There are only three forums here that really matter.

This one.
The other Journey forum
And, the Styx forum.

The rest are pretty much inactive.

Anybody who pays for three internet forums is pretty foolish. And, any forum owner who wants to admin a pay forum related to Journey is even more foolish.

JUST messing with you homie. This thread has been interesting, and apparently not many people think they should pay anything here. If that's your opinion... that's okay. I just look at this as a form of entertainment. Unlike a lot of people here... If I want a new cd, I BUY it. I don't steal it and download it. The only times I've downloaded songs for free is when the artist didn't release it here in the U.S., or if it was out of print. I'm not paying 30 or more dollars for an album!

With that said... I think a lot of people here look at this forum with the same mentality. "If I don't have to pay for it, why should I?". Andrew needs our help to keep this site running... it's how he pays his bills! He'll never ask us to pay to post in here, but how much time do you all spend in here? How much do you pay for cable bills? $40 or $50 per month? What's wrong with throwing even ten or twenty dollars to this website to keep it open? Shit, I spend that at LUCH a lot of the time!

If all of you people who don't WANT to spend a dime lose this place... was it worth saving a few dollars? I'm not trying to be Mr perfect here... I'm just raising the question. This place is DEFINITELY worthy of a donation. Thanks for the site Andrew.

If this forum is weighing THAT much on Andrew's finances, then he should shut it down and concentrate on running his site. Maybe keep the notice board for general music discussion. Moving this into a pay forum would eliminate probably %90 of the traffic that comes here...because as a rule, most people lurk and don't post to forums like this. I spose in that way it lowers his need for bandwidth, but at the cost of hits and exposure for this site.

Comparing this to cable is ridiculous. Like I said, there are only three forums that matter here: this one, the other Journey one, and Styx. For satellite, I watch at least a half-dozen channels regularly, and maybe another half dozen infrequently. It's wort the money to me.

^^^Maybe you didnt detect the humor in my cable reference. I'm guessing comedy isn't part of your cable selection I do however feel it is not unreasonable to pay for any form of entertainment. And while maybe some aren't entertained by this forum, there are those who are so don't speak for all of us or put us down for it.

Just a few points.

The bandwidth of this forum will never be a problem, I have a dedicated server with a 100MBPS connection and a Terrabyte of data per month. The whole shebang costs me $500 a month to run. MR-X is the main user of bandwidth, then the frontpage and then the forums.

My only issue with finance is that the current economy has wiped out server sponsors and this business in general is as flaky as hell to make a living from. But I try.

All I can ask is you support the MRCD releases, MR-X, donations if possible and my upcoming MRR releases
