No one's mentioned it for so long, I guess everything's swell over there in regards to the oil in 91'.

This may be what takes Obama down for the next election if he doesn't get a handle on this.

He is not getting elected again, no matter what, so I wouldn't automatically assume this could be the reason. He's already failed.

He's done more for the good of this nation than Dubbya did in his eight years after being "elected" and then re-elected. History will show that.

Some may want to hide their head in the sand and not look at the truth and devastation
but good luck finding an oil free spot in which to do so in the future.

All the rusted cars, the dissarray, not a soul around
It's the end result of a poison past, and it won't be long
Till there's no one left to eat or breathe
That’s the road we’re on...

So, line up and follow the fools
Or stand up and shout out the truth

Chorus:
These are ever changing times
Full of every danger sign
And the only hope for us to survive
Is to wipe away the lies
Every tear from every eye
Every woman, man, and child realize (recognize)
These ever changing times

All the sounds of war ringing in the air all around the world
And the endless game leaving no one spared when the flag’s unfurled
And the ground that’s gained is the ground that’s lost, making both sides lose
And the price that’s paid is the highest cost, ‘cause it’s me and you

So, line up and follow the fools
Or stand up and shout out the truth..don’t you know

(Chorus)

[Solo]

So, line up and follow the fools
Or stand up and shout out the truth..don’t you know

Unfortunately for you and the station owners, BP does not even own the stations. They are franchises. So, before you boycott, know that you are fucking other individual Americans out of their business, not the evil oil company.

My heart goes out to those folks, but a boycott WILL effect BP. When those stations either start a) shutting down or b) tearing up their BP contracts and getting their gas elsewhere.
If you really want to help those station owners, keep buying stuff INSIDE the store (as we've been told repeatedly that this is where the real profits come from) Buy your cigs, beer, lotto, etc just don't buy the gas! Ultimately, a message has to be sent to these douchebags. Did you hear what their CEO said??

How I see it is we are going to get "it" one way or the other. Either in raw form in the ocean or burned up in the air that we breath.

Maybe this is a stupid idea, but I keep thinking if there were a
way to drop a dome or something down there, contain it that
way somehow, then pipe it up through the top and try to
get it into a working rig again. I'm sure it would be way, way
harder than that sounds, but you get the idea.

I'm not sure I understand what everybody expects President Obama to do. Is he supposed to dive down there and stuff a rock in the hole or something?

The only way in which this catastrophe is even similar to Katrina is that they both came out of the gulf.

Katrina was an unpreventable act of nature, but this oil spill was preventable and the reason it happened is the same reason that tragic coal mine explosion in West Virginia happened - deregulation by Bush/Cheney in the interest of making their oil and corporate buddies richer.

Nobody could foresee this oil spill, but Katrina was forecasted for several days before it hit. There were things that could have been done to prevent the loss of so many lives. When it was obvious that nobody down there at the local or state level was doing anything then FEMA and the National Guard should have been down there nailing up plywood and evacuating people days before it hit.

The damage from Katrina was seen immediately, but for over a week the extent of the damage here was kept under wraps by BP. How was anybody supposed to know how massive the spill was going to be when BP was saying it was under control? The only people who could possibly repair or control this have been there from the beginning - the oil company that caused it and the Coast Guard.

What more do they really think can be done by the President or anybody else? If another oil company had a way to stop it that BP hasn't employed don't you think that in the interest of "drill baby drill" they'd have shared it by now? Don't you think that if the Army Corps or Engineers or anybody else had any ideas that they would have been tried by now?

Not only that, but they also knew those levees were unstable, and no work had ever been done to fix them.

Would that not be a state (or city) problem to address though? Not a government one? :?:

Obama has done everything within his power on this issue.

He looks the fool, however, because just three weeks prior to the oil spill, he had given the go-ahead for offshore drilling. So, in that sense, he is a hypocrite.

Did the morning walk on Biloxi Beach. Dead fish about every three feet ... mostly catfish, but also puffer fish, snapper, flounder ... a couple of dead sea birds. Heartbreaking, and the major slick hasn't even reached here yet. Damn, damn, damn.
