Wow! My boss and I just watched that... that was pretty freakin' cool!!

You get to watch videos on the internet with your boss???

No, not usually... but she wanted me to see the Lee DeWyze "Hallelujah" vid, so we watched that and this one. Her nanny is related to Lee, plus it's big news here, being a local guy and all. She was like "you have to see that performance!"

Chicago. He's from a close suburb (which is 5 min from my office).
It's all they can talk about on the news.

The Blackhawks are in the Stanley Cup Finals and the biggest news story is about a guy named Dewyze?

Not that it matters cause Crystal will have a better career than Lee, but Lee is a hack. He may be a hell of a nice guy, but he hasn't got 'it'. He isn't distinctive, not original, and his vocals are quite flat and weak. Not sure who the voters were...probably jaded neo-cons left over from '00 and '04....personally, I think the voting is a scam.....peace out!!!!

It seems like this happens A LOT of years. Doesn't it? I think the voting thing is really dumb. The ones who are true talents are the ones who make it, NOT the idol winner. I usually only catch a show here or there and watch the finale only because of the guest appearances. There are a few "idol" winners and non-winners I like, but I don't get too wrapped up in the show. :)

There was talk of how the voting has decreased over 50% from the shows high point a few years ago, so definitely not much of a majority representing America anymore.

Only 2% difference ??? I thought Simon pushed for Lee. They will both make $$$$ & be glad they did AI. Do I see worldwide tours like Adam has done ...... NO. Adam tours the US this summer and then back for another tour of Europe this fall. Lee and Crystal will never attain that type of fanbase, but will make a good living.

That's because Crystal is a Joplin, or Bonnie Raite/Etheridge type....and Adam is an Adam Ant/Bowie/Gabriel type - all shock value. America is brainwashed into liking shit-ass music.....I have spoken!!!

You never know if they will make a good living. That silver-haired bluesy singer that won (name escapes me) is down to touring in theater, Grease, I think. I don't think his CD sold well at all. Daughtry should have won.

The Hick.

I went on Wikipedia about him. They dropped him b/c it had only gone gold or eventually 700,000 . He has been the lowest selling winner. It said he made 300,000 last year touring as teen angel with Grease (he sings on song in the show and one of his after the show) and his album he put out himself. I guess 300,000 is nothing to sneeze at compared to what he was making b/f. but with no label, will he lose any interest in him as time goes by.

single from his album last year: http://www.youtube.com/v/GSL4e7uWgE4&hl=en

I love Adam's style (and his music), I love Crystal's style (we'll see what kind of music she comes out with but I'm sure I'll love it too). I guess everybody likes what they like, and everyone has an opinion about what shit-ass music is. So there :P

Well another season of Idol is over, and the outcome is as I thought - the opposite of who I wanted to win won. It's not that I don't like Lee, but I found his performances to be "just okay" and overall, think he is very ordinary in talent. Did anyone else notice how many times Lee said "amazing" in one night? :? I thought that was amazing  And what I like least about the whole win, is the decision to have Lee's first single to be "Beautiful Day" - what happened to the original song?? He certainly is no U2, and I can't imagine anyone picking his version over the original, which is still is wide circulation. Bad decision AI people! Don't much matter since I will buy Crystal's CD when it is released and see if she outsells Lee in the long run. Overall, an entertaining show last night but it was also sad to see Simon leave :(

Oh well, until next year...

Deb- You sure left a trail of firecracker dust with that post. I just don't think the average poster realizes Adam is not just a runner up, but accepted worldwide. SImon was right. Name me another AI contestant that tours the world since the AI tour. I would love to know how many cd's he has sold worldwide. I was surprised with the China fanclub and Russian but MTV promotes him because he has several hits in their top 10 at the same time.

Rockinfaye - I just went to another site and RCA entertainment associated with AI has already signed Lee & Crystal, so album probably in the fall. Casey need a deal. Maybe Bret can help him with that if AI doesn't.

Oh, good to know. I'm certain Casey will get an album out there as well...afterall, if getting to 3rd on AI doesn't get you a deal it's time to hang up the guitar. The duet between Casey & Bret was cool, especially since I love "Every Rose Has It's Thorn"

It's pretty fuckin' pathetic when Journey fans trash other music. Don't get me wrong, I love Journey, in almost every era, but Journey is ripped apart daily by everyone from rock snobs to songwriters and we as Journey fans should be a little more accepting, but of course, many never learn from history or their own mistakes.

Journey has nothing to do with Adam's screeching, tongue sticking out vocals. Yeah, he has a high vocal range, but to me he still sucks. To me, there's more to being a great singer besides which octave you can get to. His theatrics are also something that turn me away from his music. But hey... I'm not telling anyone else not to support him. If you like that sort of thing... that's on you.

A big difference here is that Journey WRITES their songs. They arrange them, and they got to their level of success by hard work and YEARS of constant touring and recording. Not by getting up onstage and basically winning a popularity contest. I'm willing to bet that we'll hear one more follow up to Adams album (well you might, but I wont!), then he disappears. Just my $.02.

Jim, comparing musicians isn't something I do. If I like 'em I like 'em and if I don't, I don't listen. To deny Adam's talent is whack, (as Whitney would say, LOL), and I'm not saying anyone has to like anyone else, but you're a musician and you can hear well enough to know that Adam can sing.

And actually, when critics try to gut Journey, they always talk about Steve Perry's over the top vocals and Popera style. I'm sure David Bowie's theatrics turned many people off, as do the theatrics of Kiss and every other band that has used them. Hell, even Freddy Mercury got skewered for his style, and he's one of the greatest rock voices in the history of music.

And Adam does write and co-write alot, but when a label owns you, you do what the label says.

I simply don't understand the need to belittle other people's musical taste from people, that's what my post is about and glass houses of course.
