Steve called me a couple of months back and sounded as upbeat and thrilled about his music as ever.

His music is not Journey music..

Beg to differ.....the Journey music I hear on the radio (now daily) is Perry fronted. He seems to be one of the people
who decided where and when the songs are used...so I think that makes it his music.

He could be talking about his new music that was my point.

I'd bet a ton that Perry thinks of Journey as 'his music'...and 'his music' has fresh legs. Couldn't it be said that Schon & Cain think the same? No doubt they're all thrilled...perhaps even Rolie & HH, no?

Point is, Azoff is a master. He knows that to perpetuate this, classic Journey (the band) has to reunite. And think about it. This doesn't mean 'new album' & 'monster tour' right away. Just leak little quotes and start rumors. Then do some odd cameos, and even some small studio work. Just keep the pot stirred. If something big happens, then great. Even if not, then just work on keeping the music out there...however so.

I think the Lefsetz article says that all it takes is some odd happening to make it so. And yes, rest assured, it will happen. The Journey music machine is so much bigger than the sum of its parts.

Here's food for thought. The Eagles always said "when hell freezes over", and they did it. Thing is, it's more of a job. They don't travel together. They all have seperate lives, and they only get together at show time. Even if the classic Journey band doesn't get along, they can still get on stage and make the magic for a couple hours every so often. They don't have to live together on the road to make this a big deal. I can't honestly say that Journey is as big as The Eagles, or The Rolling Stones, etc., but I do think it's a lot about money-to-be-made. If they did a few shows, not live together on the road, but just did a few shows, then everyone would see how easy this is to make happen. Give it a year or so, then we'd see some new classic Journey music. They'd get the studio itch, and there'd be fans come outta the woodwork to demand it...to which, the band would respond. No doubt.

As much as I'd personally LOVE to see a reunion happen, I'm not sure it would be the celebration some of us would like to hope it would be. Sure, it'd be huge to us die-hards, but given that Journey has continued on the road with now 3 lead singers since SP, they might not have the draw that they would've had if they hadn't continued on without SP. Neither the Eagles or the Stones did that, did they? Maybe I'm wrong, I don't really follow either of those bands too much.

As I read thru all these posts I can't help but remember what BOSTON did when they toured with 2 lead singers who complimented each other very well....

The great BRAD DELP who admitted on stage that he needed a little help with the higher notes and FRAN COSMO filled that gap quite nicely!

Steve's obviously talking about Glee Music. He was on the set of the show, being introduced to the cast as Steve Perry Of Journey. The producer was very vocal about how excited everyone was to meet him and how the last show was going to be a tribute to him and Journey. SP was thrilled by it's usage and acceptance by the younger fans.
Remember what Cain quoted Perry as saying the biggest thrill of making music is hearing it being played on the radio? This has got be such a great feeling for him right now. The number one album in the land right now has his names on the credits and his names in the reviews. That's got to be a major rush for someone who has been on the sidelines for the last decade or more. I think Steve can appreciate that these aren't just re-records done by a sound alike singer but actually a new way of promoting the music that is fresh and different. Finally, despite all the drama over the last few years and the carousel of vocalists and hard luck stories, the attention on Journey is back to being all about the music, as it should be.

I'm going to have to cry here ...this is beautiful!!! I don't like the music the way it's being sung, but yeah, if I were
the writer of the songs ...you are right, of course!!

It seems it's coming back full circle.

My kids were in the car today singing along to DSB and AWYWI.....it's a beautiful thing!

Totally and completely agree. BTW, Heart has a new rockin' album coming out in late August called RED VELVET CAR. Heard a couple of trax and they were awesome.
