosecutors announced earlier this week that they are not charging Roethlisberger in the March 5 incident. Blash is the only officer who interviewed the quarterback. He acknowledged in an interview with investigators that he made some derogatory comments about the accuser to other officers.

Multiple calls to a phone number listed for Blash went unanswered.

A little more than a week after the alleged assault was reported, photos surfaced online of Roethlisberger smiling alongside Blash. Blue said the photos were taken hours before the allegation was made.

Blue said on March 12 that beyond filing the report, Blash was not involved in the investigation.

Also revealed in the GBI reports released Thursday was the fact investigators wanted to talk with a woman about a separate incident reportedly involving Roethlisberger.

The documents show that after the alleged assault in Milledgeville, a 16-year-old in a youth law enforcement program told authorities he knew about incidents involving Roethlisberger and a friend's sister.

Authorities repeatedly sought to interview the woman, who is in her early 20s, but she declined. The teen had said he believed the two-time Super Bowl winner twice made unwanted sexual advances toward the woman.

A message seeking comment about the possible earlier incidents was left with his lawyer. In the meantime, the fallout continues to affect the Steelers, this time in the pocketbook. The behavior of Roethlisberger and former Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes might result in a fine by the NFL of as much as $200,000.

Holmes, traded Sunday to the New York Jets, is suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the league's substance abuse policy, and has been involved in a number of incidents that put him in a bad light.

This has actually gotten worse in the wake of Roethlisberger escaping legal trouble! Regardless of what was said yesterday, I wonder what Art's thinking now as each new morsel comes out? I see a trade

This guy has a serious sexual problem. The chickens need to come home to roost on this scumbag before he really hurts some woman.

The 572 pages of documents released on Thursday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation likely contain plenty of useless and irrelevant stuff. But, apparently, the materials contain some interesting information that could make things even more difficult for Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Buried in an item in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution regarding the newly-available materials appears reference to an "unsubstantiated allegation" that a "drunken Roethlisberger" made an "unwanted advance" at another Milledgeville-area woman on an unspecified date during a party at Roethlisberger's house in the area.

Per the GBI information, Roethlisberger allegedly pulled down his pants and told the woman she could "do whatever she wants." A week later, he allegedly forced his hand up the same woman's skirt.

The woman was able to get away, and her father advised her not to file a formal criminal complaint. (Her father also may have asked her why in the hell she went back to his house a week after he "showed her who he was.")

If this stuff keeps coming out, Ben is going to get the Pacman treatment. As you may recall, Mr. Jones' one-year suspension was based largely on a string of arrests and police incidents; despite a couple of eventual guilty pleas, he never once spent a night in jail.

But yet, that woman keeps going back to his house every week and probably took pleasure into slobbing his knob. These women are even nastier than the allegations they spew out of their hole, which ever one it may be. Don't believe everything you read, but once, twice, three times, whatever it is, it's all the same now. All of these woman will come out of the woodwork claiming such things and it will probably go back as far as his days at Miami of Ohio. I just can't wrap my head around it on how fucking stupid a human being can actually be, just nonsense.

Did you read the source? This was only in legal documents that have been released only because the investigation has now closed. This woman did not come out and make her allegations public, nor did she file charges or even threaten to do so. I don't see any incentive for her to be making it up as of now, unless she files charges now that these documents have come out.

It fits the profile.

I do agree on one thing, she's a retard for going back there.

Ben's at an all vulnerability high and this is the time to press a civil suite and ring it for hush money for any women he's EVER come in contact with. It's eerily similiar to any other sports figure that gets caught up in something. Once something is being blown up within law enforcement and world wide publicity, more 'acts' follow. I'm sure he's banged so many women that we might be able to count in 10's on our hands and feet, but how many women actually went to the police and filed any charges? None. It's just hard to believe every word that comes out of these women's mouth, esp when the story changes ever so often. This GA story already has 3 different types of stories on what happened that night. What do you believe?

