tut tut tut - you ARE behind the times! SG has confessed to a severe mancrush on Steve Perry several times, and he worked out ages ago that confessing to a love of Journey's more mellow, romantic songs gets him a lot of attention from the ladies.

That song meant a great deal to me right after my divorce. Dan came to check on me about a month later. We had always been friends, and a few christmas cards and phone calls. But he was my rock at that time. He flew down here, got a hotel and visited with me during the day. At the end of the week he got the nerve up to ask me if he could start dating me. He flew every chance he got, took his vacation times, and came to see me. We dated for two years like that. If that isn't love I don't know what is.

My ex broke my heart to bits, Dan mended it, and made me beleive again.

I know, sappy............It is a beautiful song. :D

Myself, I love the incredible, "soul-baring", emotional cry of "Open Arms".

I mean, when a man can break down all emotional barriers and proclaim his unending love for his woman, that says alot. The line in the song where SP sings, "lying beside you, here in the dark...feeling your heart beat with mine"...that touches me on so many levels as it talks of the unspoken "connection" between a man and woman. No words need to be spoken. Only looks...glances.

I was partying with my homies when that song came on. Needless to say, there was nary a "dry eye" in da house!

Dude, you actually play Journey songs at your party? That takes balls dude. Especially TBF songs. That song is a poppy slush song. You must be high. I know that song didn't come on the radio. It never got a single play on radio.

I've been to frat partys in Gainesville during football season and Journey was played...and I mean in the last couple years, not just my time at school.....very often in fact. Lots of classic rock bands were played.

Yup - kids play the stuff they grew up with just as much as the current stuff. Same when we were kids - the parties I went to in high school and Uni (the first time round) were blasting out the Doors, the Stones, Hendrix, Zepplin, early Sabbath and AC-DC, Cold Chisel, Masters Apprentices, the Beatles, Santana, Deep Purple - all the stuff our parents listened to when we were little. Good music stays with you for life; that's never going to change.

So true! When I was in high school my dad DJ'd a dance (my dad is AWESOME and all the kids in school liked him...more than me! ) and he thought he was being a smartass by playing some 50's and 60's music-after about two songs everyone was dancing and having a good time, he played some more contemporary stuff and everyone complained and requested the oldies so the rest of the night he played the oldies-it was the FUNNEST dance we ever had!!!!
