If this album contains references to old summer nights, relationships and keeping faith then I'm going to go find Cain and scribble a penis on his piano.
Personally, I don't see them branching that far out of their style for this album and I see myself getting disappointed. I mean, they already have a "formula" and they've stuck by that formula for 30 years. I can't, for example, see them suddenly making an album based around fantasy/folklore themes or making a 10 minute long song based around the theme of the album. Take a look at "Ghost Love Score" (

I know they are completely different styles, but that is not my point. My point is that nobody is holding Journey back but Journey itself. I recall an entire album full of instrumental music from these guys. Nobody has been stuck to the 3 minute long radio formula for a long time. Except people who give a shit about appealing to a bunch of 13 year old girls and 80 year old soccer moms because they are the only ones still listening and paying attention to the radio and buying damn CDs.
I know it's cliche, but they need to "get with the times" - and by that I mean, why stay stuck in this whole adult oriented rock mindset? Take a look around, this is 2010, and thanks to the Internet - you can pretty much find a niche for any band out there. I bet there is a website for guys who like sticking their dicks in cheese filled socks. If they truly want to be experimental and go balls to the wall....it's a perfect time to do it.
I'm happy for Arnel and he was responsible for my sudden interest in Journey again. If they don't deliver, I'm out and done with these washed up bands. I won't blame Arnel for it either. I will blame it on the fact that this is a band that is 25 years out of it's prime, missing it's star player.
