I'm fine if "everyone" is moving out of California. Less demand for everything here!

BUT, you'll lose electoral votes!!!!!!!!!

Educate yourself on the issue Rick. I don't care if it's one state or 30 states or 50 states, the Federal Gov't is solely responsible for border enforcement, not the individual states.

I do see the argument that AZ would want to protect itself, and that if the Feds won't do their job of enforcement, then AZ will. Yet it is still the Feds responsibility. This AZ law will be overturned, bank on it, even with the 5-4 majority in the Supreme Court if we ever get that far.

Dean, John and Ken had the guy who wrote the bill on the radio the other day and he says there is no way for it to be over turned because the issue has already been decided many times in the courts. Apparently they have always upheld over the years that States have the right to pass this kind of law and that they work with the Feds in enforcing all the time. He seemed to be pretty confident.

You really think Holder would challenge this if he didn't think he had an outstanding shot at defeating it? No way does this bill stand. By the way, was the guy in question Kris Kobach? If so, the guy is co author of the bill and is an ex Bushie worker. What you expect the guy to say? "I hope it stands?" Come on 78.

What you want to wager? You win, I will buy you Journey tickets and if I win, you buy me Springsteen tickets. Deal?

How about you buy me Springsteen and Ill buy Journey?

Seriously though, it seems to me that Obama should be focusing on other issues like unemployment, especially since there were already suits filed.

i imagine 'racial profiling' will be the next basis of a suit challenging the law if it goes into effect in a few weeks. the federal government makes immigration policy, not states, which i believe is the basis of holder's argument. funny that when bush called for comprehensive immigration reform his republican party blocked him.

Bush wasn't serious about wanting reform he knew his party would block it because the rethugs are owned by the same people who own the corporations that hire most of the illegals.

I'm with Arizona on this though. They wouldn't have had to enact a state law to protect their citizens if the feds had been enforcing the federal law that they already had.

Too many people are looking at this as the big bad cops swooping in and hassling poor, innocent hispanics who are only trying to make a decent living. I can guaran-damn-tee you that at least 75% of them are not only here illegally, they're engaged in other illegal activities while they're here, namely drugs and guns. The other 25% should have gotten their citizenship so they wouldn't have to worry about the law.

Problem is the feds aren't doing shit and have summarily failed miserably, leaving AZ no choice but to take the bull by the horns and get it handled. Now the feds want to intervene? Fuck em!
I blame this situation squarely on liberal politics and corrupt lobbying.

yeah cuz the bush team was so liberal. i know the feds have dropped the ball on immigration, but it still does not take away the authority. if anything good can come of the az law it will make the whole nation realize the need for reform. you can't blame this on liberals

Fault lies on several admisitrations, but AZ is doing this right. It has to stop and, more importantly, be brought to the forefront.

This year. I am willing to wager that on the average of 9 out of every ten years, California is number one, easily. Even this new stat tells you something. As bad as we are right now, people are still coming here.

I'm having a hard time deciding between Cleveland and Laguna Beach for my next move.

Seriously, I would move there in a heartbeat if my wife was down with it.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

Why is it we can ask someone if they're here legally or not on a job application, but it's such a horrible thing to ask of them if they're being stopped by police in the act of breaking the law (potentially)? :?

Anybody else remember hall monitors in school?
