Everything Old Is New Again

You know if you like something long enough, it comes back again. I've always loved the blues and was really intrigued when I heard that Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers just released Mojo a blues inspired album and Cindi Lauper released Memphis Blues.

I was disappointed by the Heartbreakers effort, Tom just doesn't have the right voice to sing the blues IMO. But Cindi rocks!

Here is Cindy & Jonny Lang doing a kick ass version of Crossroads.

Thanks for the quick review...I was wondering about both new releases. I saw Cindi live in 2004 and she does rock!

Last time I saw Cindy she was opening for Tina Turner. Cindy was about 7-8 mos pregnant and she comes out wearing a purple skin tight cat suit! What a concert that was! 8).

Let's be honest here Fay...Petty is a poor man's Springsteen, trying to manipulate an already paying audience of who knows what?. Petty is neither blues or soul....he is a pop/rock guy. Nothing wrong with that, but he isn't special, IMO.

Yeah, I agree with your opinion...Petty doesn't come close to Springsteen in songwriting or deliverance. Bruce has Petty beat hands down, but some of his prior stuff is good. I wouldn't praise Petty by any means though

I remember the Heartbreakers' last effort, The Last DJ, being pretty bland. I was holding out for a comeback, but Mojo sounds more like the Petty side project, Mudcrutch, than a proper return to form. Pass.

That's right, the long fake eyelashes are back in style again with all the rest of the 70's look, in Japan right now. Hardly any Japanese women have black hair anymore. It's all medium to light brown and very waivy. 70's all over again over there right now.