The sad thing is, noone will EVER know what has happened other than Roethlisberger, and the accuser. Anything else is he said/she said. What a shame these athletes just DON'T GET IT and probably never will.

Actually, I've been reading the statements of the original girl's friends and they are remarkably consistent and ironclad regarding the events leading up to them making it into the bathroom of the club. He and his bodyguards are the lowest of low and I believe he raped her. It's just very hard to prove rape legally under circumstances like these.

One story that's already been filed claims that the woman said that she "stumbled" upon a door and walked into the bathroom unauthorized, and Roethlisberger followed.

Another story says that one of Ben's body guards took her aside, walked her down a hall, and sat her on a stool. The body guard walked away, and Ben walked down the hall and exposed himself.

The story yesterday that came out claims that Ben's security team DRAGGED her into the bathroom with Ben following. The chicks friends then claimed that they were outside of the door pleading that she was drunk and didn't know what was going on. Several minutes later, Ben exited out of the bathroom.

The DA stated that there were major inconsistencies in their story. Her police report was almost non-readable since she was so drunk to the point of a black out stage. Even if Ben did no wrong, the allegations are claiming he is guilty and the general public will obviously take the side of the accuser, but there were several statements out there that are NON- consistent.

Travis, if you go and read the actual now-disclosed RECORD of all that went on, you can see that there was only one substantive version of events, as relayed by the girl's friends. The girl was too drunk to write the first time in her police report, yes, but at no point were her friends ever telling "different stories," according to the record.

The "alternate versions" you hear are things the media, as usual in its irresponsible nature, let slip or put its own spin on based on hearsay.

Regardless of what it may be, the damage against Roethlisberger has taken its toll and it will be a lengthy process for him to regain the composure and respect of all NFL and Steelers fans alike, if it even happens AT ALL. Whatever it may be, the case is closed and no crime has said to be committed so that makes judgment even harder to rectify of what happened of he said/she said. Like I said, it's an unfortunate situation that these allegations will get NO closure, ever, and that's dis-heartening.

My faith is in the decisions of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the NFL and the Rooney's. Whatever comes about, I support, but my judgmental to Ben as a person has severely been damaged and there's no doubt he has put scum in the Pittsburgh name. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and I'm eager to see his response, whatever it may be.

The Steelers WILL be fined. This policy was put forth in 2008. If you have bad people making stupid decisions within the organization, not only does the players get fined or a punishment, but also the team that these players reside with. This whole entire off-season is filthy dirty.

http://nationalsportsreview.com/sports/ ... interview/

Beware of all the disinformation floating around out there: especially the “fact” that Ben had followed the woman into the bathroom leaving some guards posted outside the door – the source of which appears to be the woman’s friend. I’ve taken this straight from DA Bright’s post-statement interview:

Q: Could you talk about the report that one of his bodyguards possibly blocked the place off from her sorority sisters?

A: The Capital City Club has a main dance floor. They have a curtain you can move over and screen it off. They let him and his entourage use what they call the V.I.P. area. So he’s got him and his eight, nine, 10 friends. They did say, ‘Let only girls back here. Let only girls back here.’ Capital City did have one bouncer stationed in front of the black curtain. There were two bodyguards back there. There was just a lot of drinking and talking and socializing back there. The best from a prosecution point of view that we get is one of the – none of the bodyguards or anyone in the entourage talked about Ben being back there by himself with the victim, about any sex, about knowing of any sex, nothing like that – the best from our angle that we get is one of the bodyguards said the victim asked to use the restroom, that she has to use the restroom, and so she was escorted back there and sat on a stool. That’s all he saw. He didn’t see Ben go back there. None of the bodyguards or any of the entourage saw anything improper going on back there between Ben and the victim.

Puts things into perspective that there is two sides to EVERY story. Remember, the story that were dealt came from the victims friends. Also, if you want to read logical and great points:

So the results are in, and Ben Roethlisberger has been cleared of all charges.

From public reaction, you'd think he'd been found guilty.

