It has everything to do with you now that you have the knowledge of what kind of person he is. If Hitler were an actor, and a good one, would that change you opinion of him? Would you think he had a right to be as evil and hateful as he wanted as long as he didn't protray it in a movie?

When a person supports racism it gives racism power and other simple minds will believe, and trust me, this is gonna happen with racists everywhere, that if you support Mel, you support his kind of racism. He'll be the poster boy for the KKK and the Skinheads in 3, 2, 1...

The only difference between Mel and Joe schmoe down the street is you know what Mel said. This stuff is said every minute of every day...by people in YOUR life. You just don't hear it...because most people can control it in public....why is this concept so fucking hard to grasp?

You need to get some new friends, dude. I have never, ever heard something like that said by people in MY life. You're talking like it's a fact, which it's not.
you don't live in America. You know, the place with a huge mix of cultures that came here in boat loads in the early 1900's.....when prejudice and racism were at their peak. Signs stating "help needed, Irish need not apply" as well as many other things between the European cultures once they arrived here. Every nationality felt they were treated the worst. My italian grandfather would tell me stories of how they were treated the worst so they hated germans, Irish and poles and more! Racism did not start in our generation. It's been around for centuries. And many are guilty. We are talking only a couple of generations ago. You really have no clue. Don't tell me there is no prejudice between your European countries over there, or for the people who immigrate to your countries. I know that would be a lie!!!

Look at one of my earlier post. Jesus, Lynn. I said that the racism in Africa and Europe is a lot worse than the stuff you got in the states. I've been to the US 8 or 9 times, how many times you been to Europe again? (Remember: It's not a country, it's a continent).

I still would never be friends with someone who said something like Mel did. I'd shove my fist down his throat. Racists are a bunch of pussies.

Exactly! A bunch of developmentally arrested zombies who will never be any more than what they were when they were 12 or 13.

I can tell you this,, If Mel Gibson wouldve killed a few hundred Jews , I doubt it that he would have had the same success with BraveHeart or any other movies he directed......

I simply wouldn't be around a family member like that either. I'm lucky and was never raised with the n-word and was taught at an early age how to respect everyone, not just the people who looked like me or acted like me. My parents get all the credit for that and the greatest gift I can give to them is carry on their values where race and tolerance is concerned.

My sister's husband did send me a racist joke a few years ago. I told him point blank, don't ever do that again, I don't find them funny, and I don't want any part of 'em. He couldn't share them with my sister either, because she felt the same way. He doesn't send those jokes anymore to anyone related to me.

So now you're comparing him to Hitler? Good lord Bobby! And now he's going to campaign for the KKK??? Looks like you've got his career all planned out for him. Are you telling me that in your ENTIRE life, you've never said anything stupid or hateful in a fit of rage that you regret? Put your own life under the microscope for a second... now imagine that if every little tantrum you've ever had was broadcast for the entire world to hear... Would you have any regrets?

That's what it would be like. Was he wrong? Yep! Was it an extremely ignorant thing to say? Hell yeah. Just look in the mirror before you start throwing rocks. That goes for everyone here. We're all human, and we all make mistakes. The difference is that people love to get dirt on a celebrity! It feels good to pile on top of someone when they're down or they make a mistake.

He's racist enough for me that I'll never support anything he does again. Honestly, I stopped watching his movies when his last little tirade when public. If actors are homophobes, racists, misogynists or animal abusers or hate old people, they should hide those things very carefully if they ever want to be viewed in roles that dipict them as something other than who they are.

Mel built a church on his own property for God's sake. That's alone says he's fucked in the head.

That a man builds his own church doesn't seem a little wacky to you? And it's not tolerant, it's judgemental, but then again, the Christian attitude Mel serves up is reason enough to know how he truly feels and a good reason to judge his lying, racist ass.

When a person supports racism it gives racism power and other simple minds will believe, and trust me, this is gonna happen with racists everywhere, that if you support Mel, you support his kind of racism. He'll be the poster boy for the KKK and the Skinheads in 3, 2, 1...

Just my $.02 Carry on...

Jim, you might find this hard to believe, but I've NEVER in my 44 years called a person a "nigger". I've never resorted to any kind of insult that would reflect on a person's color, ethnicty, or had anything to do with who they are. Now, I've called plenty of people idiots and stuipd and backwards, but that spans the color spectrum and I never have to resort to the lowest common denominator.

And I would never talk to a person I claimed to love the way he talked to her either, I can't, it's something I just would never do and that alone should give everyone a reason to boycott his ass forever.

He has issues and major demons. We all have dark sides to us. His just seem a lot darker with or without alcohol. Will I boycott his movies because of a prinicple? No. But I probably won't see another movie of his b/c I now won't believe his character. This will be in my mind, so doubt I will have much interest. And he's such an angry man, I doubt he will be believable for a comedy for me either. I kind of think his career is over anyway for the most part. But if he made some brilliant movie, directing or acting, that got great reviews, I would see it.

Feel sorry for the children starving in Africa. Don't waste your pity on people that are morally defective. That said, I'll still watch his movies. Robert Blake got away murder, doesn't mean I can't enjoy an episode of Baretta once in awhile.

That's so true. I'm sure his long-suffering wife has tried to help him. He, at the ripe age of 55 or whatever he is, has chosen to not grow or mature and the crazy and anger is getting worse. I don't feel sorry for him b/c he has chosen not to help himself. You can't blame alcohol on his thought process re women, blacks, Jews. Though, I'm sure at times, if he's drinking, it comes out more. Nothing to suggest here he was drinking anyway.

Well sorry for loving grandpa despite his flaws from his life experience :(

Do you really want to know or care what is in the hearts of people who have a job of acting for our entertainment? I can go to the diner down the road and hear 5 racist things out of customers mouths right now. Should I boycott the diner? People are people. Mel is not the only racist in Hollywood. He just gets drunk and doesn't filter himself.

Sounds a bit intolerant there, Bobby...

That a man builds his own church doesn't seem a little wacky to you? And it's not tolerant, it's judgemental, but then again, the Christian attitude Mel serves up is reason enough to know how he truly feels and a good reason to judge his lying, racist ass.

So define intolerance then, as opposed to judgemental, and why one is ok and the other EVIL...

Look it up man!

Rather stick my own head up my ass than someone elses cock,
Get a clue,, the anti-hatred propaganda that youre spewing is part of the reasons there is hatred in the world .... If we had to boycott every actor/actress or any celebrity because of their personal opinions and views, then we would have to ban them all cause guess what, theyre all human beings and none are saints,,, except for Saint John.,...

Anyone can bulid anything on their property they wish to build. He can say anything he wishes to say. I'm tolerant of both those actions.

I judge them when they do such things and classify them accordingly. And IMHO, when people speak in public or get exposed for the assholes they are, they deserve everything they get. That's tolerance at it's best.
