not getting into if I would vote for him or not... but feel he is sincere in wanting to save the music...and doing this
for the big picture and not to get himself on the news... plus he has kids in high school age now right... so this is
a huge deal for him being a parent.

Now I can see where all his killer emotion-filled songs came from. Between Jon's loss at the age of 8 and Steve's loss of his father at the age of 10 - they had the chemistry to produces some really emotional ballads.

Having said that though, fuck music and arts. Jon Cain did NOT need music in the public schools. He's a natural. Did Neal need music in the classroom, I think not - the man hardly went to school. These rock/music education commercials make me puke. Most of the performers today, do not have formal training and can't even read music. It is truly a natural talent, same thing with art. Music in the schools had nothing to do with their success. I highly doubt learning "Hot Cross Buns" on a flute made them rock stars.

Also, if his school did not burn down, would he be up there advocating for this? No. Another thing, he didn't move because he couldn't step inside the new school, he moved just like all the other families did - white flight as the neighborhood changed. He would've moved even if the school didn't burn down. He had no choice, Tyrone made that decision for him and his family.

As far as the argument goes, students do better in school with music is bullshit. They're band geeks. They're the nerds of the school. If it wasn't music, it would be something else and the dorks would still get the good grades.

Finally, unfortunately, judging by his views on this topic and other things in the past, I would say Mr. Cain is probably to the left...which disappoints. I figured he was a democrat but a blue collar-Reagan Democrat, which would be ok. Now, I think Hollywood got a hold of him and he's too far to the left. So, though I think he's a good person and I respect him (and could probably work with him in a bi-partisan fashion on certain issues), I would NOT vote for him. Sorry Jon.

Jon is a very nice man. He is a kind hearted man and that to me is the essence of a great man. I am glad he isn't too hung up to show his true emotions. I have great respect for him and his family. He is one of the few people in the limelight that I find to be down to earth when I met him. I can spot a phony right away. He came accross as kind and sincere.

I don't care who disagrees with me here. I cannot say enough good things about the man. The story was touching, and I could tell he meant what he said. I learned to read people very well. God bless him and his wife and children. And condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the fire.

Our schools desperately need the arts. The arts help children who go through great tribulation as children find a way to deal with the pain or loneliness. I never had an art teacher or band at my school. I drew and had no guidence, and when I went to college the first time I was so behind the other students in learning. God bless my college art teachers who nurtured and helped me grow as an artist. God bless the musicians who fight so children will have a chance to experiance music and art in our schools. Sure he's a doll. And I'm sure he has his other sides, too. Doesn't everybody? Steve Perry is a doll but he treated young Stu like crap. Most band members on tour dread the meet and greet concert after concert. Roland Orzabal barely smiles for a photo, but he sings amazing. I've seen Jon in a great mood before and laughing a lot. Plus, he has an amazing upper body/great arms even for a 40-something-year-old,much less his age. Oh, sorry, I got off topic.
