How about this, if you don't like what we're saying, don't read it. Ill leave out the language, however, this is what this place happens to be for, discussion. I don't listen to either of those people and have no idea what the point was in mentioning them. Glee Sucks and they are ruining some of my favorite music so I'll say it as long as they keep doing it. This does happen to be America.

Happy to see that I am not the ONLY on around here with strong opinions!

I feel the exact same way about a certain set of re-treads!

I actually don't care for them either, no one can sing them better than SP. Although, I do like the energy Arnel brings to OTY.

What does Rush Limbaugh (douche/windbag) have to do with any of this? This was NOT a PRO Glee thread. It was just a thread. I'll say it again, for a show about singers to rely so much on computer-altered vocals is laughable. If you like it, goody for you. Am I slamming YOU because you like it? No, I'm slamming the synthetic vocals on the show. Which is actually pretty strange. Didn't the one gal on their work the "Wicked" show for years? I'd think she'd have no part of it.

Reading this thread for the first time, Cher did come to mind, but I couldn't find any of her singing a Journey tune, would have loved to though, but I did find that remix shit sandwich instead.

I am lmao, Bobby!! High~five!!
But we are thinking for ourselves ...some like it, some don't ...I don't!!
I love heartfelt emotional vocals, I want to feel the song!!
If I just wanted to hear words being sung, badly ...I can do that!!
When I listen to you sing, I feeeeellll it!!

You're always a sweetheart!! I watched the Tony's the other night (surprised? LOL) and the actor that plays the teacher and the darked haird girl, Lea Michelle both sang live and they were incredible. Yes, some of it is way too tuned, but a lot of it is so good.

I don't knock people for having opinions, but I just hate it when folks say "it sucks" or "they can't sing" or stuff like that because it's so subjective and you have to admit, most of the time some folks on here seem like they live to put others down.

I hear some of the auto-tuning, especially with actors who aren't great singers, but Lea Michelle doesn't need auto tuned and it's rare they use it on her.

But here's something to think about. They are churning out 22 shows a season. Each show has anywhere from 3 to 8 songs in it. Not only are the actors learning lines they also have to memorize lyrics, melodies, dance moves, blocking and many other things, the auto tune is just a convenient way to get the songs done quickly with the best possible sound. For me, it's no big deal because I love the show and there is a suspension of disbelief you have to rely on while watching it. The stories are really good and go much deeper than most folks are understanding. I think it's wrong to judge something you haven't watched from the beginning.

I've watched enough of it to know what they're doing. They do use AT on that dark haired gal. They shouldn't. She can hold her own. I BELIEVE I saw her in Wicked a few years ago in Seattle. If she was the one doing the Elfaba part, she actually cracked in the show. Felt really bad for her as it was at a very quiet moment in the show. Other than that, she was great and the show was decent. I'm glad you like Glee. I just can't get past the AT stuff. It's the same with the radio. I can't listen very long these days because every artist uses it.

If you can't sing on pitch, you shouldn't be singing for your profession. The producers of the show really need to ratchet it back a bit. It's like nails on a blackboard to me. If you like it, great. I don't and I'm entitled to my opinion just as you are. :)

but think back in your HS days... this is what Choir was! Most of the time it wasnt amazing...and the show is just a show... just saying... their singing is only perfect in their minds... and the kids all think they were better than they were... in a high school choir... thats why the show is fun to watch... and why Jane Lynch is such a great character...love the name Sue Sylvester... everyone knows its not great... and its not REAL!! its a fictional high school...you are all taking what its about WAY TOO SERIOUS...

No one sings on pitch 100% of the time. Auto Tune, when used correctly, is a useful tool. No, it shouldn’t take the place of a vocal performance, but it has its uses.

I don’t think Lea Michelle was ever in a production of WICKED. She did the play Spring Awakening on Broadway, but has done little else.

And honestly, singer’s voices crack. It irritates me when people believe a singer can’t have an off day or has to be perfect every time you hear them. Party of the greatness of being a singer is embracing the voice and all its nuances.

And yes, opinons are wonderful things and I don't begrudge you for yours.

I thought the mash-up of ANY WAY YOU WANT IT and LOVIN', TOUCHIN', SQUEEZIN' was pretty cool.

Interesting trivia about LOVIN', TOUCHIN', SQUEEZIN': My first band did it at the Mid-South Talent Competition back in '86 and we won the band category. We beat, TORA, TORA. They went on to get a record contract, we got a trophy. LOL

Because some don't like your show, you're falling all over YOURSELFS (it's "yourselves", btw), and slinging insults at those who don't agree with you. Kind of the kettle calling the pot black there... I never slammed anybody, just don't dig the show. Big deal.

The thread's a discussion of said show. The show is for kids script-wise. I could care less about it and I do not watch it much. I DO take exception to the fact that autotune is way overused on the show and they're getting rich off it and basically a show about singers is embracing that. I hate that stuff and just hate to see it thriving in the music business, especially in a show about choirs. If I was a sportsfreak, I'd be bent out of shape about the use of performance enhancing in sports. Glee is closer to what I'm passionate about, so those performance enhancers bug me more than a bit. However, it's a STORY ABOUT SINGERS so, that puts that into a bit of perspective.

Yeah, yer right the gal wasn't in Wicked. My bad. I had heard she was. Yes, voices do crack and it's part of being live. And whether the Glee stars can sing on pitch, guess we'll never know...

Whatever- If I don't like the show, I won't watch it (already don't), but I can certainly comment on why I don't like it.

:-)

She will, however, play the lead role in an upcoming 3D movie called Dorothy of Oz to be released in 2012.

They make all of them sound like robots.

No need for it when they have a good voice to start with.

"The Show is for kids script-wise"--That misinformation negates everything else you claim and proves you haven't watched it. Do what you like, but stop making prouncements that make absolutley no sense. No one cares if you like it or not, just that you want to put others down who do like it.

The show sells to who it's supposed to. Miley Cyrus, The Duff Girls, The Jonas Brothers all share some of this fan base. The cast deserves every penny they get. They are putting out a product that is being consumed, why shouldn't they get paid? If anyone thinks this is insult to the legacy of the band, they need to remember who gave the show the ability to do these covers. The permissions given for song usage need to be unanimous, no one co-writer can grant it with out the others consent. Schon and Perry both have indicated they are pleased with the success that this has created in terms of Journey's music being recognized. They could have taken the Bryan Adams route and said no but they didn't.
As it's their music and they agreed to it unanimously, that's all that really matters. Second only to granting the Sopranos license, this is the greatest decision Perry, Schon and Cain have made in the last ten years. Not only are they being bombarded with licensing requests for their music, which isn't constrained by copyright royalty rates and range in the tens of thousands of dollars per license, they also will get paid when these shows go in to syndication, are released on DVD, etc. For the the three primary songwriters of Journey, this is a financial renaissance beyond anything they could have imagined compared to the relevance of their back catalog a decade ago. Money DOES make the world go around and these three guys are definitely enjoying that midnight train ride right now.
Funny how they can still maintain enough of a partnership through these licensing agreements. The success of these legacy tunes will always legitimize Perry as a silent partner within the Journey corporation, regardless of how estranged the relationship between Steve and Neal appears.
