I'll upload them to YouTube when I get back. Anyway, this weekend wouldn't have been complete without this guy!

I'm wearing my Soul Sirkus shirt on the plane ride home--just sayin'. you aren't here, my soul brothah, but we talked about you all weekend-ALL of us...rockers and fans and friends... so you really were here. I hope you had a great show in San Antonio.

I was just a few miles from you when I boarded the plane for Chicago. Absolutely the suckiest thing that has ever happened to me.

yes she did indeed.

I tuned it for her in case she sees folks tomorrow that didn't get to sign. They will naturally want to play!

sorry-previous post was mucho downer. I miss Jeff. period. I had just a snip of sadness all weekend, especially tonight.

I can sum up today in 2 words--Jimi Jamison. I'm sure lots of other schutt happened but I was distracted in anticipation til he played and deliriously content after. no pics or vids--sorry. I heard the 1 2 chords of Crossroads Moment and BOLTED out of that merch booth, knocking over tshirts, spilling cds and nearly decapitating Heather. I'm not sure how many I knocked down on the way to the front-nor do I care. He sang,

Crossroads Moment
Love the World Away
As Is.

oh, and some survivor schutt too. hehe. Eye of the Tiger, an old one, The Search is over. Maybe others. my brain i foggy at 3am.

DAY THREE was even wilder, and I somehow successfully did everything I possibly wanted to do. Big fat cherry on top of the sundae was meeting Kip Winger, and he was mega laid back and cool. I'd brought 4 Winger CD covers with me and 3 solo CDs, and handed him just one. He said he didn't mind signing them all and took them, then told the people standing by, "Do you know how many people download my s*** for free on the Internet? This guy paid and I'll sign everything he has." If that's not enough, he did a video for my wife telling her hi and sorry she couldn't make it to the show!!! (She'd asked me to get her an autograph cause she loves Winger.)

Got every cover I had signed in GOLD in by the whole band, and Kip's signed by him... dang!

If that wasn't cool enough, this seals the weekend for this fan...

You wouldn't believe how many people asked me where Jeff was tonight, fans and fellow rockers alike! I felt like a broken record! Jeff was truly missed this weekend!! He sent a message to be read to the audience while Ted Poley was on stage, after Ted asked where Jeff was. I wasn't able to get the message to Ted before the final song so I am posting it here......

"Ted, I'm here...where are u guys? Shit, I made a wrong turn & ended up in Dallas! Tell the crowd 'I wish I was there & Ted Poley kicks fucking ass! See u all soon & I promise to bring W.E.T to the US soon!' Rock on brother!" - JSS

No, it's John Roth from Winger, and Terry Brock to his left. The guy to my left is Winger's road manager.

I'll upload them to YouTube when I get back. Anyway, this weekend wouldn't have been complete without this guy!

EDEN'S CURSE KICKED ASS!!! For a band who had only really rehearsed a few hours before, they sounded incredible and the set list did not disappoint. Close to 90 minutes of in-your-face rock with killer riffs and hooks. Thorsten Kohne totally shredded, and I got about half his guitar solo on camera -- will post it when I get back. Lots of variety in it, and a nice section of it was a fine homage to Eddie Van Halen. Dang, that dude can shred! New guitarist Marcus Thurston seems very quiet and reserved when you see him around. But when he hit the stage he became a melodic rock madman -- outstanding lead player too, though he mainly handles the rhythm chops. This guy has a great career ahead of him, and is super nice in person. Another real sweetheart of a guy is drummer Pete Newdeck from London. A big intimidating looking guy when he's bashing the skins, but very cool and accommodating to the fans. Definitely a gentle giant. Big props also to bassist and main songwriter Paul Logue from Scotland!

PRIDE OF LIONS was outstanding, and it was my first time to see Jim Peterik play. I'd passed by him upstairs earlier and he passed by and gave me a nice smile and hello. You can just tell he is a happy guy, and I'm betting that Ichthus on the back of his guitar has something to do with it. ;) Anyway, he really, really ROCKED, and jumped out in the crowd at one point and was just hopping and dancing around with the fans while jamming out constantly on that wild guitar of his. Big highlight was Jimi Jameson joining singer Toby Hitchcock for "Burning Heart", which got a huge crowd reaction! When finished, Toby looked just as thrilled as everyone else, and said, "DUUUUUUUUDE!!! I just sang with Jimi Jameson!" You could tell that was amazing for him. I believe they closed with a very, very cool version of "Eye Of The Tiger".

DANGER DANGER -- What can I say? They are simply the cure for what ails ya! I'm fully convinced that you could be having the crappiest day in the world and these guys could make it ok. It was my first time seeing them live, and Stockton, Melissa and I were front and center and got it full force in the face! Ted Poley is an AMAZING showman... The dude is an entertainer thru and thru. He also went deep into the crowd to jam with fans, and at the end, he stage dived into the crowd. I was fumbling with my camera to get a decent shot, then suddenly I see these big pair of sneaker soles coming back right toward my head so I rushed to shut my camera off before I got hit, LOL!!!! It has a 10x zoom lens and takes about 8 seconds to power off so I barely made it just in time to help push him back on stage. It was also Bruno Ravel's birthday, and Ted had them sending shots of Southern Comfort and tequila on stage -- the first batch got kicked over by accident, but they successfully downed the second batch. Best line of the night was Bruno Ravel, when he smiled after a shot and said, "Let me tell ya something -- you ain't gonna see any other band come up here, get s***-faced and have fun like this, huh?"

Finally was Y&T and they were great! Unfortunately, my knees were pounding from being on my feet and I couldn't hold up at front with Stockton. Today, I am more prepared -- went to Walgreens and got some special orthotics for my shoes which should help tremendously. No way in hell I'm going to let my knees keep me from getting crushed up front for WINGER!!!

One quick note -- so many awesome, cool and nice musicians here this weekend, and right at the top of the list is Joe Vana from Mecca! He and his very talented ton were great, and hung out with us for a while during the Y&T set. That dude has an amazing voice and they were incredible yesterday. Thanks for the pics, Joe!!!

Also, I took one of the MR Fest II posters and a set of multi-colored metalic pens and had as many MR board folk sign it as I could find. I have 15 sigs in all right now, and hope to get a few more. I was especially shameless hounding DrFU for an autograph while she was focused on the crowd of people trying to buy shirts at the merch booth. Sorry about that Fu! LOL!!! Now you know what it's like!

Image

That's it for now... pics later. Trying to get an early jump on things. Less stalking today, more rocking. Probably not much relaxing though. :)

P.S. Mel after 3 margaritas, or whatever it was she was drinking is a TRIP!!! She's normally so shy and reserved, but when she came back to claim her front row spot for Danger Danger she was FEARLESS!!! Kitten had claws!!!!! LOL!!!! I was very impressed.

Thanks for the info. I went back and checked my tape and he didn't clarify that "Walk..." hadn't been performed in the U.S. before, but it sounds like that's what he meant. Definitely mentioned never in the U.S. during "Love Lies Dying".

Just uploaded the video and am working on the 2nd now (check the MRFest II video thread). Sucks but I accidentally started filming "Walk..." in portrait mode, and then goofed and stopped the video thinking it was still in pause mode. I thought about tacking the opening on with the rest but the video wouldn't match up and it would be missing a few seconds so I just left it off.

now, if he played Walk in the Fire, the song, that may very well be the first time live on that one... Was that played? Love to see his setlist.

btw....for what it's worth, he was apparently looked at by Journey post-ROR before the hiatus happened. I could have seen it working...

Terry has performed "Love Lies Dying" on a couple of occasions in Dallas, but both of those were solo acoustic.
