LMAO!!

I just read something cool... the last Hawks cup in '61 was also taken in Game 6, and also on away-ice. Kind of interesting!

Yep, congratulations to a helluva hockey club, HOWEVER........It would be incumbent of the GM to get himself a better goalie. Yeah I know Niemmi just won the toughest trophy in the world to win, but he can no way do it again. He just has too many soft goals go in, and he has more holes than swiss cheese.

I had to go back and watch - no one knew what the hell happened when it happened! I thought Kane was taking it around the back, next thing I know he had tossed his stick and the bench was empty! I swear I said "Wait - did they just... what!?!?

Not nearly as many holes as Leighton/Boucher apparently. The whole 'defense wins championships' philosophy got completely thrown out the window in this year's playoffs.

Goalie suggestion: Tim Thomas. Every year, the Bruins' management always throws away a couple pieces of their team nucleus just because they're too cheap to hold on to them. (Would the Flyers' 0-3 comeback still be reality if Phil Kessel had been resigned?) Since the Bruins have found their franchise goalie in Tuukka Rask, that means Tim Thomas will likely be on the trading block. Timmy had his swiss cheese moments this past year, but certainly he's a huge upgrade from what either the Hawks or Flyers have now.

Hmmm...last year's Vezina winner plays a handful of games this year. Now fans want him him gone. It is obvious the brass look at Rask as the future...And to your point about Kessel...he didn't want ro play here for the lone reason he's a ONE way player...doesn't want to play defense...they never replaced his offense, coupled with Seidenberg's injury, Sturm's, Krejci's, and Michael what's his name's...they would have been hard-pressed to beat Chicago....but your point is solid...Rask is better than Niemi, Boucher, or Leighton....conrats to Blackhawks fan....40 years is along time. When your drought approaches 86 years, let me know....

Def the weirdest ending. I thought no one knew where the puck was but I had no idea they scored and just thought there was either a mixup, there was a line change or under the goalies pad and all of a sudden Philly players come to a halt and Blackhawk players start throwing their gear in the air. Once the replay was shown, there was no doubt in Heaven that the puck was in the net and the Blackhawks won the cup, didn't even have to see it twice. Weird how the puck seemed to disappear though, what a soft goal to lose the Stanley Cup on. Weird angle.

Cracked me up. Had no idea why Kane dropped his stick. Thought maybe he was about to pound on one of the Flyers.

Every time I've tried to watch that sport, I can never even see where the fuckin puck is. I can understand the appeal to some people. What I really don't get are the people who hate soccer but love hockey, and I know there's plenty of those here. Someone explain the difference to me. Is it just the physicality?

Puck vs Ball
Grass vs Ice
22players on the field vs 10 players total on ice
goal size slightly bigger in soccer
2 X 45 mins vs 3 X 20 minutes

Thats just the basics for now , son :)

The overwhelming similarity: The game ball/puck spends most of its time being fumbled around the mid-field with an incredible lack of exciting scores/plays, hence the overcompensation of GOALLLLLL or accompanying air horns, sirens etc. when that finally does fuckin happen. ZzzzzzZzzzzz

So you think its more fun when the scores are high, like fuckin basketball, when there is NO excitement as 9 of 10 plays end up in a score and as if that wasnt enough they have to give you 2 points for each "goal" ? whats fun with that? where is the strategy when its the game of The tallest wins ! :P
Or Football, where there is literally more stoppage than game play !!!

Sorry none of us like youre favorite sports Mahjong Tiles and 4 in a row :P

Now Soccer is kinda boring to watch but fun when the world cup is goin on (tomorrow )

I'm no Bruins fan. I only watch them because the local sports channel shows most of their games. And trust me, the drought will approach 86 years if they don't start retaining some of their players. One-way or not, the difference between the Bruins, with and without Kessel respectively, was the #1 seed last year, and almost out of playoff contention this year. Would they have struggled through the injuries if they had that one extra scorer? You saw the historic comeback of the Flyers; I woudn't want to play in the Bruins' defensive scheme either: give up tons of scoring chances and let the goalie bail the team out; quit attacking with the lead and Trap until the lead is gone. That's not good hockey. Giving up leads via the Trap is only philosophically sound if you have an offensive specialist via Phil Kessel who can kick-start the offense again. That's why you keep your role-players, for the times when your starters go down.

But as far as retaining players go, one place where the Bruins can skimp is in the goaltender position. Tim Thomas is expendable because Rask is younger, and put up better numbers, making Thomas a victim of circumstance. Timmy still has a few good years left in him, and I think based on his age and his off-year, it would be real easy for a contending team to make an offer/trade and instantly upgrade their goaltending without giving up too much.