"Grow up" says the Georgia DA, even as he can't provide evidence of any wrongdoing. That sentiment echoes all over Pittsburgh and beyond, with Ben being characterized as a dumb, reckless overgrown (and overweight) frat boy.

With that in mind, I give you the movie "Animal House," the story of a fraternity gone wild on a particularly uptight college campus.

In one scene, Otter, the face-man of the frat, must address a campus court bent on kicking his Delta House off campus. The Delts have held a particularly notorious “Toga” party, the aftershocks still being felt around town.

Says Otter: "Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether we broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with our female party guests - we did." He winks at the college's Dean Wormer, who shoots him a look that could freeze fire. The showdown is on!

Last night, Ben gave the standard short-and-sorry statement once the verdict was released. It was scripted, staged, semi-apologetic, and oh-so-predictable.

But why not just be straight? I for one would rather have seen him take the Otter approach.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue is not whether I broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with my female party guest -- I did." He then winks at "Dean" Goodell, glaring from his office in New York City. The showdown is on!

As the gathered media buzz, Ben continues, following Otter's next words almost to a tee.

"But you can't hold a whole football team responsible for the behavior of one sick twisted individual. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole football system? And if the whole football system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our institutions in general? I put it to you, Dean - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to me, but I'm not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!

With that, mimicking the movie, Ben leads the entire Steelers team out the door, humming the Star-Spangled Banner. A red-faced Dean Goodell spews out: "you're finished here Roethlisberger! You and all your reckless Steeler buddies! Finished I say!"

Don't like that version? Then how about this one: "Hi I'm Ben Roethlisberger, and I've just been cleared of all charges. To everyone who declared me guilty before this day, you can now shut up, slip back into your #7 jerseys and head down to Peppi's for a Roethlisburger. Later."

Or how about this one? Roethlisberger says nothing, but flips the bird and walks out the door. It's a fitting response to the "dump Ben" crowd, a group made up of Ravens and Browns fans, plus assorted cranks, idiots and morality fairies.

Still not to your liking? Well, finally, then, how about a post-Super-Bowl-style Disney riff? "Hey Big Ben, you've just been exonerated of assault charges! What are you going to do now?" Says Ben,"I'm headed to Bare Elegance for a lap dance!"

But back to reality. As District Attorney Bright said Monday, "...we do not prosecute morals. We prosecute crimes.” Thing is, for some people that's not good enough. We can't bust Ben for doing anything illegal? Fine, we'll nail him for his... bad behavior.

"Bad Ben" must now pay for his sins. Step one was dumping his buddy 'Tone for a ham sandwich, massive receiving output be damned. Step two? The little vacation away from the game being proposed in the papers by Mr. Cook et. al. Never mind it's unprecedented that a player's been suspended without actually being charged of a crime. It's time to make an example of Mr. Roethlisberger for the good of all. Wouldn't want to get the race-carders all riled up now, would we?

So the next step is to suspend, and for how long. Pardon me for being a little slow here, but exactly for what? I mean, the legal investigators couldn’t prove anything, so I guess he’s on the hook for… for… somebody help me.

As I said in my previous commentary, either Ben's guilty of some crime, in which case you punish him, or he's not. Since he's now been pronounced "not" then it all comes down to busting him for appearances. Was doing whatever Ben did with said 20-year-old illegal? Not according to the investigators, but it sure does look bad. Yep, the whole brouhaha boils down now to appearances.

