Bobby, if he was straight, would it bother you as much by me saying he is where he is because of shock value? Why does it bother you so much? Marilyn Manson is a fucking retard in my book too! When he has to act like such a freak to get an audience... how is that talent? I'm not saying Adam can't sing, because he can AT TIMES. When he sticks his damn tongue out and screeches, I think he sounds like utter shit.
It's my opinion, and my opinion and $2.00 will buy me a cup of coffee somewhere. You're free to have your own opinion also. Don't tell me I'm wrong though, because my opinion doesn't line up with yours.
If you want to see two grown men making out on stage... that's your prerogative. I don't, and most people in this country don't want to see that shit.If someone wants to lead that lifestyle, I won't knock them for it. It's their decision. At the same time, I don't want it thrown in my face like I'm supposed to accept it and have no problem with it. You know I've never had any problem with you being gay, but I get sick of people in this country acting like straight people are in the wrong for not wanting it around them and in their faces.
And how many years did Adam sing in clubs or bars? I don't recall him doing anything except theater, but I could be wrong. Being an actor in plays is not paying your dues to the music industry... it's paying your dues in the acting scene. If I'm wrong here, then I stand corrected. Just my $.02
Jim, I’ve never seen Marilyn Manson perform. I never liked his music or his style so I knew I didn’t care to see him perform.
I just thought Adam sticking his tongue out was a bad habit he developed to get the sound he wanted. Remember how Steve Perry always did that quivering bottom lip/jaw thing. I hated that, but it helped him with his sound and it was simply the way he sang. I got over it.
I didn’t tell you your opinion is wrong, I said you’re wrong if you think he can’t sing. Now let’s understand that for what it is, you don’t like him and for me I could give a flying fuck, honestly, that’s your business and you’re cool with whatever musical taste you have. You know I love your taste in music. My whole point was that anyone, especially someone as good as you musically can’t claim that Adam can’t sing, because he can and he’s proven again and again. Here’s a list of people I will never listen to for a second because I hate the WAY they sing:
Michael Buble’
John Legend
Lou Reed
Brett Michaels
Mick Jagger
Robert Plant when he screeches
Paul Stanley when he screeches
Both singers of AC/DC
Geddy Lee
Anthony Kiedis
And many, many more, notice I don’t claim they have no talent, nor do I claim they can’t sing, I just don’t like them and never will.
Now, using the bullshit excuse of “most people in this country” and then claiming what most want or don’t want is disappointing coming from you. I thought you were a little better than that. Homosexuals have had to see the that kind of display by heterosexuals all our lives, we accept it as expression of who they are and we go on. What you can’t handle with Adam or any other gay performer is all on you buddy, and has nothing to do with the performer. What kind of problem could you possibly have with it? Why is it any different from what Madonna does or what Buckcherry does or Tommy Lee? And straight people are IN THE WRONG for being that way. It’s a fact of life and pretty fuckin’ sad that you or anyone else wants everything censored and wrapped up in a neat and tidy heterosexual bow.
Again, my respect for you as a musician will always be there, but my feelings about you and your humanity have been altered. I hate that because I thought you were one of the good guys.
As for Adam paying his dues, he’s done what he did to get to where he is. He sang with a group and I’m sure he’s been perfecting his craft for years. There’s no rule book on paying dues. Some people get lucky, some don’t, but it’s not up to us to judge anyone. We as people who enjoy melody and meaning to music should be grateful there are people like Adam and television shows like Glee who are trying to bring back melodic music and educate the younger people in what real music is instead of ripping them apart. People can hate Lady Gaga all they want, but the bitch is musical and she’s brought back melodic melodies and intricate music to the radio. That’s something in the age of hip-hop and rap that I thought I’d never hear again.
Again, your taste is your taste and I don’t criticize you for it or trash you. But the personal stuff that you can’t seem to get over because of a performer being homosexual saddens me, but then again, the small majority of folks on this site seem to hate homosexuals too, so I guess this is the right place for you, the wrong place for me.
