Actually, I'm basing my opinion of Mel on his bizarre behavior on tapes. There's no explaining away such bizarre and frightening behavior. He is a sick individual mentally. He has stated in interviews that in the 90s he was a morally and spiritually bankrupt individual and an alcoholic. This decade isn't looking much better for him. He has serious problems and needs to address them. Many people would never have believe OJ Simpson was capable of murder until it happened. Mel sounded on the edge of doing something on one of these tapes. When a woman is hit in the face, and he admits it, like he did on the tape, I don't sit on here and judge or question why was she holding the baby, like you stated. I don't the blame the victim when they are hit by a man.

Past all of that, I don't think she is some longtime victim. His behavior escalated and she is getting out, unlike women who are beaten down emotionally and stay in. Part of her reason for taping was probably to prove his abuse and, I don't now, part may be for negotiations. It's been stated he offered her 20 million but to have have custody eventually 50 percent of the time and she doesn't believe he should have the child that amount of time and turned it down. From what I heard, I wouldn't want my child in his care and custody either fifty percent of the time for no amount of money. She absolutely may turn out to have her own issues regarding playing hardball re financial. I never said she was a saint or that her behavior afterwards might not be so great. But that never colors, for me, that this man's rage is inexcusable and bizarre and his racist tendencies are strange. He needs help. The older he gets the worse he gets. He told her he left his wife because he had no spiritual common ground with her, or whatever he said. Wow. He's the one that needs spiritual help and medical.

It's amazing what rational people will do when pushed to the brink. You have no idea what they were going through before that split to cause that kind of rage. No one does but the 2 of them. And no one should have, except the 2 of them and the courts. THAT is the point. Its' not about defending anyone.
