:P

No shit. Complaining about the officiating is the most annoying and disgusting thing one can do in sports, especially if you lose. Aside from the '72 Olympics, when the US got hosed and the Soviets won, you should never ever complain about the officiating.

I was just thinking about this today... after reading that the US soccer team felt like a goal was taken away from them...
I love watching the HBO series about that whole olympics...

Yeah, someone try to tell me that the referee didn't single handedly cost the United States a victory and a spot in the second round today.

Four set pieces, four phantom offensive foul calls. A yellow card on an inadvertent handball off the face that wasn't even a handball. A 100% absolute fair goal, stolen away by a referee who was CLEARLY on the take. He needs to be investigated, and if found guilty, fined and jailed. What a horrendous and inexcuseable performance.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

Isn't it just safe to say the obvious that professional sports, or any other kind of sport.. has the fortunate ruling of officiating having that human element of the game? These games are so unbelievably fast that it's almost sick that some of the calls that ARE made correct during the coarse of a high speed game with continuous motion.

Some sports with technology are trying to erase the human error or human side of pro sports, but atleast it's what these games are meant to be, and that's have the human element of the eye and make judgmental calls due to expertise and training of one referee.

I mean, it's all fine and FAIR when your team wins, but as soon as something doesn't go the way you like, like a loss, it's time to relentlessly blame the ref's for not doing their job, thus costing your team the game. That's part of it, so lets deal with it instead of crying constantly to the point where it's unbearable to read anymore.

This was not a subjective call. There was simply nothing whatsoever. This was not a matter of interpretation.

Soccer referees are on the take more than any other officials in any other sport. Almost every major European, South American, and African league has been plagued by referee cheating (bribery) scandals in the past decade.

This is a different story.

Officiating was solid? Whatever.

Gasol is a 7' soccer player...throws his hands up, lame-ass grimace on his face...begging for fouls...travels every time he makes a low post move. His pivot foot changes 8 times during the possession.
And he should've been cited for charging, handcuffed and thrown in the slammer ...awful!!
That said the game was all about defense ...and I missed the first three quarters

Congrats Lakers fans ...that would be you, 78!!!

 MG, you're my favorite poster...but, you just lost some points with me there, girl.
Lakers, Dodgers....hate them with a passion!!!! They DO NOT need to win any more championships...give NoCal teams (and their long frustrated fans) an inferiority complex.
Still luv-ya though.

lol ...be gentle, Annie ...I don't like the Lakers and I wasn't rooting for the Lakers. I do Like 78, though and
I am just a good sport!! :D  That said, some of my favorite players, ever, played for the Lakers and as a huge
fan of the NBA, I do appreciate the talent the Laker Team has displayed over the years. I'm a Pistons girl and when they
are crap, as they are now, and JoeD acts like he's never in his life put together a championship team,
I cheer for the Eastern Conference!! The exception to my rule, would've been if the Nuggets had made it
in and then I would've cheered for Chaunc. I do love this Boston Team, though ...pure class!! Love Back!!

Yes, the Lakers get all the great players, it's almost unfair -- I go way back to the Elgin Baylor-Jerry West days to "too many to count" since then. Meanwhile, the Warriors went from the Philadelphia-Wilt Chamberlain days to S.F.(Golden State) and became perennial also-rans (just the 1 year when Rick Barry took them to the championship).

And…don’t get me started on the Giants! They’ve been in S.F. since 1958…had a number of superstars, but only a few WS appearances and NO championship trophy yet. Compare to the Dodgers…not sure the exact number…5 or 6 at least.
