As a sort of olive branch for past insults, I made a few calls and can assure you that Niagra Falls has pristine water and is running quite well for kayaking. :lol:

Yes, funny how so many things a few do are "overlooked". I don't think T Bone has been given permission to do as much as he would like to, to make this forum a better and more comfortable place for everyone to join.
By the way..you are one of the very, very few people to speak up about the issue...rarely has anyone, as most are too afraid to so that they won't be targeted by the net bullies who have free reign here to do and say what they please. I'm all for free speech as I'm sure you are but some misuse that freedom to be ill willed, abusive, vile and obnoxious as they can be and lie as much as they can for their benefit. I've always thought that if more people spoke out against the clearly over the top behavior of a few then they wouldn't get away with it but as it is Andrew goes with majority rules so the more backers a few gather the more they can get away with. Anyway....thank you.

The MMS Minerals Management Service gave BP the OK . Another Agency of this bloated Federal Government. Well, your employees seemed to be very busy doing meth and visiting porn sites. There will be hearings,of course, with politicians getting face time. What we need to do is have a complete overhall of the fed gov't. Maybe then the left shoe & right shoe will know whats up. This was on CNN plus others.

The government has needed a complete overhall, all branches, all areas, regardless of party, for a very long time.

tell the illegals they can stay. Their new job is to clean up the oil slick.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

First the mess has to be cleaned up as much as possible.....but they will never be able to clean it up entirely ...dispersant's don't make oil disappear, it will still be there. This catastrophic damage to the Gulf should be the last wake up call needed that we must move away from a dependence on oil.

It's Time to End Our Dependence on Oil
_________________________________

Memorial Day honors the sacrifice of servicemen and women who gave their lives to defend our country and way of life. But Memorial Day weekend also marks the traditional start of the summer driving season, during which many of us take to the roads for travel and vacations. This Memorial Day, it's important that we reflect on both aspects of the holiday -- and understand the connection between the two.

America's addiction to oil is a threat to our national security, as well as our economy and our environment. This connection is important enough that the Sierra Club and the American Security Project have recognized the shared need to come together to talk about it:

* TRANSPORTATION: The U.S. uses nearly 400 million gallons of oil every day moving people in automobiles, goods on freight truck, air travel, rail and transit. Of all the oil used in the United States, 70% is consumed by transportation. Cars and light trucks use nine million barrels of oil per day.

* NATIONAL SECURITY: Of the imported petroleum Americans consume, 68 percent is supplied by countries at "high risk" or "very high risk" for instability. Oil dependence gives leverage and money to potential adversaries, and risking embroiling the U.S. state in endless conflicts abroad to secure access to oil.

* ECONOMIC SECURITY: Americans send over $1 billion abroad every day to pay for oil, resulting in lost jobs and increasing dollars in the hands of foreigners who we increasingly rely upon to finance our deficits. The U.S. borrows money from the Chinese to buy oil from the Saudis, causing greater national debt and dependence on the goodwill of others to allow its economy to function.

* ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: The BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is an example of what could happen again if we increase off-shore drilling. In the United States, burning fossil fuels for electricity and transportation is the largest contributor to global warming pollution. Transportation is responsible for approximately one-third of all U.S. carbon dioxide emissions.

America can do better we can end our oil addiction. Meeting this challenge will not be easy, but nor will it require tremendous sacrifices. We can address our national security and climate change concerns with a series of smart and interconnected policy options that will gradually transition the country to a post-oil economy.

SOLUTIONS:

* Tightening fuel economy standards for all vehicles;
* Promoting the development and deployment of electric vehicles of all types;
* Investing in rail for freight and also passengers;
* Creating livable communities where transit, walking and biking are real and oil-free choices;
* and exploring biofuel and hydrogen fuel as alternatives to oil.

This Memorial Day, we should honor the brave men and women who fought for this country, and at the same time we should examine what we can do to mitigate the threat to American security of oil dependence. It's time to call on President Obama to create a solid plan for ending our country's dependence on oil.

Obama's hands were tied by Bush's deregulation. Anyway, I would agree he hasn't been nearly forceful enough - he should have called in the Navy and had their tankers siphoning at least some of the flow.

Would've helped if he didn't go on vacation 5 days after the explosion. But without a teleprompter, he'd need at least a week's vacation to dream up the 'boot on the throat' phrase.....

I don't. I haven't been that impressed with his handling of this crisis at all, and I do not want offshore drilling off the Florida coast.

While one can argue this sorta thing after the leak is plugged, the damage has been assessed and there's enough time for a procedural investigation so that politicians can rely on it to make *INFORMED* statements of both impact and blame.....

...none of that has happened yet....

Absofuckinglutely none of it.

This dispicable president has made this event a political leverage tool. It completely explains the fact that he sat on his hands for more than a month and allowed this problem to fester into a disaster. The only acts of significance between the explosion and yesterday has been his assignment of blame.

Today, he staged a handful of pictures showing touring beaches. Wow!

And the fucking media hammered George Bush for waiting 2 days post Katrina!

Holy fuck people!

How anyone can look at Barrack Hussein Obama and not think of him as a complete piece of shit.....is beyond me.

I've seen Robert Redford running TV ads all week urging Obama to act. Kevin Costner has also been in the media promoting his own oil separation technology. They may lack the combined star wattage of an Al Gore Live Earth concert, but at least they're out there.

Dude, Im sure you can agree...if Bush were in office, the environmentalist left would be fucking skewering him on a minute by minute basis.

The difference is completely and starkly staggering.

Obama is being given such a fucking pass on this, it's nauseating.

He only has so much power - again, the Bush deregulation and caving into the demands of Big Oil tied the hands of the government and FDA when it comes to this issue. But he hasn't done some things he could have been doing to at least help - on that, I agree.

Then, between January and March of 2001, incoming Vice President Dick Cheney conducted secret meetings with over 100 oil industry officials allowing them to draft a wish list of industry demands to be implemented by the oil friendly administration. Cheney also used that time to re-staff the Minerals Management Service with oil industry toadies including a cabal of his Wyoming carbon cronies. In 2003, newly reconstituted Minerals Management Service genuflected to the oil cartel by recommending the removal of the proposed requirement for acoustic switches. The Minerals Management Service's 2003 study concluded that "acoustic systems are not recommended because they tend to be very costly."

The acoustic trigger costs about $500,000. Estimated costs of the oil spill to Gulf Coast residents are now upward of $14 billion to gulf state communities. Bush's 2005 energy bill officially dropped the requirement for the acoustic switch off devices explaining that the industry's existing practices are "failsafe."

There is so much truth to these statements above. If Bush was in office now, all the people who are missing from this issue now would be saying Bush caused this spill on purpose to benefit from it in some way. May even go as far as to accuse Bush of doing it to take everybody's eyes off the bad economy situation or some shit.