OK, if it's appearances we're talking about then, why, for example, does a guy like Tom Brady skate by all celebrated as a league icon, when he's fathered two different kids by two different mothers? Talk about unseemly -- Tommy Boy switched girlfriends just about the same time his ex announced her pregnancy. And yet there are jagoff Pats fans out there talking trash about Ben, actually taunting Stillers fans for not having such a "moral" hero like their boy. And yet there is the league, still making Brady their poster guy. http://www.associatedcontent.com/articl ... dlock.html

How about Bill Belichick? He got sued by a guy for allegedly stealing his wife and breaking up his marriage. Why not a suspension there, if it's simple lack of morality we're now punishing? Again, no charges were proven, but hey, that's not the point right? http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2007/01/29/beli ... classless/

The National Football League’s personal conduct policy refers to “conduct that undermines or puts at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL.” What, you’re telling me what these two guys did IMPROVED that rep or something? In the words of a certain gold-toothed rival: “child, please.” And once you head down that slope, suspension without charge, where does it stop? Do we suspend a guy, say, for taking a dump in some chick’s clothes closet?

From now on, suspend every player who ever sets foot in a strip club – after all, ogling nude women can’t be good for the league’s image. Do the same for every guy who fathers a kid without being married, because hey, that goes against the values that made this country great! Same for everyone who gets drunk and makes an ass out of himself – hey, that’s the NFL you’re puking on when you blow chunks in that bar! Same for every guy who ever cheats on his wife – or with someone else’s.

Most of all, do the same for every guy who ever even gets ACCUSED of doing any of the above. Because remember, we don’t need a proven charge, just the accusation.

Pretty soon, you won’t have to worry about cutting players anymore – because half the league will be suspended at any given time.

Now, this isn't to say Ben doesn't have some serious accounting of himself to make. (If that take-a-girl-in-back-post-bodyguard-in-front stuff is true, that shit has to stop now.) But frankly, I'd rather see some action rather than some canned words followed by some public-relations-based suspension. You want to make this up to us Ben? We don't need no stinkin' apologies. Show us you're for real this time. Start spending time in the weight room, not the ladies' room. Start hanging out in the film room, not the VIP room. Dedicate yourself as never before, and put yourself on a mission to bring home another ring -- call it "7 brings home 7" if you need some slogan for motivation. Tell us it’s the least you can do to make up for things.

Then, when you're up on the champs' podium, say nothing. Just let that trophy's shine blind all the Browns and Ravens and Pats fans who've been pleasuring themselves at the thought of you and the Steelers parting ways. Wouldn't THAT just be the thorn in their asses? Not to mention all the low-lifes on the 'net pretending that this is about their concern for some young woman, and women's rights, and victim's rights, and all that other smokescreen garbage. Screw them most of all!

Now, here’s a quote off a football-talk message board by someone named “Ranoversquarells.” I think it sums up things nicely:

“Yes Steelers, trade Roethlisberger. Do whatever it takes to reclaim your special brand ...

Signed

Patriots Nation (and quite possibly every other team in the NFL)”

Stillers fans, enjoy the finger-wagging by Steigerwald and Cook and all the other media judges, who'll be clucking about Ben even as his bad acts sell more papers and rack up more hits for their sites. Kick him when he's up, kick him when he's down, boys, and keep on dredging up that dirty laundry! (I hear even the original bad-attitude boy, Terry Brad, is jumping on the pile.) Why look, he's even changed his... hair!!! TMZ would be proud.

As for me, I'm off to dinner; suddenly I've got a taste for lamb. Make mine well-done and extra sacrificial.

But before I go, let me ask you one question: Which would you take, the boy scout who chokes every playoff game, or the delinquent who brings home the sticky Lombardis? I'd be interested in your honest answer.

The Beaver County attorney for one of Ben Roethlisberger’s bodyguards came out swinging Friday.

Michael Santicola told Channel 11’s Alan Jennings that the Georgia district attorney’s news conference this week was a political commercial for his re-election campaign and insisted the witnesses were all drunk the night a 20-year-old claimed Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her, making their recollection about his client foggy at best.

Channel 11 arranged a sit-down interview with Santicola on Friday. Jennings brought a DVD of the news conference for a direct point of reference.

Santicola represents Coroapolis police officer Anthony Barravecchio.

“In no way did Mr. Barravecchio escort or guide this girl or any girl down the hallway into the bathroom,” said Santicola.

