Larry King~Hangin' Up His Suspenders :(

I'll miss him ...hope all is well with the family. He said he was going
to spend time going to little league games. This is all I could find ...

Let the hunt for a successor begin continue.

Larry King Live's stalwart host said Tuesday that he plans to end his 25-year run after this summer.

"Now, decades later, I talked to the guys here at CNN and I told them I would like to end Larry King Live, the nightly show, this fall and CNN has graciously accepted, giving me more time for my wife and I to get to the kids' little league games," he said in a statement on CNN.com.

The 76-year-old subject-spanning interviewer says that he'll still be involved with CNN, hosting specials on "major national and international subjects."

"I'm incredibly proud that we recently made the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest running show with the same host in the same time slot. With this chapter closing I'm looking forward to the future and what my next chapter will bring, but for now it's time to hang up my nightly suspenders."

King recently made headlines himself by filing for divorce from his seventh wife, Shawn. The couple have since reconciled, though it's anyone's guess as to what's really going behind closed doors.

Among others, Ryan Seacrest's name has been bandied about as a possible successor to King because he occasionally fills in as guest host, but it's unclear whether CNN will choose to keep the same type of show during its coveted 9 p.m. time slot. Larry King Live has slipped in the cable news ratings lately behind The Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC and Hannity on Fox News.

dont have a clue... no one can replace him... Trying to think of someone who could do an hour of interviews with about anyone... from political leaders to entertainment, to lawyers talking about the next big case to current events that shape us...throw question after question... with out being too emotionally involved with it... Ryan would be good at it... but he is annoying... maybe Harry Smith??? CBS... Matt Lauer from Today show??? someone along those lines...

Say what you will about Larry, he had a wide varitety of guests, and the hour format for most interviews was very nice. The only one I can think of that is so likeable but can cover a wide variety of topics ranging from political to newstories to celebrities would be Matt Lauer, off the top of my head. But he has a huge contract with NBC, so that's not an option, and his plate is full anyway.

I wish Katie would take it. But, I guess, she's solid now with CBS News. She seems to have settled in.

Apparently being wealthy and a celebrity has some aphrodisiac effect.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

God, you don't mean Ryan Seacrest do you? Puke.

Bill Clinton would be a great replacement. There was talk of him doing his own show...maybe this would be a good fit? Jon Stewart? I am guessing he would leave the late night circuit in favour of huge jack and a 6PM slot on CNN.

One rumour is that it will be Joy Behar, in which case I'll watch the show just as often as I have in the past... ;)

Imagine having a stunning much younger wife at that age and you're banging her hot sister. At least, his wife accused him of it. He must have something that draws the ladies. Oh, yeah, money.

Thank God this guy's going away. IDIOT.

I remember when he was talking to Paul and Ringo "have you talked to John lately?"

dumbass

If it was Steve and Edie, it was just a zany, wacky interview. If it was anyone else, the guy was lost. Could never stand him.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.
