Facebook CEO calls FB users "dumb f***s"

Postby Rip Rokken » Tue May 25, 2010 2:39 pm

Facebook is now in full damage-control mode over all their "privacy" scandals. They called an emergency meeting to deal with it, and even Mark Zuckerberg himself has released a spin-laden letter trying to contain the damage. Now someone's released an excerpt of a chat transcript with Zuckerberg 6 years ago when he was at Harvard. He brags about all the personal info people forked over to him and called them, well.... you'll see. :)

Zuck: Yeah so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard

Zuck: Just ask.

Zuck: I have over 4,000 emails, pictures, addresses, SNS

[Redacted Friend's Name]: What? How'd you manage that one?

Zuck: People just submitted it.

Zuck: I don't know why.

Zuck: They "trust me"

Zuck: Dumb fucks.

Yeah... that's about right Mark!

A chick at work today asked me if I was on facebook. I told her that I wasn't and she was like "what? I can't be your friend?" She went on to tell me about some weird bullshit where people have written negative stuff about her on her "wall". Glad I'm not on there, sounds like a load of shit's and giggles.

I've been reading tons of new articles on this stuff. This one is eye-opening, but not surprising. I predicted all this stuff years ago anyway:

Really interesting to find out what the real purpose of the "Like" button is.

When facebook first came out, I heard a bunch of people talking about negative affects brought on by people being able to learn about your personal life on there who may be your boss or employer. I started thinking this facebook is a wonderful tool that can be utilized to "mold" the community. Say specific people and their way of thinking is undesirable in a specific community, facebook is the tool that can be used to find out who all in the community they want and do not want to be a part of it. When they establish who they do not want, they take away their jobs, charge them full price for everything such as healthcare and insurances, and basically drive them out of the community.

Sort of a modern day way of what the North Vietnamese did to the South Vietnamese after the fall of Saigon. The North Vietnamese came in and sent all of the South Vietnamese out to live in tents out in the jungles. The ones that wouldn't leave were executed. That was all before modern computers and internet. Now this can be done by just finding out the way people in specific communities think. The people who they don't feel are "right" for their community are sent out to live somewhere else. They drive them out by first making them pay full price for everything, next they lay them off or fire them for stupid reasons. Facebook is such a tool, that's what I believe anyways. I call facebook a "community forming tool."

I hear ya. I knew what it was (or would become) when I joined it. I use my message board name and have no personal information there other than photos from trips. I also refuse to use any of the apps, surveys, games, or accept any of the crap Blingees people send. FB has been helpful and fun for communicating with people, but I doubt even IM's are truly safe there.