According to police reports obtained by Channel 11, the woman identified the white bodyguard as the one who stopped her friends from getting to her.

“Some statements were made he drug a girl down the hallway and into the bathroom -- also equally ridiculous and untrue,” said Santicola.

Santicola revealed the woman’s blood alcohol level was 0.20, more than twice the legal driving limit, suggesting a foggy recollection.

According to Santicola, the case was weak from the beginning because all of the witnesses were drunk.

Santicola summed up the accounts as “highly inebriated individuals versus sober off-duty police officers."

Lawyer For Ben's Bodyguard Defends Client

They claim Ben Roethlisberger and his friends worked together in the alleged sexual assault of a 20-year-old college student.

The allegations come from hundreds of pages of documents released by authorities in Georgia.

This latest account comes from deep within the 500 pages of case files released by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Detailed are two supposed unwanted sexual encounters between Roethlisberger and a 21-year-old Georgia woman who reportedly told others that she drove a drunken Roethlisberger home and that he slammed the door behind her and pulled his pants down.

In another encounter, he is said to have lured her into a bedroom and put his hand up her skirt.

The problem with the information is that it is third-hand and the woman declined to speak with police.

"We do not prosecute morals, we prosecute crimes," District Attorney Fred Bright said on Monday.

These new details were released along with others about Roethlisberger on the early morning of March 5 when he was accused of sexual assault by a 20-year-old co-ed.

In a statement written the morning after, the victim says Roethlisberger cornered her in a bathroom and wouldn't let her leave.

"I still said, 'No, this is not OK,' and then he had sex with me. He said it was OK. He then left without saying anything."

But this differs from her initial statement to a police officer.

"But he said quote, 'Did he rape you?' and her response was, 'No,'" Bright said. "Next, the first officer asked did they have sex and she said, 'Well, I'm not sure.'"

"If they believed her or believed this story, they would have filed – they did not – so they did not file," Michael Santicola, an attorney for the Coraopolis police officer who was serving as a security guard for Roethlisberger that night, said.

Santicola disputes several accounts in the police files, including one from a friend of the victim who says Roethlisberger exposed himself on his way to the bathroom where the alleged assault occurred.

Sheehan: "What about Ben having his pants down?"

Santicola: "Absolutely, untrue. Not one single shred of truth in that statement."

Sheehan: "He didn't walk down the hallway with his pants down?"

Santicola: "Absolutely not."

Steelers President Art Rooney II said the team and the league will discipline Roethlisberger but give him a chance to redeem himself as quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Rooney called certain allegations revealed earlier in the week at the DA's press conference "conjecture" and said the essential point the Steelers took away is that Ben was not charged.

The guy is in the NFL. Tell me there isn't someone in his locker room (or better yet, the Baltimore Raven Locker room) who couldn't help school this fucker on the proper way to remove a potential problem maker.
GB, you're too twisted for primetime TV; only you would think of some shit like that.

Ben is gone... he's disgraced himself in Pittsburgh... they'll dump him..

It's all over the place here in Pittsburgh, but my final verdict is he stays put. There is far too much invested in him and releasing him would be a severe and huge mistake to the onfield product the next years to come. With the suspension, rehab, dealing with doctors and psychiatrist, good behavior and winning football games will all but close the book on this within the next couple years. Could be worth it to stick behind him and let it patch up. That said, who knows what going to happen.

At one point during the evening, a bartender at The Brick said a student and co-worker named Aliesha Scholten asked Mr. Roethlisberger if he wanted to go back to their sorority house.

"Hell no," Mr. Roethlisberger is said to have responded. "That's a lawsuit waiting to happen."

It could not be determined with certainty from reading the witness statements whether Mr. Roethlisberger personally bought or directly handed any of the underage women a drink, and students gave conflicting accounts.

How ironic of a statement. He wouldn't go back to a sorority girls house, but he would stay at the same bar and rape an underager, in a 2X4 bathroom. These woman are fuckin evil these days.
