MuchMusic Awards.........

Postby Deb » Wed Jun 23, 2010 11:45 am

 My daughter made me watch the Muchmusic awards sunday night. MuchMusic is Canada's version of MTV and MuchMoreMusic is Canada's version of VH1 (for us older farts) MuchMusic awards are like the MTV awards.........well except the fact that nobody has ever lipsynced on the MMA's, it's usually held outside and covers a few city blocks.

So glad my daughter likes all kinds of rock, pop, etc. Not just this pop stuff. Thoughts?

Miley Cyrus (everybody is trying to be Lady Gaga now  ) but she is only 17 and look at what she is wearing in both performances, what the hell is Billy Rae thinking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkxBR6wl_Ig and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxwZgjz_VYs

Katy Perry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvfwBJ4kWtA Cute song, I don't mind her.

Adam Lambert http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeIDjR8VeJo  Still love the song, but the guy's going all flock of seagulls. Dude needs to tone it down.

Won't even bore you with the Kesha and Justin Beiber clips.

I meant his hair. But now that I see it again, if you look at his guitarist too, they're probably closer to the 80s Brett Michaels and CC Deville.

When did VH1 become the channel for "older farts"? :? If that's the case, where's the award shows for us older farts? Cause I'm so tired of these new artists that are considered "cool" - Whether in Canada or elsewhere in the world, all award shows are the same these days...I'm so tired of the saturation of these same names that all appeal to the teen scene  Exception is Adam Lambert, and Lady GaGa which has actually grown on me after some good tunes in "Speechless" and "Bad Romance"

Fully agree with your post. Adam and Gaga have talent/vocals to back it up........I don't get the Kesha draw at all either, heard that song of hers called Blah Blah Blah and thought it was THE stupidest song I've ever heard come out of the radio.

Oh yes, Kesha is a complete waste of airtime...and did I mention I turn the radio dial everytime I hear Taylor Swift come on, which is constantly

Deb- Thanks for the P M on MMA's . Did you notice Allison in the MTV video and KeSha ( his make-out partner). He is also featured on VH-! Posted this month. I think the site is VH-1 Posted/Adam Lambert.com.

Taylor Swift is a sweetheart, and a talented young lady. She writes a lot of her own stuff, and sings from the heart, with no studio help. How can anyone dislike Swift?

Taylor Swift has it all....but you are delusional if you think she does not get vocal help on record. Or is it that she can only sing in the studio but not live? She gets auto-tuning help live and whenever I have seen her appear for special performances like (was it) the AMA's with Stevie Nicks she has been terrible. But honestly, I like her. She is by far a better role model to our young girls and she has a lot of talent!

I think she is doing everything right. Keeps ticket prices down, stayed for 15 hours after the CMAs to sign autographs and hang out with her fans, writes a majority of her material, has a positive self-image. Worthy, for sure!

Agree, Dave. She is a talented song writer, seems sweet and definitely a more positive roll model than some of the, for lack of a better word, skanks, passing as teen singers. Saying that, her voice (live or studio) does nothing for me. Most times I'll turn it off or to something else. I just don't hear any soul ( a requirement in my book of vocals) and find her voice very, very monotone.

She's too busy trying to shed the Hannah Montana/Disney Channel image that everyone has of her. Similarily the way Hillary Duff did some years back, and pretty unsuccessfully I might add, though I don't believe she was ever as popular as Miley Cyrus, but a Disney Channel darling nonetheless. Nobody would care if this was the first time they saw her, and there'd be no "OMG, Miley's trying to be Lady Gaga" comments. No different then Britney Spears being half naked at the same age either. It is what it is.

Taylor Swift, definitely has talent, sometimes there's just too much of her in the marketplace or on the radio and it gets annoying. But, in music these days, you better captialize on your 15 minutes of fame, because it may be gone that quick.

The thing about Taylor Swift is that her vocals for all live performances I've seen have just been terrible! So yes she's a sweetheart, but still vocally unimpressive. I don't dislike Swift as a person, but just the oversaturation of her in the last year.

If you liked Allison Iraheta on AI, her CD is worth a listen...there are some pretty good tracks like "Scars" "Trouble Is" & "Holiday" - Her voice has a real nice raspy rock sound.

I respect that Taylor Swift writes and plays her own songs but I hate her stuff. She writes songs that sound like high school diary entries. I can't wait until she grows out of that.

I think Taylor Swift is a sweet girl and a much better role model for her fans than Miley or any of the other tween queens that grew into sluts like Britney Spears. That said, I can't stand Taylor's voice or music. It sounds like adolescent rambling through a nasally voice in an almost monotone range.
