Ever notice how you all start out with the same line? It should be the official Loon signature.

 ..I love this too.
It's like, "gotta get that in their to curry favor w/ Stephen and his handlers!!"
You know GD well if they knew where he was they'd be stampeeding tearing Kinison limb from olimb. :D

The one good thing Nostrildamus has going for him is that he seems pretty health conscience and probably stays out of the vicinity of buffet style restaurants. I just wonder if that's to stay healthy or avoid the vast majority of his fans.

The use of "Stephen" by his fans has always been nothing more than a screaming memo that you're dealing with a person that's somewhere between Richard Speck and Charles Manson on the sanity scale.

If he doesn't owe them anything, why is there so much whining about him about when is he going to put out a new CD over and over almost obsessively and begging for an acknowledgement on HIS birthday to where he has to come out with the perfunctory birthday line? What grown adult fans beg for a post on his birthday? Many loons do think he owes them something, I guess.

U2 is an amazing band Dan.

It's all a matter of tense here. U2 is a great band, Journey was.

You know, I have been pretty harsh on Journey the last three years. I now know why. Their problem is they are being compared to their former self, not against the competition. An Arnel fronted Journey blows an REO, Styx, Heart, Night Ranger, 38 Special, (insert 80's act here) band away......their problem is their fan base is so hardcore, that they compare and contrast modern day Journey to Classic Journey. It really is unfair to them. I can make the point that U2, Springsteen, Petty, etc, are all better than Journey, but that is twofold- A) it's a matter of taste, and B) the Classic Journey does stack up fairly well against anybody to be honest(based on sales and touring).

I hope I made some sense. I think I just had an epiphany.

Yes, I think you just had an epiphany. Thank God they don't hurt.
And yes, Journey will always be compared to their former incarnation ( and that was and still is the source of all the "wars" inside the fanbase). Unfair to the current line-up or not, it is what it is. Journey at its 80s peak is going to remain an unparalled phenomenon.

Your A) point is what everyone should keep in mind, but oh well...it's hard to do that when you're a hardcore fan.

I think Perry would have either continued his career some 10 years ago or even made a comeback 5-to-7 years ago with enough voice and power left in the tank to pull it off. There is no way he wants to pay the price now.

He has given more than his fair share of memories to all of us. Stop with the so called recording sessions, and the comments, and the writing sessions. When you give interviews only talk about the past and blow off any talk of the future unless you plan on following through.

I spoke with a writer who wrote a handful of songs with him a few years back and blogged about it. Then the blog was edited to omit that section. He said that all writing sessions are with the understanding that the songs are not to be used w/o Perry's permission and that he would prefer to keep them private. So there is the potential that all this great music is out there sitting on a shelf. At least let someone record these songs.

Steve Perry doesn't owe you, me or anyone anything! He has already given a big chunk of his life to music and to the fans over the years he sang and performed. He is a singer/songwriter and those feelings are something that will stay with him till the day he dies. In interviews he can talk or sing to his hearts content about studio sessions and writing sessions; it's in his blood....it's not something that an artist can just forget and stop doing. It's his songs....his words put to paper and if he decides that he doesn't want share them now or ever that is his choice. :D

That is right he does not owe us anything  my post was in regard to the fans just giving up on any new releases or live shows,as a singer/songwriter we enjoy his work its nothing to do with feeling he owes us anything!

You can make the point but I won't listen, Tom Petty is garbage the guy sings like he's drunk out of his mind,
I can't stand Tom Petty. Bruce sings like he's moving a bowel and his music is way over rated,

Current Journey is current Journey, I would never go and see some little monkey running around the stage trying to sing like Steve Perry. Steve Perry on the other hand will never sing live again because he know's the Whitney Houston fate awaits him if he tries,

LOL...Dude, gfo listen to modern day live Springsteen and feel free to compare him to say, Dennis DeYoung. He is a damned fine singer, and is always among the best live singers in each and every poll taken. I guess his music is overrated, having sold only 65 million records in the USA alone proves he sucks. I guess Styx's 17 million is much much more impressive than the Boss' accomplishments.

You're a fucking jackoff.

Forget about STYX that's not the issue, 65 million cds sold makes him great? Are you really this ignorant
M&M sold more than Springsteen is he worth anything? More like worthless,
The best song from Bruce is For You and his version is a joke, Manfred Mann had to come in a fix it.
Born to Run is vocally horrific, Born In The USA is laughable, As far as Dennis he sings better than Springboard
hands down.

The activities in this thread is as much action as this forum has had in awhile. It should be merged with the Journey forum then there would be more folks seeing this kind of fun. Steve Perry don't get as much traffic as Journey.
