Glee is so fucking gay, and anyone who watches it is gay. These talentless fucks are taking credit for Journey's music, and a whole generation will think these gay fuckers are the ones who made the songs.

This made me nauseous to listen to. It sounded like the fucking chipmunks singing it.

It has helped moved quite a bit of the Greatest Hits. That album has been a staple on the Billboard 200 album charts over the last half year, not bad at all for something released over 20 years ago. Not quite Dark Side Of The moon but it's gotten over 100 weeks as a ranked album now.

FWIW, I have two kids in middle school who watch Glee (yeah, so do I, they're coming to take my man card now  ). One has picked a few of my old Journey songs out of our iTunes files for his iPod. The other has put ALL my Journey CDs on her iPod, and has even bought a couple of their CDs that I didn't have yet to add to the collection. It ain't all bad.

Oh, and in case anyone is interested:

One of my kids gave me the songs to this. Overall, I am not a fan. But I will say it is a clever mixing of AWYWI and LTS. As far as these things go, it doesn't completely suck. DSB has a lot more punch too. Faithfully - I could not get past the first 10 seconds. That songs needs about 20 years hard road wear from the singer for it to even begin to come across ok. 12 year olds singing it just doesn't make sense at all.

Glee is crap, just like I've said from Day One.

Funny, I was at my step daughter's graduation last night. The school choir did the Glee version of DSB. It was SO bad people were actually trying to stifle laughter.

Glee, please go away.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

We have had this pile of crap forced upon us over here - they all sound like bloody robots.

It's a horrible noise.

I saw that vid which gunbot posted up ages ago of that student who sang DSB and had several clones of himself singing the harmony. Now that was great [for the first few viewings] - but this glee thing sounds like that on every song.

I hate it and it has actually made me not want to hear DSB again for a very long time.

I sure do not know what "Glee" is but I did watch that video and it really stunk hard. Some how the people in the video reminded me of one of those shitty Mentos commercials.

It gets worse!

Last night on Letterman, Kate Hudson, was going ga ga over meeting Bruce Springsteen and had a photo of her singing with him. Dave asked what song they were singing and at first she said "I don't remember" and then kind of timidly said..."it was Journey, ah that "glee thing" Don't Stop Believin."

It is now a "glee thing". Uff da!

Its bloody horrible, Bry. Horrible.

I watched a few Episodes of the show because everyone was making such a fuss about it, but I couldn't stand it.

If they can sing they don't need that effect on their voices.

It was doing my bloody head in, so I stopped watching. Every week was the same story anyway.

We've still got Cowell over here.
Britain's Got Talent just finished.
I wish he'd just retire and go and enjoy his money and his black toilet tissue.

The kids who won weren't singers and were very good at what they do, but most of the Acts he put through make me question his ability to choose real talent.

And that effect wasn't used on any of the contestants who were singing, but it was used by the 'band' [and I use the term 'band' loosely] JLS when they performed while the votes were counted.

JLS competed in last year's X Factor - which is a BIT like American Idol - they didn't win but they have been given a record deal, - and every week they sang all over the place. Way out of tune and it was awful to behold, but..............Cowell signed them, employed that horrible autotune and suddenly they can sing in tune.

BUT they sound like robots.

What a load of bollocks.

My teeny boppers do love Glee. Watch it every week with their uncle too.

They also know Journey, and where the songs came from, same with the songs done that were Queen. When asked they will tell you they like the originals better. They even educate their teeny bopper friends on these things. Never under estimate the tweens.

"There's something quite fitting about "Glee's" love of Journey tunes. Given that in recent years, the classic rock/pop band has been fronted by a Filipino lead singer the group found on YouTube singing the band's best-known hits. At it's best, Journey songs were slick, hook-filled pop tunes, and that's a perfect match for the joyfully peppy exuberance of "Glee."

Peppy?

I don't think it's going to hurt anything as far as new/young fans. If anything, I would expect it to jump sales of Greatest Hits, since the originals of the stuff they sang on Glee is all on there. Dunno. Just a theory.

But as for Glee itself - pure crap. Their performance of Faithfully was painfully unlistenable and their version of DSB isn't all that damn impressive either.

Journey's Greatest Hits has been on the charts since March. We'll have to see If it drops off in the next month or two now that the Glee run is over for awhile.

If some people think that the glee versions of Journey songs are all there is, then they have to remember that it's Journey's songs that are being sung. It's those type of people that are lazy. I feel that, for the most part, that most fans like the Glee versions but want to know more about Journey and their impressive catalog. If it wasn't impressive, then the show producers wouldn't have asked for the rights to do it.

It's incredible

Postby BobbyinTN » Tue Jun 15, 2010 3:08 am

I think exposing these songs to a younger generation and getting them interested in what we all know to be some of the greatest music ever recorded and to hopefully get them out there searching for more music from groups like Journey and writers like Burt Bacharach and the plethora of artists that GLEE is so beautifully representing.

"beautifully representing"?

Maybe if they'd do away with the computerized stuff, but when I hear them sing using that, it just drives me up the wall. Sounds so fake...
I caught the season finale the other night. All the hoopla about Perry I guess...
Anyway, when the one guy started singing the first line of "Faithfully", I about puked. AWFUL. Sounded like an answering machine from the 80s.

Having said that, their arrangements for choir are actually pretty darned cool. It's their overuse of Autotune that ruins. Also, I've seen 3 episodes and to me, the ONLY thing that makes that show watchable is the one gal who's in charge of the cheerleaders. She is hilarious. The rest of the show... what is the big deal??

That clip I watched of the last show didn't sound computerized to me ...it just sounded
as though noone could feel, emote or even sing ... :?
The fact that the songs are being presented to a whole new generation of fans is fantastic ...
I just hope they listen to how it's really supposed to sound ...one day ...when they come
to their senses ...and they will!!

"Coldplay has done a u-turn and allowed the Glee kids to get their mitts on the band’s catalogue.

The British rock band originally turned down a request from producers to have their songs used in the hit show.

But writer-producer Ryan Murphy has told The Hollywood Reporter the band has done a complete turnaround and granted the William McKinley High kids access to the band's entire catalogue.

'At the beginning a lot of people didn't know what we were and asked to see pages [in advance], but I refused because I didn't want to set a precedent of them having any involvement,' Murphy said.

'Coldplay and Bryan Adams were really the only rejections. But Coldplay called a week ago and said, 'We're sorry, you can have our catalogue'.'

So far the Glee cast have managed to revive songs including Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing which soared to number four on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart a year ago."

Here's a solution, if you don't like GLEE, don't watch it and shut the fuck up about it. Continue listening to Rush Limbaugh and Larry the Cable Guy and make sure you NEVER think for yourself.

How about this, if you don't like what we're saying, don't read it. Ill leave out the language, however, this is what this place happens to be for, discussion. I don't listen to either of those people and have no idea what the point was in mentioning them. Glee Sucks and they are ruining some of my favorite music so I'll say it as long as they keep doing it. This does happen to be America.
